Οι Soen ανακοίνωσαν την κυκλοφορία του νέου άλμπουμ “Memorial”, που θα βγει την 1η Σεπτεμβρίου από τη Silver Lining Music. Το συγκρότημα επίσης κυκλοφόρησε το πρώτο single ‘Unbreakable’. Το νέο single είναι μια δήλωση πρόθεσης για το τι πρόκειται να έρθει στο επερχόμενο άλμπουμ και βλέπει το συγκρότημα να ακολουθεί μια πολύ πιο βαριά προσέγγιση, αλλά να εξακολουθεί να διατηρεί τις μελωδικές του ευαισθησίες.
Το ιδρυτικό μέλος και ντράμερ Martin Lopez σχολιάζει: «Το “Unbreakable” είναι ένα τραγούδι σχετικά με το πώς περιορίζεις τον εαυτό σου ως άνθρωπος, πιστεύοντας τυφλά σε κάτι». Το νέο άλμπουμ έχει μια ισχυρή ώθηση και βλέπει το συγκρότημα να διοχετεύει τα δεινά της τρέχουσας κοινωνίας με μια ξεκάθαρη, βαριά αγριότητα, αλλά ταυτόχρονα προβάλλει το μοναδικό μείγμα προόδου, επιθετικότητας και ομορφιάς των Soen.
Το Memorial είναι γεμάτο μελωδία με κιθάρες και ρυθμούς που συνθλίβουν το πρόσωπο από την αρχή μέχρι το τέλος. Το “Sincere”, που ανοίγει το άλμπουμ, ξεκινά με αδυσώπητη ώθηση, ενώ η απόλυτη ισχύς του ομότιτλου κομματιού εμπλουτίζεται με ένα συμπαγές groove, που κρύβεται πίσω από τους βαρύτατους τόνους και τα υποβλητικά φωνητικά του Joel Ekelöf.
Τελειώνοντας με την όμορφη, τραγική και στο ύφος των Pink Floyd μπαλάντα, “Vitals”, το “Memorial” βρίσκει το συγκρότημα αναμφισβήτητα στην καλύτερή του φάση. Soen have announced the release of the new album “Memorial“, which will be released on September 1st via Silver Lining Music. The band also released the first single ‘Unbreakable’. The new single is a statement of intent for what’s to come in upcoming album and sees the band following a much more heavier approach, but still retaining its melodic sensibilities.
Founding member and drummer Martin Lopez comments: “Unbreakable is a song about “Unbreakable” is about how you limit yourself as a person by blindly believing in something. Singer and co-founding member Joel Ekelöf continues: “Politicians and the media, they paint everything as black or white, giving you the right to try to destroy your opponent, instead of looking for to find common ground. The key is to be humble and open to different perspectives to keep growing. The “Unbreakable” is a marriage between classic metal and Soen”.
The new album has a strong push and sees the new album the band channeling the ills of current society in a with a clear, heavy brutality, but at the same time showcases the unique blend of progression, aggression and beauty in Soen. The Memorial is full of melodic guitars and rhythms that crush the face from start to finish. “Sincere,” which opens album, begins with relentless momentum, while the sheer power of the title track
track is enriched with a solid groove, hidden behind Joel Ekelöf’s heavy tones and evocative vocals.
Finishing with the beautiful, tragic and Pink Floyd-style ballad, “Vitals”, “Memorial” finds the band arguably at their best phase. Soen have been building this moment for years and now they are here with “Memorial”, which is an inspired modern hard rock album that will become a classic.
Soen is completed by Lars Enok Åhlund (keyboards and guitar), Oleksii ‘Zlatoyar’ Kobel (bass) and Cody Ford (lead guitar) and are expected to play on this year’s album.
