Δεν υπάρχουν πολλές ελληνικές μπάντες που έχουν γίνει πρεσβευτές της ελληνικής σκηνής εκτός συνόρων, αλλά οι FIREWIND και συγκεκριμένα ο Gus G είναι ο ένας Έλληνας που έχει αφήσει το στίγμα του σε όλο τον κόσμο. Τόσο με τις προσωπικές του κυκλοφορίες αλλά και με τα άλμπουμ των FIREWIND σκορπάει riffs και κάνει τα κεφάλια των metalheads να χτυπάνε.
Το 10ο στούντιο άλμπουμ των FIREWIND STAND UNITED κυκλοφόρησε την 1η Μαρτίου από την AFM Records. Είναι το δεύτερο άλμπουμ με τον Herbie Langhans στα φωνητικά και ο Gus το περιγράφει ως ένα είδος concept άλμπουμ καθώς τα θέματα των στίχων περιστρέφονται γύρω από την ανάγκη να μείνουμε ενωμένοι. Συγκεκριμένα . “Δεν θα αποκαλούσα ακριβώς το ‘Stand United‘ ένα κλασικό concept άλμπουμ, αλλά ο τίτλος του άλμπουμ υποδηλώνει το περί τίνος πρόκειται θεματικά”, δήλωσε ο Gus G, ο οποίος έχει επίσης συνεισφέρει με περισσότερες στιχουργικές ιδέες σε αυτό το άλμπουμ από οποιοδήποτε άλλο άλμπουμ στο παρελθόν. “Αυτός ο κόσμος φαίνεται να βγαίνει όλο και περισσότερο εκτός ισορροπίας, με τις περιβαλλοντικές καταστροφές, την πανδημία, τους πολέμους που μαίνονται αυτή τη στιγμή σε όλο τον πλανήτη. Σε τέτοιους καιρούς, είναι πιο σημαντικό από ποτέ για την ανθρωπότητα να σταθεί κοντά η μία στην άλλη αντί να πολεμάει η μία την άλλη. Αυτό είναι το θέμα του ‘Stand United‘!”
Το STAND UNITED περιλαμβάνει εννέα ολοκαίνουργια τραγούδια σε παραγωγή του Dennis Ward (Magnum, Unisonic), καθώς και μια διασκευή του κλασικού pop rock τραγουδιού των 80s ‘Talking in Your Sleep‘, που αρχικά ηχογραφήθηκε από τους Romantics, αλλά του δίνει μια μεταλλική πινελιά στο στυλ των FIREWIND. Μουσικά θα βρείτε πιασάρικα heavy metal riffs με πολλές μελωδίες και μια ανεβαστική και δυναμωτική ατμόσφαιρα. Μου άρεσαν ιδιαίτερα τα τραγούδια Fallen Angel και Chains, τα οποία επίσης βγάζουν ένα είδος μελωδικού ροκ των 80s. Σίγουρα ένα must have για όλους τους οπαδούς του heavy metal.

There aren’t many Greek bands that have been ambassadors of the Greek scene outside the borderlines but FIREWIND and specifically Gus G has been the one Greek who has made his mark around the world. Both with his personal releases but also with the albums of FIREWIND he is spreading riffs and making heads bang for metalheads.
FIREWIND’s 10th studio album STAND UNITED was released on March 1st through AFM Records. It is the second album with Herbie Langhans on vocals and Gus describes it as kind of a concept album as the themes of the lyrics revolve around the need to stand united. Specifically . “I wouldn’t exactly call ‘Stand United’ a classic concept album, but the album title indicates what we’re about thematically,” Gus G, who has also contributed with more lyric ideas on this one than any album before, said. “This world seems to be getting more and more out of balance, what with environmental disasters, the pandemic, the wars currently raging all over the globe. In such times, it’s more important than ever for mankind to stand close together instead of fighting each other. That’s what ‘Stand United’ is about!”
STAND UNITED features nine brand new songs produced with Dennis Ward (Magnum, Unisonic), as well as a cover of the 80s pop rock classic ‘Talking in Your Sleep’, originally recorded by The Romantics but giving it a metal twist in the style of FIREWIND. Music wise you’ll find catchy heavy metal riffs with lots of melodies and an uplifting and empowering vibe. I specially liked the songs Fallen Angel and Chains, which also give out an 80s melodic rock kind of vibe. Definitely a must have for all heavy metal fans.
