Μελωδικό death metal με brutal φωνητικά, εξοργισμένους στίχους και υπέροχες κιθαριστικές μελωδίες. Πραγματικά έβαλα να ακούσω το άλμπουμ εκεί που σημείωνα ποια τραγούδια ξεχωρίζω, όπως κάνω πάντα, συνειδητοποίησα οτι έχω σημειώσει σχεδόν ολόκληρη την tracklist! Κάθε μια σύνθεση έχει μεσα της μια γοητευτική κιθαριστική μελωδία που θα σε κερδίσει έστω και «στις καθυστερήσεις». Η παραγωγή είναι πολύ ισορροπημένη και σύγχρονη δίνοντας όγκο και πλαστικότητα στον ήχο,  καθόλου τυχαίο μιας και η μίξη και το mastering έγιναν από τον Fredrik Nordstrom στα Studio Fredman .

Οι στίχοι ολοκληρώνουν την τριλογία που απαρτίζεται από τις δύο προηγούμενες κυκλοφορίες ‘The Venomous‘ και ‘Wolf to Man‘ και αναφέρονται στο όρασμα του συγκροτήματος για το σύγχρονο τρόπο ζωής και το πως η ανθρωπότητα ζει μέσα στην κόλαση που η ίδια έχει δημιουργήσει.  Εμπνευσμένο εν μέρη από την Κόλαση του Δάντη το άλμπουμ εξερευνά την καταστροφική επίδραση του ανθρώπου στον κόσμο και την άβυσσο που ανοίγει για να καταπιεί τα πάντα.

Αυτή η εντυπωσιάκη εικόνα, της αβύσσου που ανοίγει για να καταβροχθίσει τα πάντα είναι και η αίσθηση που σου προκαλούν οι συνθέσεις με τη διαφορά ότι την ιστορία την αφηγούνται κυρίως οι μελωδίες μιας και τα φωνητικά είναι εκεί σαν κραυγή αγωνίας που τονίζει τέλεια την απόγνωση και την εικόνα καταστροφής. Θα βρείτε πολλά σημεία να ξεχωρίσετε στα τραγούδια του Abyss Rising και δεν θα το αποχωρηστείτε εύκολα από τον player σας γιατί είναι όλες οι αγωνίες ενός σκεπτόμενου ανθρώπου ενσωματωμένες καταιγιστικές συνθέσεις μπλεγμένες με όλες του τις ελπίδες δομημένες πάνω σε γοητευτικές μελωδίες. Το Abyss Rising δεν χρειάζεται τίποτα περισσότερο από μια ακρόαση για να σας πεισει για την ποιότητά του. Απλά πατήστε Play!

When we talked with Marios Iliopoulos about Abyss Rising, Nightrage‘s 9th album, I hadn’t heard anything more than the videos that had been released. But already the preview was enough to convince me, that I definitely want to listen to this release. Both the production details Marios mentioned in the interview and his enthusiasm for the material that will be released on February 18^th by Despotz Records made the wait excruciating, until it arrived in my hands to reveal that this is a very good release.

Melodic death metal with brutal vocals, furious lyrics and great guitar melodies. I really got to listening to the album where I was jotting down which songs stood out to me, as I always do, I realized that I had jotted down almost the entire tracklist! Every single composition has a charming guitar melody in it that will win you over. The production is very balanced and modern giving volume and plasticity to the sound, no wonder why since the mixing and mastering was done by Fredrik Nordstrom at Studio Fredman.

The lyrics complete the trilogy consisting of the two previous releases ‘The Venomous’ and ‘Wolf to Man’ and refer to the band’s take on the modern way of life and how humanity lives in the hell it has created.  Inspired in part by Dante’s Inferno, the album explores man’s destructive influence on the world and the abyss that opens up to swallow everything.

This striking image, of the abyss opening up to devour everything is the feeling that the compositions evoke, except that the story is mainly told by the melodies since the vocals are there as a cry of anguish that perfectly emphasizes the despair and the image of destruction. You will find many points to stand out in the songs of Abyss Rising and you won’t easily leave it off your player. Because it is all the agonies of a thinking man embedded in furious compositions intertwined with all his hopes structured on charming melodies. Abyss Rising needs nothing more than one listen to convince you of its quality. Just press Play!

«Το 2021, οι Έλληνες/Σουηδοί μελωδικοί death metalers Nightrage επιστρέφουν με το τελευταίο μέρος στην τριλογία των άλμπουμ τους («The Venomous», «Wolf to Man») «Abyss Rising». Ένα άλμπουμ που είναι το όραμα της μπάντας για την ανθρωπότητα που ζει στη δική της κόλαση – μια κόλαση που έχει δημιουργήσει μέσω της καταστροφής του πλανήτη. Εμπνευσμένο εν μέρει από την «κόλαση» του Δάντη, το άλμπουμ εξερευνά τη συνεχή καταστροφή του κόσμου στον οποίο ζούμε από τον άνθρωπο μέχρι να ανοίξει η άβυσσος για να καταπιεί τα πάντα μπροστά του. Η άβυσσος έχει αναμοχλευτεί και η κόλαση έχει γυρίσει τώρα έξω για να μπορέσει να ανέβει στη γη για να μας διεκδικήσει.

Το άλμπουμ αποτυπώνει τους Nightrage σε εντυπωσιακή φόρμα. Aποφασιστικό, βάναυσο, ασυμβίβαστο και αξέχαστο metal. Μουσικά το συγκρότημα έχει υιοθετήσει μια πιο σκληρή, πιο γρήγορη και βάναυση προσέγγιση, ακόμα πλούσια σε μελωδικότητα αλλά χαρακτηριστικά βαριά και επιθετική. Σε μίξη και mastering από τον Fredrik Nordstrom στο Studio Fredman (Architects, In Flames, Opeth, κ.λπ.) το ‘Abyss Rising’ είναι ένα τρομερό ηχητικό αριστούργημα. Το άλμπουμ θα κυκλοφορήσει στις 18 Φεβρουαρίου 2022. Το «Abyss Rising» ήταν το πρώτο single και ομώνυμο κομμάτι του άλμπουμ. Αυτό το τραγούδι έχει να κάνει με το πώς εμείς ως άνθρωποι ζούμε ήδη στη δική μας κόλαση και εκφράζει το όραμα των Nightrage όπου η ανθρωπότητα έφτασε επιτέλους στη δική της κόλαση στη Γη. Οι Nightrage θα κυκλοφορήσουν τώρα το μουσικό βίντεο για το «Abyss Rising» και θα κυκλοφορήσει στις 5 Νοεμβρίου μέσω της Despotz Records.

Ο Μάριος για το single: “Το Abyss Rising είναι ένα από τα τελευταία τραγούδια που έχουμε γράψει για το νέο άλμπουμ εγώ και ο Magnus, και θέλαμε να δημιουργήσουμε ένα γρήγορο τραγούδι με πολύ δυνατές μελωδίες και πιασάρικα riff. Νιώθω ότι έχουμε πραγματικά υπέροχη χημεία όταν καθόμαστε και γράφουμε νέα τραγούδια μαζί, καθώς και με την προσθήκη του Ronnie που έγραψε μερικά πραγματικά υπέροχα φωνητικά που ανέβασαν πολύ το τραγούδι, ειδικά στο ρεφρέν πρόσθεσε πολλά στρώματα καθαρών φωνητικών αρμονιών που δίνουν στο τραγούδι μια άλλη διάσταση! Είμαστε έκπληκτοι από το καταπληκτική τέχνη που έκανε ο Jon Tousas από το Graphic No Jutsu, βλέπετε 7 βέλη που συμβολίζουν τις 7 θανάσιες αμαρτίες που σκοτώνουν τα 3 πουλιά της αθωότητας, έτσι που μας δείχνει ξεκάθαρα την πτώση της ανθρωπότητας και την άνοδο της άτυχης Αβύσσου. Melodic death metallers Nightrage drop the title track video Abyss Rising. The video is directed by Fotis Benardo (yes directed).

‘In 2021, the Greek/Swedish melodic death metal stars Nightrage return with the final part in their trilogy of albums (‘The Venomous’, ‘Wolf to Man’) and now complete with their upcoming album ‘Abyss Rising’. An album that is the band’s vision of mankind living in its own hell – a hell it has created through the destruction of the planet. Inspired in part by Dante’s ‘inferno’, the album explores man’s continual destruction of the world we live in until the abyss opens up to consume all before it. The abyss has risen from the depths, and hell has now turned outside in to be able to rise to earth to claim us.

The album captures Nightrage in a spectacular form; incisive, brutal, uncompromising, and unforgettable. Musically the band have embraced a harder, faster, and brutal approach, still rich in melodic intent but characteristically heavy and aggressive. Mixed and mastered by Fredrik Nordstrom at Studio Fredman (Architects, In Flames, Opeth, etc.) ‘Abyss Rising’ is a formidable sonic masterpiece. The album will be released 18th of February 2022.  ‘Abyss Rising’ was the first single and title track of the album. This song is all about how we as humans already are living in our own hell and expresses Nightrage’s vision where mankind has finally reached their own hell on Earth. Marios about the single; “Abyss Rising is one of the last songs that we have written for the new album me and Magnus, and we wanted to create a fast song with really strong melodies and catchy riffs. I feel we have really great chemistry when we sit down and write new songs together, plus with the addition of Ronnie he did some really great vocals that lifted the song a lot, especially on the chorus he added a lot of layers of clean vox harmonies that gives the song another dimension! We are blown away from the amazing art that Jon Tousas did from Graphic No Jutsu, you see 7 arrows that symbolizes the 7 deadly sins that is killing the 3 birds of innocence, so that shows us clearly the downfall of the humankind and the rising of the unfortunate Abyss. Beware Of The Abyss!” // Marios Iliopoulos In 2022, Nightrage is back with their ninth album ‘Abyss Rising’ – it’s incisive, it’s brutal, it’s uncompromising and unforgettable.
