Το τετραμελές progressive groove metal σχήμα ORIA από τη Θεσσαλονίκη, αποκαλύπτει το animated music video, σε δημιουργία Petsua, για το τραγούδι τους “Pirates, Parrots and Parasites”, από το δεύτερο άλμπουμ τους με τίτλο “This Future Wants Us Dead”, που κυκλοφορεί από την Theogonia Records. Το κομμάτι οραματίζεται μια δυστοπία του κοντινού μέλλοντος, όπου η παγκόσμια καλλιτεχνική κληρονομιά έχει λεηλατηθεί από ένα παρασιτικό είδος που παίρνει ανθρώπινη μορφή, και φυλάσσεται σε ένα σούπερ-γιοτ στο μέγεθος ενός ολόκληρου νησιού. Στο εσωτερικό του, τα κλεμμένα έργα τέχνης τροφοδοτούν τους “παπαγάλους” — μοντέλα παραγωγικής τεχνητής νοημοσύνης που παράγουν “παστίς σιλικόνης” για να διασκεδάζουν τους υπερ-πλούσιους.
Είναι ένας κόσμος όπου μπορείς να ακούσεις το ολόγραμμα του Freddie Mercury να τραγουδά ξανά ή να δεις μια “νέα” ταινία του Alfred Hitchcock, του μετρ του σασπένς, ενώ οι άνθρωποι καλλιτέχνες αφήνονται στην εξαθλίωση, αναγκασμένοι να στραφούν στην πειρατεία για να επιβιώσουν. Εξού και ο τίτλος, Pirates, Parrots, and Parasites. Ανησυχητικά, όσα γράφτηκαν ως μια σκοτεινή και σατιρική προειδοποίηση πριν από μόλις δύο χρόνια, και κυκλοφόρησαν πριν από ένα, σήμερα δεν φαντάζουν πια και τόσο εξωπραγματικά…

The four-piece progressive groove metal band ORIA from Thessaloniki, Greece, unveils the animated music video, created by Petsua, for their song “Pirates, Parrots and Parasites”, from their sophomore album “This Future Wants Us Dead”, released via Theogonia Records. The track envisions a near-future dystopia where the world’s artistic heritage has been plundered by a parasitic species that takes human form, only to be hoarded aboard an islandsized super-yacht. Inside it, stolen art pieces are fed into “the Parrots” – generative AI models that spew “silicon pastiche” for the ultra-rich to enjoy.
It’s a world where you can hear a Freddie Mercury hologram sing again or watch a “new” film by Alfred Hitchcock, the master of suspense, while human artists are left to starve, forced into a life of piracy just to survive. Hence the title, Pirates, Parrots, and Parasites. Disturbingly, what was written as a dark and satirical warning just two years ago, and released one year ago, now doesn’t sound so far-fetched …
