CATTLE DECAPITATION – TERRASITE (METAL BLADE RECORDS)

The beauty and the feelings you can express in raw brutality are surprisingly vast. That was my first thought after listening to Terrasite by the amazing CATTLE DECAPITATION. The band presents an album that is both fierce A Photic Doom and fragile Just Another Body (written for the losses of Gabe Serbian and Trevor Strnad) . The vocals are a unique masterclass in skill and sentiment, the melodies and the fierce fullness in both drums and guitars are beyond comparison and the only thing that you can compare it to is Death Atlas their previous release.

Truth be told Death Atlas was the ultimate apocalyptic release but I was very happy to find out that the band can pick up from the point it left off and evolve. Old School fans of the band might not like the evolution in the band’s sound but then again without evolution as Josh Elmore told Metalradio.gr in his interview, they wouldn’t be true to their selves. I believe it is bliss for a musician to be able to grow without loosing touch with the foundation of their identity and I believe CATTLE DECAPITATION have accomplished that.

As they say, Terrasite pushes their sound further into more epic and varied territory, and in the hands of vocalist Travis Ryan the governing concept takes a new and disturbing direction. “I wanted to do the 180° opposite of Death Atlas. I already had the concept idea from years back and since Death Atlas was so dark and brooding, I wanted a completely opposite effect – I wanted this to take place in the daylight. I’ve always found daytime horror to be really unsettling so I wanted to make sure what was going on on the cover took place in the light of day, which also finds its place within the lyrics.”

CATTLE DECAPITATION in Tetrrasite progress and grow in their unique apocalyptic kind of way. Definitely one of the top three releases of the year.

Η ομορφιά και τα συναισθήματα που μπορείτε να εκφράσετε με την ωμή βιαιότητα είναι εκπληκτικά τεράστια. Αυτή ήταν η πρώτη μου σκέψη μετά την ακρόαση του Terrasite από τους καταπληκτικούς CATTLE DECAPITATION. Η μπάντα παρουσιάζει ένα άλμπουμ που είναι ταυτόχρονα άγριο A Photic Doom και εύθραυστο Just Another Body (γραμμένο για τις απώλειες των Gabe Serbian και Trevor Strnad). Τα φωνητικά είναι ένα μοναδικό αριστούργημα δεξιοτεχνίας και συναισθήματος, οι μελωδίες και η αγριότητα τόσο στα τύμπανα όσο και στις κιθάρες είναι ασύγκριτα και το μόνο πράγμα με το οποίο μπορείς να το συγκρίνεις είναι το Death Atlas την προηγούμενη κυκλοφορία τους.

Η αλήθεια είναι ότι το Death Atlas ήταν η απόλυτη κυκλοφορία αλλά με μεγάλη χαρά διαπίστωσα ότι η μπάντα μπορεί να συνεχίσει από το σημείο που σταμάτησε και να εξελιχθεί. Στους old school οπαδούς της μπάντας μπορεί να μην αρέσει η εξέλιξη στον ήχο της μπάντας αλλά από την άλλη χωρίς εξέλιξη όπως είπε ο Josh Elmore στο Metalradio.gr στη συνέντευξή του, δεν θα ήταν πιστοί στον εαυτό τους. Πιστεύω ότι είναι ευλογία για έναν μουσικό να μπορεί να εξελίσσεται χωρίς να χάνει την επαφή με τα θεμέλια της ταυτότητάς του και πιστεύω ότι οι CATTLE DECAPITATION το έχουν καταφέρει αυτό.

Όπως λένε οι ίδιοι, το Terrasite ωθεί τον ήχο τους περισσότερο σε πιο επικά και ποικίλα εδάφη και στα χέρια του τραγουδιστή Travis Ryan το concept παίρνει μια νέα και ανησυχητική κατεύθυνση. “Ήθελα να κάνω το 180° αντίθετο του Death Atlas. Είχα ήδη την ιδέα του concept από χρόνια πίσω και αφού το Death Atlas ήταν τόσο σκοτεινό και μελαγχολικό, ήθελα ένα εντελώς αντίθετο αποτέλεσμα – ήθελα αυτό να λαμβάνει χώρα στο φως της ημέρας. Πάντα έβρισκα τον τρόμο κατά τη διάρκεια της ημέρας πραγματικά ανησυχητικό, οπότε ήθελα να σιγουρευτώ ότι αυτό που συμβαίνει στο εξώφυλλο λαμβάνει χώρα στο φως της ημέρας, το οποίο βρίσκει επίσης τη θέση του μέσα στους στίχους”.

Οι CATTLE DECAPITATION στο Tetrrasite εξελίσσονται και αναπτύσσονται με τον μοναδικό αποκαλυπτικό τρόπο τους. Σίγουρα μία από τις τρεις κορυφαίες κυκλοφορίες της χρονιάς.
