Στις 12 Σεπτεμβρίου 2025 επιστρέφουν με το δεύτερο άλμπουμ τους Artificial Imprisonment. Με την εξάπλωση της τεχνητής νοημοσύνης και την κουβέντα που έχει ξεκινήσει γύρω από αυτή η θεματική είναι απόλυτα επίκαιρή και εγείρει προβληματισμούς. Η κοινωνικές ανησυχίες άλλωστε ήταν πάντα στο επίκεντρο των θεματικών που άγγιζαν οι DREAMLORD. Το Artificial Imprisonment έρχεται ως μια φυσική εξέλιξη του ντεμπούτου άλμπουμ των DREAMLORD και η μπάντα φαίνεται να έχει δουλέψει αρκετά πάνω σε πολλά επίπεδα. Τόσο στην παραγωγή όσο και παικτικά όλοι τους φαίνεται να έχουν ρίξει σοβαρή δουλειά για να εξελίξουν τον ήχο τους και να παρουσιάσουν ένα αποτέλεσμα πολύ καλοπαιγμένο, συμπαγές και δυναμικό. Η παραγωγή είναι σίγουρα πιο καλοδουλεμένη από το πρώτο άλμπουμ και οι ίδιοι οι παίκτες φαίνεται να έχουν δώσει αγάπη και μεράκι.

Οι κιθάρες έχουν πρωταγωνιστικό ρόλο και είναι καλοδουλεμένες, με σόλο που σου μένουν στο μυαλό, χωρίς περιττές «φλυαρίες». Οι συνθέσεις είναι μεγάλες σε διάρκεια, με μεγάλες εισαγωγές (ίσως περισσότερο από ότι χρειάζεται κατά την άποψη μου) και αυτό τους στερεί δυναμικότητας. Μου θυμίζουν έντονα τα άλμπουμ των METALLICA από το Death Magnetic και μετά που «αργεί» να μπει το κομμάτι, κάτι που εμένα προσωπικά δεν μου αρέσει ούτε στα άλμπουμ των METALLICA, παρόλο που τους αγαπώ. Υπήρξαν σημεία που μου θύμισαν τις βασικές επιρροές του συγκροτήματος – εκτός από METALLICA– SLAYER, MEGADETH και κάποια σημεία που μου έφεραν στο μυαλό τους EXODUS. Ακούγοντας το άλμπουμ στην ολότητά του είναι με ξένισε που στα περισσότερα τραγούδια οι φωνητικές γραμμές είναι παραπλίσιες με αποτέλεσμα να μοιάζουν ακολουθούν το ίδιο μοτίβο.

Ξεχώρισα το Evil Twin, Against Control & No Way Out αλλά σίγουρα με τα ακούσματα θα βρείτε τα δικά σας αγαπημένα. Τις ηχογραφήσεις και την παραγωγή στις κιθάρες και το μπάσο επιμελήθηκε η μπάντα και ο George Kapa. Τα τύμπανα και τα φωνητικά ηχογραφήθηκαν στο Esoteron Music Studio και την παραγωγή έκανε ο Alexi Keito & George Dovolos. Τη μίξη έκανε ο George Kapa και το master o George Bokos στα Grindhouse Studios. Το εξώφυλλο και το artwork επιμελήθηκε ο Vaggelis Petikas. Τις φωτογραφίες τράβηξε ο Thomas Fytsilis, τη μουσική έγραψαν οι Dreamlord και τους στίχους ο Babis, ο Christos και ο Yiannis.

Συνολικά θεωρώ ότι το Artificial Imprisonment είναι ένα βήμα μπροστά για την εξέλιξη του συγκροτήματος και θεωρώ ότι το μόνο που λείπει για να βγάλει η μπάντα ένα δίσκο φωτιά είναι να ξεπεράσει τον εφηβικό της εαυτό κάνοντας ένα αυστηρό editing στις συνθέσεις ώστε να είναι πιο άμεσες και εύστοχες. Κυκλοφορεί ανεξάρτητα στις 12 Σεπτεμβρίου 2025.

DREAMLORD is one of the beloved bands of the Greek metal scene that started out in the Zografou neighborhood with deep thrash roots and a rather raw attitude. On their first album, Disciples Of War, released in 2019, they introduced themselves to the public and received quite positive reviews. For those unfamiliar with their sound, we could give a rough idea of their style by saying that they are influenced by METALLICA, SLAYER, MEGADETH, TESTAMENT, and, as they sound in 2025, EXODUS.

On September 12, 2025, they return with their second album, Artificial Imprisonment. With the spread of artificial intelligence and the conversation that has begun around this topic, it is absolutely timely and raises concerns. Social concerns have always been at the center of the themes addressed by DREAMLORD. Artificial Imprisonment comes as a natural evolution of DREAMLORD‘s debut album, and the band seems to have worked hard on many levels. Both in terms of production and playing, they all seem to have put in a lot of hard work to develop their sound and present a well-played, compact, and dynamic result. The production is definitely more polished than on the first album, and the musicians themselves seem to have put a lot of love and passion into it.

The guitars play a leading role and are well crafted, with solos that stick in your mind, without unnecessary “chatter.” The compositions are long, with long introductions (perhaps more than necessary, in my opinion), which detracts from their power. They strongly remind me of METALLICA‘s albums from Death Magnetic onwards, where it takes a while for the song to get going, something I personally don’t like even in METALLICA‘s albums, even though I love them. There were moments that reminded me of the band’s main influences – apart from METALLICA – SLAYER, MEGADETH, and some moments that brought EXODUS to mind. Listening to the album as a whole, I was surprised that in most songs the vocal lines are similar, so that the seem to follow the same pattern.

I particularly enjoyed Evil Twin, Against Control, and No Way Out, but I am confident that you will find your own favorites as you listen. The band and George Kapa handled the recording and production of the guitars and bass. The drums and vocals were recorded at Esoteron Music Studio and produced by Alexi Keito & George Dovolos. The mixing was done by George Kapa and the mastering by George Bokos at Grindhouse Studios. The cover and artwork were done by Vaggelis Petikas. The photos were taken by Thomas Fytsilis, the music was written by Dreamlord, and the lyrics by Babis, Christos, and Yiannis.

Overall, I think Artificial Imprisonment is a step forward for the band’s development, and I believe that the only thing missing for the band to release a killer album is to overcome their adolescent selves by rigorously editing their compositions to make them more direct and to the point. It will be released independently on September 12, 2025.
