Η μουσική τους έχει μια μοναδική ατμόσφαιρα, έχει εκρηκτική ενέργεια και γοητευτικά μελωδικά μονοπάτια συνδυασμένα με ένα σύγχρονο τρόπο που τους κάνει να ξεχωρίζουν και να είναι αναγνωρίσιμοι. Το νέο τους άλμπουμ ενσωματώνει όλα τα στοιχεία που δίνουν την ταυτότητα του συγκροτήματος. Πιασάρικα riff, ογκοδέστατα τύμπανα, σπαρακτικά φωνητικά και στοιχειωτικές μελωδίες. Όταν ακούσεις έστω και μια φορά Orbit Culture δεν παίζει να τους μπερδέψεις με κανένα άλλο συγκρότημα. Ομολογώ ότι εκτιμώ το σύνολο της δισκογραφίας τους ακόμη και τα πιο εμπορικά περάσματα που έκαναν στο Descent αλλά αυτό το άλμπουμ, το Death Above Life που κυκλοφορεί στις 3 Οκτωβρίου από τη Century Media έρχεται για να τους καθιερώσει. Μακάρι κάποια στιγμή να μπορέσουμε να τους δούμε ζωντανά και στη χώρα μας.

Ήδη από τα βίντεο που έχουν βγει στη δημοσιότητα η ανταπόκριση είναι πολύ θετική και το σύνολο του άλμπουμ απλά εμπλουτίζει και μεγαλώνει την καλή αυτή εντύπωση. Για μένα είναι σίγουρα με τις καλύτερες κυκλοφορίες του 2025. Το συνιστώ ανεπιφύλακτα και είμαι σίγουρη ότι δεν θα βγει από το player σας για πολύ καιρό.

ORBIT CULTURE is the next big thing on the scene. You might say that’s a bold statement, and I’ll tell you that I don’t write lightly because I always try to be very conservative in what I write so that I can be as honest and sincere as possible with you, who are reading these lines and every line I have ever written or will ever write. It is a band that has worked hard to gain recognition, and it took them many years and, from what it seems, they needed to be seen in a positive light for people to start embracing them.

Their music has a unique atmosphere, explosive energy, and captivating melodies combined in a modern way that makes them stand out and be recognizable. Their new album incorporates all the elements that give the band its identity. Catchy riffs, powerful drums, heart-wrenching vocals, and haunting melodies. Once you hear ORBIT CULTURE even once, there’s no mistaking them for any other band. I admit that I appreciate their entire discography, even their more commercial passages on Descent, but this album, Death Above Life, released on October 3 by Century Media, is set to establish them. I hope that someday we will be able to see them live in our country.

The response to the videos that have been released is already very positive, and the album as a whole simply enriches and enhances this good impression. For me, it is definitely one of the best releases of 2025. I highly recommend it and I am sure it will be on repeat on your player for a long time.

Ο Michael Amott με την ανακοίνωση της επερχόμενης κυκλοφορίας του Blood Dynasty είχε πει: “Ανυπομονούμε να το ακούσετε και να νιώσετε την ενέργεια που έχουμε βάλει μέσα σε κάθε τραγούδι του.” Δεν είχε άδικο. Από το κάθε τραγούδι αναβλύζει  πεντακάθαρη ενέργεια που διαχέεται με μοναδικό τρόπο μέσα στο ζοφερό μουσικό τοπίο με τις απαράμιλλες μελωδίες και τους καταιγιστικούς ρυθμούς.

Όλοι θα έχετε δει και ακούσει το εντυπωσιακό Dream Stealer, το πρώτο τραγούδι του άλμπουμ. Θα έχετε νοιώσει την ορμή και τα μοναδικά συναισθήματα που ξεπηδούν μέσα από αυτό το σκοτεινό παραμύθι για μεγάλους με το πραγματικά υπέροχο video clip. Μην αφήσεις τον Κλέφτη του Ονείρου να πάρει το φώς που λάμπει μέσα σου και να σε αφήσει μόνο στο σκοτάδι και στις σκιές.

Είναι αξιοθαύμαστος ο τρόπος με τον οποίο τοποθετούνται και ξεδιπλώνονται οι μουσικές συνθέσεις μέσα στη ροή της δωδέκατης αυτής κυκλοφορίας των Arch Enemy. Το Illuminate the Path, το March of the Miscreants, το A Million Suns και το Don’t Look Down που ακολουθούν το εντυπωσιακό εναρκτήριο Dream Stealer  σε τραβάνε, το ένα μετά το άλλο, όλο και πιο βαθιά μέσα στον κόσμο του Blood Dynasty. Σε ένα ταξίδι συναρπαστικού μελωδικού death metal, μέσα από σκοτεινά και μαγεμένα μονοπάτια γεμάτα ήχους και εικόνες που ζωντανεύουν και αποκτούν υπόσταση με τα εντυπωσιακά φωνητικά της Alissa White-Gluz η οποία σε κάθε νέα κυκλοφορία των Arch Enemy φροντίζει να μας εκπλήσσει με το εύρος των φωνητικών της ικανοτήτων και να μας σαγηνεύει με το ερμηνευτικό της πάθος. Κάπως έτσι φτάνουμε στην ιδιαίτερα σύντομη, έκτη κατά σειρά, instrumental σύνθεση του άλμπουμ, με τίτλο Presage που ούτε κατά διάνοια προμηνύει αυτό που έρχεται. Από εδώ και κάτω ακολουθεί ένας πραγματικός καταιγισμός ξεσηκωτικών συνθέσεων φτιαγμένων για να απογειώσουν τον ακροατή τόσο στον ιδιωτικό του χώρο όσο και στις συναυλιακές αρένες.

Tο Blood Dynasty, το Paper Tiger, το The Pendulum και το Liars & Thieves σκάνε το ένα μετά το άλλο σαν μανιασμένα κύματα σε ακτή, βομβαρδίζοντας τον ακροατή με απανωτές δόσεις ενέργειας, μελωδίας και death metal  γκρούβας  που μόνο οι Arch Enemy ξέρουν να δημιουργούν.  Όπως όλα τα άλμπουμ τους έτσι και αυτό χαρακτηρίζεται από μια μοναδική, ξεχωριστή, αποκλειστικά δική του ατμόσφαιρα. Ιδιαίτερα σημαντική στη δημιουργία αυτής της ατμόσφαιρας είναι η συμβολή της ένατης σύνθεσης. Του Vivre Libre. Το Vivre Libre είναι μια μπαλάντα, σύνθεση του Γαλλικού Heavy Metal συγκροτήματος Blaspheme, από το μακρινό 1985 με γαλλικό στοίχο και σημαίνει Ζήσε Ελεύθερος. Είναι η πρώτη φορά που οι Arch Enemy χρησιμοποιούν μια διασκευή σαν βασικό τραγούδι σε studio κυκλοφορία τους και όχι σαν Bonus Track. Η διασκευή είναι υπέροχη, ερμηνεύεται μοναδικά από την Alissa  και αποτελεί φανταχτερό στολίδι μέσα στον σκοτεινό ηχόκοσμο του Blood Dynasty.

Με ένα εξώφυλλο που ακροβατεί ανάμεσα στο συμβολισμό και το ρεαλισμό, φτιαγμένο από τον Alex Reisfar, ο οποίος είχε δημιουργήσει το artwork του Deceivers (2022) και του Will to Power (2017), οι Arch Enemy επέστρεψαν με ένα ακόμα εντυπωσιακό μουσικό ταξίδι, το Blood Dynasty. Ένα άλμπουμ με ένδεκα συνθέσεις γεμάτες ατόφια ενέργεια, απαράμιλλο συναίσθημα και μοναδικό πάθος.

Τα μηνύματα για εσωτερική πάλη και αντίσταση σε οτιδήποτε θέλει να μας τραβήξει στο σκοτάδι είναι διάχυτα σε όλο το άλμπουμ. Ο στίχος, ο τόνος και το ύφος των συνθέσεων είναι σταθερά προς αυτήν τη κατεύθυνση. Ακούγοντας το ομότιτλο τραγούδι έπιασα πολλές φορές τον εαυτό μου να σκέφτεται ασυναίσθητα και σε πλήρη αντίθεση με την αντιπολεμική κραυγή του Blood Dynasty,  την τρομερή διασκευή που είχαν κάνει οι Arch Enemy στο Kill With Power των Manowar. Ίσως γιατί ο ήχος των Arch Enemy χτίστηκε διαχρονικά πάνω σε συνθέσεις όπως η προαναφερθείσα, ίσως γιατί οι Σουηδοί έχουν το επικό στοιχείο χαραγμένο στη μουσική τους και στο αίμα τους, ίσως γιατί στο ομότιτλο τραγούδι της δωδέκατης αυτής εντυπωσιακής κυκλοφορίας τους, τραγικά ειρωνικά και αναπάντεχα, χτυπάει η καρδία του σύγχρονου Κόσμου σήμερα, όπως χτυπούσε δεκάδες, εκατοντάδες και χιλιάδες χρόνια πριν.

Arch Enemy release their twelfth album under the Century Media label, produced by the experienced Swedish Jens Bogren and with the thirty-five year old American Joey Concepcion as a replacement for the great Jeff Loomis on guitar. Michael Amott and Daniel Erlandsson remain the soul of the band and compose all the songs while the lyrics are written by Michael Amott and the charismatic Alissa White-Gluz . And I say charismatic Alissa White-Gluz because listening to the album you will see the range of her vocal talent that unfolds and is even more highlighted than in the previous Arch Enemy releases in which she participated.

Michael Amott with the announcement of the upcoming Blood Dynasty release had said: “We can’t wait for you to hear it and feel the energy we’ve put into every song on it.” He wasn’t wrong. Pure energy oozes out of every song, uniquely infused into the bleak musical landscape of unparalleled melodies and thunderous rhythms.

You will all have seen and heard the stunning Dream Stealer, the first song on the album. You will have felt the momentum and the unique emotions that emerge from this dark tale for grown-ups with its truly wonderful video clip. Don’t let the Dream Thief take the light that shines inside you and leave you alone in darkness and shadows.

It is admirable the way in which the musical compositions are placed and unfolded within the flow of this twelfth release of Arch Enemy. Illuminate the Path, March of the Miscreants, A Million Suns and Don’t Look Down that follow the impressive opener Dream Stealer pull you, one after the other, deeper and deeper into the world of Blood Dynasty. In a journey of exciting melodic death metal, through dark and enchanted paths full of sounds and images that come alive and gain substance with the impressive vocals of Alissa White-Gluz who in every new Arch Enemy release makes sure to surprise us with the range of her vocal abilities and captivate us with her interpretive passion. This is how we get to the particularly short, sixth in a row, instrumental composition of the album, entitled Presage, which doesn’t even remotely foreshadow what is to come. From here onwards, what follows is a veritable storm of uplifting compositions made to lift the listener both in their private space and in the concert arenas. Blood Dynasty, Paper Tiger, The Pendulum and Liars & Thieves burst one after the other like raging waves on a beach, bombarding the listener with repeated doses of energy, melody and death metal groove that only Arch Enemy know how to create.

Like all their albums, this one is characterized by a unique, special, exclusive atmosphere of its own. Especially important in creating this atmosphere is the contribution of the ninth composition. Vivre Libre. Vivre Libre is a ballad, a composition by the French Heavy Metal band Blaspheme, from the distant 1985 with a French lyric meaning Live Free. It is the first time Arch Enemy have used a cover as the main song on a studio release rather than a bonus track. The cover is wonderful, uniquely performed by Alissa and is a fancy gem within the dark echoes of Blood Dynasty.

With a cover that straddles the line between symbolism and realism, done by Alex Reisfar, who created the artwork for Deceivers (2022) and Will to Power (2017), Arch Enemy are back with another impressive musical journey, Blood Dynasty. An album of eleven compositions full of pure energy, unparalleled emotion and unique passion.

The messages of inner struggle and resistance to anything that wants to pull us into darkness are pervasive throughout the album. The lyrics, tone and style of the compositions are firmly in this direction.

Listening to the song of the same name I found myself many times thinking unconsciously and in complete contrast to the anti-war cry of Blood Dynasty, the awesome cover that Arch Enemy had done on Manowar’s Kill With Power. Perhaps because Arch Enemy’s sound has been timelessly built on compositions like the aforementioned, perhaps because the Swedes have the epic element engraved in their music and in their blood, perhaps because the title track of this twelfth impressive release, tragically ironic and unexpected, beats the heart of the modern World today, as it did tens, hundreds and thousands of years ago.

H Century Media Records είναι περήφανη που ανακοινώνει την υπογραφή της συμφωνίας με τους Σουηδούς ORBIT CULTURE. Με καταγωγή από τη μικρή πόλη Eksjö της Σουηδίας (που βρίσκεται μεταξύ των σεβαστών metal πόλεων του Γκέτεμποργκ και της Στοκχόλμης), το κουαρτέτο (κιθαρίστας και τραγουδιστής Niklas Karlsson, κιθαρίστας Richard Hansson, μπασίστας Fredrik Lennartsson και ντράμερ Christopher Wallerstedt) έχει εξελιχθεί σε μια παγκόσμια δύναμη, ενώνοντας μεταξύ τους, riffs που είναι εξίσου thrash, death metal και industrial με εντυπωσιακά hooks και μια πολυεπίπεδη ατμόσφαιρα που προσκαλεί τη σύγκριση με τους GOJIRA, METALLICA και STATIC-X, ενώ παράλληλα σμιλεύει κάτι που είναι μοναδικά δικό τους.

Century Media Records is proud to announce the signing of Sweden’s modern metal standard bearers, ORBIT CULTURE. Hailing from the small town of Eksjö, Sweden (located between the revered metal cities of Gothenburg and Stockholm), the quartet (guitarist and vocalist Niklas Karlsson, guitarist Richard Hansson, bassist Fredrik Lennartsson and drummer Christopher Wallerstedt) has grown into a global force, melding together, riffs that are equal parts thrash, death metal and industrial with arresting hooks and a layered atmosphere that invites comparison to GOJIRA, METALLICA and STATIC-X while carving out something that is uniquely their own.

At the time of this announcement, the band is #1 on Sirius XM’s Liquid Metal Following the U.S. tour, ORBIT CULTURE will then embark on an extensive tour of Europe, fittingly titled, the “Descending Into Madness” tour.

Ov Sulfur is the sound of a musical left-hand path that is nothing short of sonically jarring, lyrically blasphemous and utterly epic in its delivery. On March 24th they released their debut album The Burden Ov Faith, on Century Media and it’s a KILLER!!! We had to talk to the band and specifically Chase Wilson, the band’s guitarist!

Ο κιθαρίστας Markus Vanhala σχολιάζει για το κομμάτι: “Αυτό είναι ένα καλό παράδειγμα ενός τραγουδιού που μεγαλώνει και βρίσκει τα δικά του φτερά κατά τη διάρκεια της διαδικασίας στο στούντιο. Αυτό έχει σίγουρα μια κινηματογραφική αίσθηση- η ιστορία χρειάζεται την ουσία του ταξιδιού που προχωράει μπροστά. Στην πραγματικότητα, έκανα ένα φινλανδικό φωνητικό demo για αυτό, διαβάζοντας και φωνάζοντας την ιστορία του Niilo, αλλά μόνο το όνομα έμεινε και μεταφράστηκε από το ‘Noidanmetsästäjä’ στα αγγλικά. Αλλά αυτό είναι μια άλλη ιστορία και μια μυστική εκδοχή που δεν θα βρεθεί ποτέ από τους ‘ξένους’… :)”

Ο μπασίστας/τραγουδιστής Niilo Sevänen προσθέτει: “Αυτή είναι η σύνθεση του Markus Vanhala- στην πραγματικότητα δεν ακούγεται πραγματικά σαν το αρχετυπικό τραγούδι των Insomnium και έχει μερικά πολύ ενδιαφέροντα στοιχεία. Ο κιθαρίστας Ville Friman καταλήγει: “Για μένα, αυτό το τραγούδι έχει μια πολύ έντονη κινηματογραφική αίσθηση και μπορώ εύκολα να ταξιδέψω στην ιστορία στο κεφάλι μου όταν κλείνω τα μάτια μου”.

On February 24th, Finnish metal melancholists INSOMNIUM will release their ninth full-length, Anno 1696, via Century Media Records. Based on a short story by Niilo Sevänen (bass/vocals), Anno 1696 is woven with sorrow and the last crumbling vestiges of hope. For a preview of this upcoming album, the new single, “The Witch Hunter”, can be streamed now here; the visualizer (created by David Minall//Cloud Music Typography) can be watched above.

Guitarist Markus Vanhala comments about the track: “This is a good example of a song growing and finding its own wings during the studio process. This one definitely has a cinematic feel; the storyline needs the essence of journey moving forward. In fact, I made a Finnish vocal demo for this one, reading and screaming Niilo’s storyline, but only the name stayed and translated from ‘Noidanmetsästäjä’ to English. But that’s another story and a secret version never to be found by ‘outsiders’… :)”

Bassist/vocalist Niilo Sevänen adds: “This is Markus Vanhala’s composition; it actually does not really sound like the archetypal Insomnium song and has some very interesting elements. One of the songs that improved the most in the studio in my opinion – and became one of the singles. Lyrically it continues to tell the story from the Witch Hunter’s point of view.”

Guitarist Ville Friman concludes: “For me, this song has a really strong cinematic feel to it, and I can easily travel into the story in my head when I close my eyes.”

Εξαιρετικά ενεργητικό και γρήγορο το άλμπουμ σας δίνει ένα feel-good συναίσθημα σε όλη του τη διάρκεια. Τα κιθαριστικά σόλο ενισχύουν τη μελωδική πλευρά του death metal των ARCH ENEMY, η Alissa White-Gluz εναλλάσει τα growling φωνητικά της και περνάει σε καθαρά προκειμένου να εξυπηρετήσει καλύτερα τα τραγούδια καταφέρνοντας να προσθέσει ποικιλία. Μου άρεσαν ιδιαίτερα τα Spreading Black Wings, Poisoned Arrow και One Last Time ενώ παραμένω μεγάλη fun του ομώνυμου κομματιού και νομίζω έβγαλα απ’ τη θέση του ένα σπόνδυλο στο The Watcher. Νομίζω ότι η ενεργή δημιουργική συμμετοχή του Daniel Erlandsson (το θηρίο πίσω από τα τύμπανα του AE) έδωσε στο τελικό αποτέλεσμα του δίσκου έναν αχτύπητο ρυθμικό τόνο.

Όπως σε όλη τη δημιουργική του πορεία ο Amott δείχνει για άλλη μια φορά τις κλασικές του καταβολές επιλέγοντας να συμπεριλάβει ως bonus tracks διασκευές στο Into The Pit των FIGHT (συγκρότημα του Rob Halford) και στο Diamond Dreamer των PICTURE.

Το Deceivers, που κυκλοφορεί από την Century Media, είναι κατά τη γνώμη μου ένα απόλυτο must have για κάθε metalhead που ασχολείται με το melodic death metal. Ο γρήγορος ρυθμός του, τα πιασάρικα τραγούδια και οι μελωδίες του, μαζί με την κρυστάλλινη αλλά και ογκώδη παραγωγή του Jacob Hansen το καθιστούν μια από τις καλύτερες κυκλοφορίες του 2022. Μην διστάσετε, κάντε το μέρος της συλλογής σας και να το ακούσετε δυνατά!

ARCH ENEMY have done it again… With relentless catchy riffs, heavy atmospheres intertwining with gloomy ones Deceivers is the perfect soundtrack for your summer vacation with heavy chances of remaining in your player for a lot longer after that. We had a good taste of Deceivers from the singles the band had released so far but this album turned out to be a banger through and through.

Michael Amott delivers a deeply melodic with many classic influences from JUDAS PRIEST (Handshake With Hell) to MOTLEY CREW (In The Eye Of The Storm) but also many diverse ideas. Highly energetic and fast the album gives you a feel-good feeling through and through. The guitar solos enhance the melodic side of ARCH ENEMY’s death metal, Alissa White-Gluz steps out of her growling vocals and into clean ones in order to better serve the songs managing to add variety. I particularly enjoyed Spreading Black Wings, Poisoned Arrow and One Last Time while I remain a big fun of the title track and I think I dislocated a spine disk headbanging to The Watcher. I think that the active creative participation of Daniel Erlandsson (the beast behind AE’s drums) gave the final result of the album an unbeatable rhythmic tone. As in all his creative process Amott shows once more his classic roots by choosing to include to covers as bonus tracks on FIGHT’s (Rob Halford’s band) Into The Pit and PICTURE’s Diamond Dreamer.

Deceivers, out now through Century Media, is in my opinion an absolute must have for every metalhead into melodic death metal. Its fast pace, its catchy song writing and melodies, along with the crystal yet massive production of Jacob Hansen make it one of the best releases of 2022. Don’t hesitate, make it a part of your collection and blast it loud!

Το We Are The Apocalypse που κυκλοφορεί στις 18 Μαρτίου από την Century Media Records περιλαμβάνει τόσο το χαρακτηριστικό black metal που έχουν προσφέρει οι ARK FUNERAL στο παρελθόν αλλά και κάποιες βαθύτερες ατμόσφαιρες με τολμηρούς πειραματισμούς. Όπως περιγράφουν οι Ahriman & Heljarmadr “Είναι κάτι πρωτόγνωρο, αλλά χρησιμοποιήσαμε μερικές καθαρές κιθάρες σε αυτόν τον δίσκο (στο When I‘m Gone και στο Leviathan) γιατί απλά ταίριαζε τόσο καλά με αυτό που έκανε η μουσική. Δεν είμαι σίγουρος αν ο κόσμος το έχει καταλάβει ακόμα, αλλά γράφω σχεδόν όλα τα riff ακουστικά. Το κάνω αυτό γιατί πρέπει να ακούσω τους ήχους όπως είναι για να βρω τις αρμονίες που είχα στο μυαλό μου. Μόνο αφού το κάνω αυτό, μπορώ να μετατρέψω αυτές τις αρμονίες στις δικές μου σατανικές συμφωνίες”.

Κατά τη γνώμη μου, οι καθαρές κιθάρες εξυπηρετούν τα τραγούδια με τρόπο που δεν στερούν τη βαρύτητα ούτε τις σκοτεινές ατμόσφαιρες, οπότε μην βιαστείτε να κρίνετε το αποτέλεσμα. Η αλήθεια είναι ότι πρόκειται για μια κυκλοφορία που πρέπει να την ακούσετε δυνατά και σας εγγυώμαι ότι θα σας «ρουφήξει» στο υπέροχο σκοτάδι της. Βαθιές σκοτεινές ατμόσφαιρες, ταχύτατα κιθαριστικά riffs και εκρηκτικό drumming. Με τραγούδια όπως τα When I Am Gone, Nightfall, A Beast To Praise, Leviathan και το ομώνυμο κομμάτι, είναι σίγουρα σε καλό δρόμο για μια θέση στις δέκα καλύτερες κυκλοφορίες του 2022 και ένα από τα πιο αναμενόμενα που θα ζήσετε ζωντανά!

ARK FUNERAL are one of the bands who have forged the genre of black metal. This weigh lies heavy on their “shoulders” as they present each release because expectations are high and fans are “bloodthirsty” to criticize. In the case of their latest release however, I think that fans will be over the top and haters will have far too few things to say!

We Are The Apocalypse out Marth 18^th on Century Media Records includes both the trademark black metal ARK FUNERAL has offered in the past but also some deeper atmospheres with daring experimentation. As described by Ahriman & Heljarmadr “It’s a first, but we used some clean guitars on this record (on When I’m Gone and Leviathan) because it just fit so well with what the music was doing. I’m not sure if people have picked up on it yet, but I write pretty much all the riffs acoustically. I do that because I need to hear the tones as they are in order to find the harmonies that I had in my head. It’s only after doing this that I can transform these harmonies into my own Satanic symphonies.”

In my opinion, the clean guitars serve the songs in a way that they don’t deprive the heaviness nor the dark atmospheres, so don’t be too quick to judge the result. Truth be told, this is a release that needs to be blasted loud and I guarantee it will suck you in its magnificent darkness. Deep dark atmospheres, fast paced guitar riffs and blasting drumming. With songs like When I Am Gone, Nightfall, A Beast To Praise, Leviathan and the title track, it’s most definitely on track for a place in the top ten releases of 2022 and one of the most anticipated to be experienced live!

Στην πραγματικότητα, τίποτα δεν θα μπορούσε να απέχει περισσότερο από την αλήθεια όταν πρόκειται για τους Arch Enemy και το νέο μας άλμπουμ, ‘Deceivers’. Είναι αναμφίβολα πάντα μια πρόκληση να ανεβάζουμε τον πήχη κάθε φορά τόσο στο κομμάτι της σύνθεσης όσο και της παραγωγής και μπορεί να νιώθουμε λίγο τρομακτικοί πριν μπούμε σε αυτό. “Having just celebrated our 25th anniversary as a group and now releasing our 11th studio album, one could easily assume that we would be cruising along and going through the motions at this point. In reality, nothing could be further from the truth when it comes to Arch Enemy and our new album, ‘Deceivers‘. It is without a doubt always a challenge to raise the bar each time in both the songwriting and production side of things, and it can feel a bit daunting before we get into it. But once we do get started and fully immerse ourselves in the creative process, it’s really like there is nothing else in the world and we are very focused. And believe it or not, for the most part, we have a ton of fun making this music! Creating ‘Deceivers‘ was no different, once again we shut out the outside world and went deep into the artistic zone. Swedish black metal pioneers DARK FUNERAL present the first single and video “Let The Devil In”, taken off their upcoming full-length album “We Are The Apocalypse”, which will be released on March 18th, 2022 via Century Media Records.

The unforgiving darkness of this brand-new track perfectly fits the gory and sinister atmosphere of the video – filmed, directed and edited by Grupa13 – giving a good foretaste of what you can expect from “We Are The Apocalypse”.

Guitarist and band founder Lord Ahriman states, “It is with great pleasure that we can hereby offer you a first taste of our upcoming album ‘We Are The Apocalypse’ with the track ‘Let The Devil In’. It may be a slightly different song from us, but it still holds the true darkness and spirit that is Dark Funeral. It was obvious to all of us that this would be the song that we set the bar with and premiere first. The song also comes with a video, which we recorded in Wroclaw, Poland together with Grupa13. It really was a great pleasure to work with such a professional team. The result is outstanding and fits this completely dark story that is ‘Let The Devil In’ very well.”

Όταν έσκασε η είδηση της κυκλοφορίας του Moonflowers μαζί με τις ορχηστικές εκδόσεις που έσκαγαν μια κάθε εβδομάδα η αναμονή έγινε βασανιστική. Παρασκευή 19 Νοεμβρίου επιτέλους ολοκληρώνεται η αναμονή και ακούμε ένα ολοκαίνουριο άλμπουμ που δεν ξεφεύγει από τη γνωστή σκοτεινή βελούδινη καταχνιά που χαρακτηρίζει το ατμοσφαιρικό doom των Φινλανδών μόνο που το υλικό τους είναι διανθισμένο από black πινελιές που το κάνουν άκρως ενδιαφέρον!

Με 8 συνθέσεις στο γνώριμο ύφος της μπάντας και εναλλαγή καθαρών και growl φωνητικών το Moonflowers δεν είναι μια κυκλοφορία που μας εκπλήσσει με τις καινοτομίες της όμως έχει μέσα κάποιες στιγμές που θα μας συνοδεύουν για καιρό, όπως το Keep Your Heart Safe From Me, All Hallow’s Grief (feat. OCEANS OF SLUMBER’s Cammie Gilbert) αλλά και το προσωπικό αγαπημένο του άλμπουμ This House Has No Home (feat. Stam1na’s Antti Hyyrynen). Για μένα οι Swallow The Sun ήταν και παραμένουν η νέα γενιά του ατμοσφαιρικού doom που δεν ανεβάζει ταχύτητα αλλά χρησιμοποιεί καθαρά φωνητικά θυμίζοντας το ύφος των KATATONIA. Ωστόσο σε αυτή την κυκλοφορία με το This House Has No Home με κάνουν να αναρωτιέμαι αν κλείνουν το μάτι στο post black metal των HARAKIRI FOR THE SKY. Ο ίδιος ο Raivio δηλώνει σχετικά με τις «πληγές» από τις οποίες προέρχεται αυτή η κυκλοφορία: “Γνωρίζω ότι πιθανότατα δεν θα έπρεπε να το πω αυτό αλλά μισώ βαθιά αυτό το άλμπουμ. Μισώ το που με πηγαίνει και το τι αντιπροσωπεύει για μένα. Εύχομαι να μη το έκανε. Αλλά με όλη του την αλήθεια, δεν έχω καμία επιλογή παρά να το αγαπώ. Το εξώφυλλο του Moonflowers είναι φτιαγμένο από αποξηραμένα λουλούδια που είχε μαζέψει ο Raivio και το αίμα του για να βάψει το φεγγάρι. Οπότε που καταλήγουμε; Είναι το Moonflowers ένα από τα άλμπουμ της χρονιάς; Όχι αλλά έχει μέσα του στιγμές που αξίζουν να μείνουν στην playlist σου για χρόνια.

When Swallow The Sun released SWALLOW THE SUN, 20 Years of Gloom Beauty and Despair Live in Helsinki last July we had no idea they already had an album ready with new songs. When the news hit us for the release of Moonflowers along with the orchestral version that were published one each week the wait for November 19^th became quite torturing. So yesterday the wait was finally over and we got to listen to the new album. Moonflowers is an album that doesn’t deviate from the familiar dark, velvety gloominess of the atmospheric doom Finns only this time they have enhanced it with black brushstrokes and have made the final result deeply interesting!

With 8 songs in the familiar sound of the band and the lingering between clean and growling vocals Moonflowers is not the release that will blow your mind with the ground breaking development of the band but is includes songs that will make you listen to over and over for a long time such as Keep Your Heart Safe From Me, All Hallow’s Grief (feat. OCEANS OF SLUMBER’s Cammie Gilbert) and my personal favorite This House Has No Home (feat. Stam1na’s Antti Hyyrynen). For me SWALLOW THE SUN were and remain the new generation of atmospheric doom that doesn’t accelerate the pace, but uses some clean vocals at times reminding the style of KATATONIA. However in this release with songs like This House Has No Home, I can’t help but wonder if they are flirting with the post black metal of HARAKIRI FOR THE SKY. So deep are the wounds from which Moonflowers surfaced that Raivio says about it: “I know well that I should not say this, but I deeply hate this album. I hate where it takes me, how it makes me feel, and what it stands for me. I wish it wouldn’t. But for all its honesty, I got no option than also [to] love it. That is all that matters to me with the music anyway. It doesn’t matter how it makes me feel, as long as it does.”

The artwork of Moonflowers is made of dried flowers Raivio had picked up but also his blood to paint the moon. So where do we stand? Is Moonflowers one of the best albums of the year? Now, but it includes some moments inside it that will be in your playlist for years to come.

The masters of melodic-hardcore are finally back! Today US-hardcore band IGNITE from Orange County, CA released their brand-new digital EP “Anti-Complicity Anthem” on all digital platforms. Including the incredible title track as well as the exclusive B-side “Turn XXI” that will be only available on this EP the band makes an impressive comeback.

On top of that IGNITE also deliver a powerful performance clip for “ANTI-COMPLICITY ANTHEM” . Furthermore, IGNITE finally announces after a lot of speculations their new vocalist. Eli Santana (Holy Grail) takes over the duties as the bands new singer and is currently recording a new album with the band.

Ποιοτικό Brutal Grind Death με πολλά core στοιχεία, ελάχιστα στοιχεία doom και φωνητικά που σε αρκετά σημεία θυμίζουν αγγίζουν με επιτυχία Black Metal περάσματα, είναι τα κύρια συστατικά που δημιουργούν την ταυτότητα του συγκεκριμένου άλμπουμ. Απαιτεί περισσότερες από μια ακροάσεις προκειμένου να έχει ο ακροατής πλήρη εικόνα για την αισθητική του. Ένα άλμπουμ με καταιγιστικούς ρυθμούς σε τύμπανα και riffs, με μεγάλη ποιότητα στις συνθέσεις και ιδιαίτερο death metal, στο ύφος που μας έχει συνηθίσει η μπάντα. Σε αυτό το άλμπουμ όμως θα διακρίνετε και αρκετά Black Metal στοιχεία με core επίσης επιρροές, στοιχεία τα οποία δένουν απόλυτα στις συνθέσεις και εκτοξεύουν την συνολική ποιότητα ένα σκαλί παραπάνω! Οι κιθάρες αποτελούν προσόν για την μπάντα και σε σύγκριση με την παραγωγή του άλμπουμ αδιαμφισβήτητα προσδίδουν όγκο, και ηγετική παρουσία!

Πρόκειται για ένα ιδιαίτερα τεχνικό Brutal Grind Death album που οι λάτρεις του είδους θα ξεχωρίσουν. Πέρασαν τρία γεμάτα χρόνια για την επιστροφή των Aborted αλλά η αναμονή άξιζε και με το παραπάνω. Εάν έχετε ως βάση ακούσματα από μπάντες όπως οι “Dying Fetus“, “Death Decline“ κτλ, τότε έχει επιλέξει σωστά! Είναι δεδομένο πως δεν θα σας απογοητεύσει το αποτέλεσμα και η συνολική εικόνα.

Οι “Aborted” δημιούργησαν ένα άλμπουμ που με διαφορά, θα δώσει κίνητρο και χώρο για περισσότερους πειραματισμούς και δημιουργικότητα από μπάντες που έχουν στόχο να ξεχωρίσουν. Μην χάσετε την ευκαιρία! Ακούστε το.

It is literally difficult to sustain a powerful name in the metal scene while remaining one of the most eligible and interesting bands in the extreme metal genre. One of the most talked about bands within the metal fans is releasing its 11^th studio album, entitled “Maniacult”. The time is here for the new release of the Belgians Aborted out September 10^th on Century Media which offers the following message loud and clear: “Some bands just can’t escape their roots!”

High quality Brutal Grind Death with many core elements, a few doom touches and vocals that in some parts remind us (in a very attractive way) Black Metal shades, are the main ingredients that compile the identity of this album. This is a release that requires more than one listen in order to comprehend the aesthetics. An album with devastating drumming and riffs, high standard quality in the synthesis and extra ordinary death metal, in the vein of the trademark sound of the band. However in this album you can trace, quite a few Black Metal elements and many core influences. Elements that entwine ideally with the music and elevated the level of the final result a step higher! Guitars are a huge plus for the band which in comparison to the production of the album, they offer volume and hold the leading part!

We have in our hands a particularly technical Brutal Grind Death album, fans of the genre will favor. It’s been three full years for Aborted to come back, but it was more than worth the wait. If you enjoy listening to bands such as “Dying Fetus”, “Death Decline” etc, then you have chosen right! It is certain that it will not disappoint you!

“Aborted” have created an album that will fire up experimentation and creativity for other bands, as well, to go a step further and make a difference. Don’t miss it out! Listen loud!

Ο λόγος για την έβδομη full length  κυκλοφορία των Αμερικανών black metallers “Wolves in the throne room” από την Olympia της Washington των Ηνωμένων πολιτειών της Αμερικής, με τον τίτλο Primordial Arcana που κυκλοφορεί 20 Αυγούστου από τη Century Media. Δεν νομίζω πως χωράνε πολλά σχόλια για μια μπάντα σαν αυτή οπότε ούτε προφανώς και για την συγκεκριμένη κυκλοφορία.

Η μπάντα αποδεικνύει για μια ακόμη φορά το πόσο ψηλά έχει θέση τον πήχη, παρουσιάζοντας σε 7 συνθέσεις διάρκειας σχεδόν 45 λεπτών και πατώντας στην γνωστή θεματολογία τους, ένα ” Έπος” που θα θυμίσει αρκετά τα πρώιμα πατήματα των In the Woods, κάτι από Old Man‘s Child, τους εκπληκτικούς Altar of plagues αλλά και τους τεράστιους Agalloch. Το ατμοσφαιρικό Black metal που παρουσιάζει η μπάντα είναι αδιαμφισβήτητα ένα ταξίδι στο χρόνο δημιουργώντας μια μοναδική αισθητική.

Μελωδίες, mid tempo σημεία, folk στοιχεία, black metal ξεσπάσματα, ατμοσφαιρική διάθεση και συνθέσεις που καθηλώνουν με την πολυπλοκότητα τους, είναι τα κύρια χαρακτηριστικά του συγκεκριμένου άλμπουμ! Δείγμα της ποιότητας των μουσικών (των αδερφών Aaron & Nathan Weaver) και της ικανότητας τους να συνθέτουν μοναδικά συνθέσεις με πολυπλοκότητα. Κιθάρες και τύμπανα σε καταιγιστικούς ρυθμούς αλλά και σε mid tempo μονοπάτια σε συνδυασμό με τα άριστα φωνητικά ως προς την αισθητική πλευρά της μουσικής τους, συνθέτουν ένα πραγματικό “Έπος”. Ένα άλμπουμ που θα αποτελέσει “ηγετική παρουσία” στην φετινή λίστα με τις καλύτερες κυκλοφορίες.

If there’s one thing keeping metal music alive, while creating the foundation for new bands to experiment and create, it’s the thirst of the artists to express their inner selves through their music.  On that note comes a very special release for 2021, which will most definitely be included in the year’s highlights.

I am referring to the seventh full length release of the American black metallers “Wolves in the throne room” from Olympia, Washington, USA entitled Primordial Arcana which will be out on August 20^th through Century Media. Two decades into their journey we need not say much to introduce them.

The band proves once more how high they’ve set the bar, by presenting 7 new songs of 45 minutes total duration, set in their familiar paths. An opus which will remind you of early In the Woods, bits of Old Man’s Child, the amazing Altar of plagues and the impeccable Agalloch. The atmospheric black metal presented by the band is beyond doubt a journey through time creating a unique aesthetic result.

Melodies, mid-tempo parts, folk elements, black metal outbursts, atmospheric mood and songwriting that indulges you with their complexity, are the main characteristics of this particular album! An obvious sample of the musical craftsmanship of the musicians (brothers Aaron & Nathan Weaver) and their skill to create unique elaborate songs. Devastating guitar riffing and drumming but also mid-tempo paths, combined with excelling vocals, in accordance to the aesthetics of their style, add up to an undisputable Opus! Primordial Arcana is a release which already has a place high on the lists with 2021’s best albums!

Δύο δεκαετίες από την αρχή του ταξίδιου τους, βγήκαν από το δάσος με το “Primordial Arcana“, το πιο μεγαλειώδες άλμπουμ τους μέχρι σήμερα, και την πρώτη τους κυκλοφορία μέσω των Century Media Records (εκτός ΗΠΑ και Καναδά) και Relapse Records ( ΗΠΑ και Καναδάς) στις 20 Αυγούστου.

Στο βίντεο, μας ταξιδεύουν στην Cascadia, μια βιοπεριφέρεια που έχει μεγάλη επιρροή για την αισθητική και τον ήχο της μπάντας. Από τα δάση στο “Mountain Magick” και τα ποτάμια και τα ρέματα στο “Spirit of Lightning” τα ακολουθούμε στον ωκεανό στο τελευταίο τους βίντεο για το “Primal Chasm (Gift of Fire)”.

Wolves In The Throne Room Release Official Video for new song “Primal Chasm (Gift of Fire)” Taken From “Primordial Arcana”

Two decades into their journey as ritualistic black metal conjurers, Wolves In The Throne Room have emerged from the forest with “Primordial Arcana”, their most majestic album to date, and their first release via Century Media Records (outside of USA and Canada) and Relapse Records (USA and Canada) out August 20th.

In the visuals the band is taking us on a journey through Cascadia, a bioregion that has been highly influential for the band’s aesthetics and sound. From the forests in “Mountain Magick” and rivers and streams in “Spirit of Lightning” we are following them to the ocean in their latest video for “Primal Chasm (Gift of Fire)”.

The band comments: “’Primal Chasm (Gift of Fire)’ is an explosion of cosmic grandeur, a symphonic rendering of the hermetic maxim As above, so below. The lyrics are a dreamtime retelling of creation. The act of the universe creating itself comes from the same impulse—it all springs from the same source, the same union of fire and ice. It’s the interplay between polarized opposites, and it’s from their contradiction and chaos that life happens and music and the planets are created.”

Οι σκοτεινοί ατμοσφαιρικοί Φινλανδοί γιορτάζουν τα 20 χρόνια της ιστορίας τους, όχι όπως αρχικά είχαν προγραμματίσει αλλά με ένα μοναδικά σαγηνευτικό και σκοτεινό άλμπουμ. Βλέπεις είχαν προγραμματίσει εκτενή περιοδεία σε Ευρώπη και Αμερική αλλά ο covid είχε άλλα σχέδια. Έτσι όταν στις αρχές του Φεβρουαρίου του 2020 κατέγραψαν τη συγκεκριμένη κυκλοφορία δεν ήξεραν ότι θα καταλήξει να είναι αυτή η «γενέθλια τούρτα» και το «πάρτι των γενεθλίων» τους μαζί!

Για να μπούμε στα αμιγώς μουσικά η κυκλοφορία των Swallow The Sun είναι συγκρινόμενη, ειδικά με όλα τα live που έχουν βγει τελευταία, η πιο ενδιαφέρουσα για τα δικά μου πρότυπα. Η μπάντα δίνει μια εξαιρετική ερμηνεία, μάλιστα ο Mikko Kotamäki θεωρεί ότι κάποια τραγούδια είναι καλύτερα παιγμένα και από την αυθεντική ηχογράφηση. Παίζουν ολόκληρο το Songs from the North II με τη συνοδεία κουαρτέτου εγχόρδων και το σετ λιστ περιλαμβάνει τραγούδια που ψήφισε ο κόσμος μέσα από τα social media της μπάντας.

Κυκλοφορία που φωτίζει όλες τις σκοτεινές πλευρές της δισκογραφίας της μπάντας με κρυστάλλινη ηχογράφηση και παραγωγή, συμπεριλαμβανομένου του κουαρτέτου εγχόρδων, σίγουρα αποτελεί κόσμημα για τη δισκοθήκη κάθε συλλέκτη. Ένα υπέροχο στοιχειωτικό μουσικό ταξίδι όπως μόνο οι Swallow The Sun μπορούν να μας προσφέρουν… Κυκλοφορία που φτιάχτηκε για να γίνει κλασσική!

On one of the hottest days of the summer of 2021, July 30^th one of the darkest, gloomiest, enchanting live albums you will listen to is being released, and it’s no other than Swallow The Sun’s 20 Years of Gloom Beauty and Despair Live in Helsinki out tomorrow on Century Media Records.

The dark atmospheric Finns celebrate their 20 years of history, not exactly as planned but with a uniquely stimulating dark album. You see the initial plan was to tour Europe and the US but covid had other plans. So in the beginning of February 2020 they recorded their appearance in Helsinki not knowing this would end up to be both their “birthday cake” and “party”.

Getting down to the musical part of the release, the Swallow The Sun live album is by far, at least according to my standards, the most interesting release lately. The band performs at the top of it’s game, and for the sake of the argument, Mikko Kotamäki himself, believes they performed some of the songs better than the original recording. They play the entire Songs from the North II accompanied by a string quartet while the set list includes songs voted by their fans through their social media.

This is a release that highlights all the dark and gloomy sides of the band’s discography with a crystal-clear recording and production, including the string quartet, and is most definitely a true gem for your personal collection. A magnificent haunting musical journey the way only Swallow The Sun can guide us through… This is a release bound to be a classic!

Οι Φινλανδοί πρωτοπόροι του μελωδικού death metal INSOMNIUM παρουσιάζουν το νέο τους single “The Antagonist” και ανακοινώνουν την κυκλοφορία του EP “Argent Moon”, το οποίο θα κυκλοφορήσει παγκοσμίως στις 17 Σεπτεμβρίου 2021 μέσω της Century Media Records.

Όπως τα single που κυκλοφόρησαν πρόσφατα – “The Conjurer” και “The Reticent” το “The Antagonist” είναι ένα από τα τέσσερα τραγούδια που θα προβληθούν σε αυτό το EP.

Ο frontman Niilo Sevänen δηλώνει σχετικά με το πώς δημιουργήθηκε το EP του “Argent Moon”:

“Όταν ξέσπασε η πανδημία της Corona μας ανάγκασε να ακυρώσουμε όλες τις περιοδείες μας και τις συναυλίες, σύντομα μπήκαμε στην ιδέα ότι καλύτερα να κάνουμε κάτι και να διατηρηθούμε ενεργοί. Θέλαμε να δοκιμάσουμε πώς λειτουργούν τα streaming events. Θέλαμε να δούμε τι είδους νέα μουσική μπορεί να αναπτυχθεί στο σκοτάδι και τη δυστυχία της καραντίνας. Και σύντομα αυτά τα vibes διοχετεύτηκαν σε τραγούδια που έγιναν το EP του “Argent Moon”.

Θέλαμε να δοκιμάσουμε κάτι λίγο διαφορετικό, έτσι και τα τέσσερα τραγούδια αυτής της κυκλοφορίας αντιπροσωπεύουν την πιο soft πλευρά των Insomnium. Μπαλάντες και απαλές μελωδίες. Ακουστικές κιθάρες και καθαρά φωνητικά. Η θλίψη και η αγωνία που σέρνεται στην καρδιά σας όταν μεγαλώνουν οι νύχτες. Αλλά μην φοβάστε, δεν έχουμε αλλάξει το στυλ μας. Το επόμενο άλμπουμ θα είναι κάτι διαφορετικό ξανά. Χρησιμοποιήσαμε όλες τις ιδέες για μπαλάντες εδώ, οπότε ίσως να είναι καθαρά blast beats. Θα δούμε.“

INSOMNIUM releases single and video for “The Antagonist” and announces release of “Argent Moon” EP

Finnish melodic death metal pioneers INSOMNIUM present their new single “The Antagonist” and announce the release of the “Argent Moon” EP, which will be released worldwide on September 17th, 2021 via Century Media Records.

Like the previously released singles – “The Conjurer“ and “The Reticent“ – “The Antagonist“ is one of the four songs which will be featured on this EP.

Frontman Niilo Sevänen about how the “Argent Moon” EP came to be:
“When the Corona outbreak forced us to cancel all the tours and shows, we pretty soon adopted a mindset that we better do something and keep ourselves in motion. We wanted to try how the streaming shows might work. We wanted to see what kind of new music might grow in the darkness and misery of the quarantine. And soon these vibes were channeled into songs that came to be the “Argent Moon” EP.

We wanted to try something a bit different so all the four songs on this release represent the softer side of Insomnium. The ballads and the mellow tunes. Acoustic guitars and clean vocals. The sorrow and agony that creeps into your heart when the nights grow longer. But fear not, we haven’t changed our style. Next album will be something different again. We used all the ballad ideas here so maybe it will be pure blast beats. We shall see.

The “The Antagonist” video is something new and fresh too, since we worked with director & mastermind Ville Lipiäinen for the first time ever. The result is a bit different kind of Insomnium montage.“
