Thrash death metal με μοντέρνα στοιχεία από την Ελλάδα, από μένα είναι ΝΑΙ! Οι ASCENDING OLYMPUS είναι μια φρέσκια προσπάθεια με τον Ανδρέα Λογιώτατο (φωνητικά), τον Κώστα Παπαδόπουλο (κιθάρα, KARMA VIOLENS/ MEMORAIN), τον Ιωάννη Δρε (μπάσο, JADED STAR) και τον Δημήτρη Ρουβέλλα (τύμπανα, AHERUSIA/ JADED STAR /VERDICT DENIED) να μας παρουσιάζονται μουσικά μέσα από το Frontlines που κυκλοφόρησε τον Απρίλιο του 2023 από την Drakkar Productions.
Μουσικά θα σου θυμίσει κάτι από MACHINE HEAD, LAMB OF GOD, BOLT THROWER με πινελιές AMON AMARTH κυρίως λόγω των φωνητικών του Ανδρέα αλλά και μιας επικής ατμόσφαιρας σε κάποια από τα τραγούδια. Σε αυτό το ντεμπούτο έχουν και μια guest εμφάνιση από τον τραγουδιστή των KARMA VIOLENCE/LUCIFER’S CHILD Μάριο Dupont. To mastering έγινε στα Hertz Studios (Behemoth, Decapitated, Vader etc) ενώ το εξώφυλλο έχει επιμεληθεί ο Γιάννης Νάκος Remedy Art Design.
Ομολογώ ότι και μόνο το γεγονός ότι έχουν αυτή τη μοντέρνα προσέγγιση στα ογκοδέστατα riff τους μου τράβηξαν την προσοχή. Θεωρώ ότι έχουν όλα τα στοιχεία με το επόμενο άλμπουμ να ξεχωρίσουν. Επιπλέον fun στοιχείο η όχι και τόσο γυαλισμένη παραγωγή που δίνει μια αίσθηση live. Εγώ πάντως θα περιμένω με πολύ ενδιαφέρον το επόμενο άλμπουμ και σίγουρα θα ακούσω ξανά τα Death Will Come From Above, το ομότιτλο Frontlines και The City Will Not Fall.

Thrash death metal with modern elements from Greece, from me it’s YES! ASCENDING OLYMPUS is a fresh effort with Andreas Loyotatos (vocals), Kostas Papadopoulos (guitar, KARMA VIOLENS/ MEMORAIN), Ioannis Dre (bass, JADED STAR) and Dimitris Rouvellas (drums, AHERUSIA/ JADED STAR /VERDICT DENIED) presenting themselves to us musically through Frontlines which was released in April 2023 by Drakkar Productions.
Musically it will remind you of something from MACHINE HEAD, LAMB OF GOD, BOLT THROWER with touches of AMON AMARTH mainly because of Andreas’ vocals and an epic atmosphere in some of the songs. In this debut they also have a guest appearance by KARMA VIOLENCE/LUCIFER’S CHILD vocalist Mario Dupont. The mastering was done at Hertz Studios (Behemoth, Decapitated, Vader etc) while the cover artwork was done by Yannis Nakos Remedy Art Design.
I have to admit that the mere fact that they have this modern approach to their voluminous riffs caught my attention. I think they have all the elements that will make them stand out through their coming releases. Extra fun feature the kind off “dirty” production sound that makes it edgy and live like. I for one will be looking forward to the next album with great interest and will definitely listen to Death Will Come From Above, the self-titled Frontlines and The City Will Not Fall.
