Η αδυναμία μου στη Hard Rock μουσική εμπνευσμένη από την δεκαετία των ‘80s είναι γνωστή. Εκπληκτικές φωνητικές ικανότητες, δυνατά riff, φοβερά τύμπανα και μια απίστευτη αίσθηση δυναμικής που λίγα μουσικά ιδιώματα μπορούν να σου προσφέρουν. Έτσι λοιπόν, όταν έπεσε στα χέρια μου η 3η δισκογραφική δουλειά των CYANIDE 4, ήξερα τουλάχιστον ότι θα με ταξιδέψει. Εκ πρώτης όψεως, η φυσική μορφή του cd είναι εξαιρετική με μια απόκοσμη και σκοτεινή φωτογραφία η οποία καταφέρνει να σε ιντριγκάρει από την πρώτη στιγμή.
Ένα γρήγορο άκουσμα ολόκληρου του άλμπουμ στην αρχή σου δίνει την αίσθηση ότι συνδυάζει πολλές και διάφορες metal επιρροές με ένα πιο σκοτεινό στυλ μη χάνοντας το εκπληκτικό hard rock θέμα που μας έχουν κάνει να τους αγαπήσουμε.
Το εξαιρετικό The Secret Doctrine ανοίγει το δίσκο προμηνύοντας τι θα επακολουθήσει. Απίστευτος ήχος της κιθάρας καθ’ όλη τη διάρκεια του άλμπουμ που καταφέρνει να σε συνεπάρει ιδιαίτερα στα Bonafide, Redeemer, Tragic Flaw.
Επίσης οι στίχοι είναι πολύ καλοί και φαίνεται να ταιριάζουν γάντι σε κάθε κομμάτι. Ιδιαίτερη εντύπωση μου έκαναν οι στίχοι στο κομμάτι So In Vain όπου πραγματικά αποτυπώνεται η απόγνωση και η προσπάθεια του καλλιτέχνη να ξεφύγει από την προσωπική απομόνωση.
Εν ολίγοις, ο προσανατολισμός της μπάντας δεν χάνεται, καθώς σου δίνεται μια αίσθηση επιρροής από συγκροτήματα όπως οι CRASHDIET, CRAZY LIXX, HANOI ROCKS, με την δική τους προσωπική ταυτότητα. Οι CYANIDE 4 επέστρεψαν, με ένα ομολογουμένως πολύ καλό άλμπουμ, που αξίζει να εξερευνήσετε και να βυθιστείτε στο όμορφο αυτό μουσικό ταξίδι με το όνομα Amalgama.
Αναμένουμε ανάλογη συνέχεια από την μπάντα και ανυπομονούμε να τους συναντήσουμε κάπου εκεί έξω, να τα σπάνε με το δικό τους ξεχωριστό τρόπο σε κάποιο live.

My weakness for Hard Rock music inspired by the 80s is well known. Amazing vocal skills, powerful riffs, great drums and an incredible sense of dynamics that few musical idioms can offer you.
So when CYANIDE 4‘s 3rd album dropped into my hands, I at least knew it would take me on a journey. At first glance, the physical format of the CD is excellent with an eerie and dark photography that manages to intrigue you from the first moment.
A quick listen to the whole album at the beginning gives you the feeling that they combine many different metal influences with a darker style without losing the amazing hard rock theme that they have made us love.
The excellent The Secret Doctrine opens the album foreshadowing what’s to come. Incredible guitar sound throughout the album that manages to captivate you especially in Bonafide, Redeemer, Tragic Flaw.
Also the lyrics are very good and seem to fit every track like a glove. I was particularly impressed with the lyrics on the track So In Vain where the lyrics really capture the desperation and the artist’s attempt to escape personal isolation.
In short, the orientation of the band is not lost, as you are given a sense of influence from bands like CRASHDIET, CRAZY LIXX, HANOI ROCKS, with their own personal identity. CYANIDE 4 are back, with an admittedly very good album, worth exploring and immersing yourself in this beautiful musical journey called Amalgama.
We expect similar continuity from the band and look forward to meeting them out there somewhere, breaking it down in their own special way at a live show.
