Αναρωτιέμαι…..πόσο εύκολο είναι μερικές φορές να ρισκάρεις να ακούσεις κυκλοφορίες από μπάντες που κάνουν τώρα τα πρώτα τους βήματα! Πόσο εύκολο είναι για μια νέα μπάντα να κάνει αμέσως την διαφορά και να δώσει ελπίδα στον ήδη κορεσμένο χώρο; Η απάντηση απλή! Παίρνεις το ρίσκο και τα αποτελέσματα τα βλέπεις στην πορεία!
Ήρθε λοιπόν η στιγμή το ποιοτικό metalcore ή crossover αν προτιμάτε, να αποκτήσει νέα ταυτότητα στο χώρο και ενδεχομένως νέους ηγέτες!! Η μπάντα έρχεται από την Βραζιλία με την σφραγίδα της Eclipse records, ονομάζεται April 21st και το όνομα του EP, Courage Is Born From Fear! Κάνει ιδιαίτερη αίσθηση ο τρόπος που η μπάντα καταφέρνει να συνδυάσει τον τσαμπουκά με τα καταιγιστικά riff ώστε να παντρέψει δύο είδη μεταξύ τους με εκπληκτικό αποτέλεσμα.
Περί των συνθέσεων, τα σχόλια περιττά! Εκπληκτικά riff, επιθετικές και γεμάτες μελωδία κιθάρες, καλοπαιγμένο metalcore με όγκο, τύμπανα που σκοτώνουν πραγματικά με blast beats σε 16α (μουσικές αξίες), πανέξυπνες συνθέσεις, με μεγάλες επιρροές από τους τεράστιους As I lay dying, Trivium και Park Way Drive. Ένα EP με 4 συνθέσεις και ένα intro που θα κάνει ιδιαίτερη αίσθηση, θα συζητηθεί και σίγουρα θα ακούσετε ξανά….και ξανά….και ξανά. Οι April 21st αποδεικνύουν πως ο χώρος έχει ακόμα πολλά να προσφέρει με μια κυκλοφορία δυναμίτη που θα κάνει άπαντες, να περιμένουν ανυπόμονα να δουν την μπάντα live! Την παραγωγή επιμελήθηκε ο Bruno Barros , την μίξη o Arthur Damasio και το mastering Joseph McQueen (As i lay dying, Bad Wolves, Light the Torch).

I wonder… how easy do we step out of our comfort zone and take a chance to listen to releases from bands that are now making their first steps! How easy can it be for a new band to make a difference immediately and bring hope into an already outdone genre? The answer for me is … take the chance, and see the outcome!
It’s time for quality metalcore/ crossover -if you prefer- to claim its new identity and maybe, why not, new leaders! This band come from Brazil and they are supported by Eclipse Records, they are called April 21st and their Ep is entitled Courage Is Born From Fear! It is amazing how the band manages to combine a badass attitude, with crushing riffs so as to merge two genres in a breathtaking result.
As far as the songs are concerned, I needn’t say much! Hooking riffs that grab you by the neck and force you to head bang, aggressive yet melodic guitars and masterfully delivered metalcore, vast with killer drumming with blast beats in sixteens (music values), clever synthesis highly influenced by the monsters of the genre As I Lay Dying, Trivium and Park Way Drive. An EP with 4 songs and an intro which makes its mark, will definitely create a buzz and you will listen to again… again… and again! April 21st prove that the genre still has a lot to offer by presenting a release of explosive dynamite which will make your head spin and look forward to seeing them perform live!
