Θα μου επιτρέψετε να ξεκινήσω λέγοντας για  ακόμα μία φορά πως ο Will Ramos είναι ολόκληρη η σημασία της έκφρασης “the gift that keeps on giving”. Είναι ένας από τους πιο ευέλικτους και τεχνικά ικανότερους τραγουδιστές του extreme metal αυτή τη στιγμή (και ό,τι καλύτερο μπορούσε να συμβεί στους Lorna Shore). Το φωνητικό του εύρος είναι αδιανόητο, από τα χαμηλότερα γρυλίσματα που μοιάζουν να αναδύονται από τον πυρήνα της γης και τα νιώθεις στον σφυγμό σου, μέχρι τα πιο υψηλά φωνητικά του που θα μπορούσαν να συντρίψουν ό,τι διαπερνάνε. Κι όλα αυτά αγγίζοντας αδυσώπητα τα συναισθήματα του και κατ’ επέκταση και τα δικά μας.  

Από άποψη δομής το I Feel The Everblack Festering Within Me είναι στρωτό, δυναμικό και κατά μεγάλο ποσοστό καθηλωτικό. Είναι ένα άλμπουμ χωρίς κενά αλλά ακούγοντάς το αρχικά υπήρχαν λίγες στιγμές που ένιωθα πως κάποια μουσικά μέρη, κυρίως συμφωνικά, είναι εκεί απλά ως fillers; Ή για να το εκφράσω καλύτερα, απλά θα τα ήθελα λίγο πιο πλούσια; Δεν ήμουν ακριβώς σίγουρη, αλλά με λίγες ακόμα ακροάσεις ένιωσα πως τελικά όλα ήταν εκεί που έπρεπε, με κάθε πέρασμα να εξυπηρετεί το γενικότερο σκοπό του τραγουδιού.

Ο ρυθμός του άλμπουμ είναι άψογα διαχειρισμένος, με τις πιο έντονες στιγμές να ισορροπούνται από ατμοσφαιρικά ιντερλούδια που σου επιτρέπουν να πάρεις μια ανάσα πριν από το επόμενο blast-ίδι. Δεν είναι τόσο αδυσώπητα ωμό όσο το Pain Remains, το βρήκα λίγο πιο μελωδικό και κινηματογραφικό, και εξίσου ικανό να σε ταξιδέψει στις μοναδικές συναισθηματικές κοιλάδες των Lorna Shore, με την απομόνωση, τον εσωτερικό αγώνα και την αναζήτηση νοήματος σε έναν όλο και πιο χαοτικό κόσμο να είναι τα θέματα του album. 

Ερμηνευτικά  και εκτελεστικά είναι μάλλον όλοι ντοπαρισμένοι στην μπάντα αυτή. Τα τύμπανα και το μπάσο, ως συνήθως επιτίθενται στις αισθήσεις σου, προκαλώντας σου αυτή την γνώριμη πλέον αίσθηση κλειστοφοβίας. Οι κιθάρες χορεύουν στους τυπικούς αιματοβαμμένους ρυθμούς του deathcore αλλά και τους πιο κλασικούς μελωδικούς metal ρυθμούς. Οι πολυρυθμίες των Lorna Shore είναι απλά το κάτι άλλο και σε γενικές γραμμές θεωρώ πως το album αυτό αναδεικνύει μια μπάντα στο απόλυτο αποκορύφωμα των τεχνικών δυνατοτήτων της. 

Οι Lorna Shore με το I Feel The Everblack Festering Within Me  σίγουρα σπρώχνουν κάποια από τα όρια τους χωρίς όμως να ξεφεύγουν και πάρα πολύ από την γνωστή μεν, άκρως επιτυχέμενη δε, μουσική συνταγή των τελευταίων τριών κυκλοφοριών τους. Σίγουρα θα μπορούσαν να σπρώξουν τα όρια τους λίγο παραπάνω αλλά την δεδομένη στιγμή ίσως και να μην έχει και πολλή σημασία. Με το τελευταίο τους πόνημα και για ακόμα μία φορά, οι Lorna Shore καταφέρνουν να δώσουν συναισθηματικό βάθος, πολυπλοκότητα και να εκλεπτύνουν ένα είδος της extreme metal που είναι απελπιστικά και εξαντλητικά βαρύ στην ¨παραδοσιακή¨ του μορφή, απελευθερώνοντας τον εαυτό τους από τους περιορισμούς του είδους.

Οι Lorna Shore αποτελούνται αντικειμενικά από μουσικούς παγκόσμιας κλάσης που αποδεικνύουν ότι είναι ικανοί να δημιουργήσουν αψεγάδιαστη, καθηλωτική και συναισθηματικά γεμάτη μουσική, αλλά σίγουρα ανυπομονούμε να δούμε τι μας επιφυλάσσουν για το μέλλον. Προς το παρόν, αλλά και για άμεσο μέλλον, σίγουρα θα συνεχίσουν να είναι η αφρόκρεμα όχι μόνο της deathcore, αλλά και της extreme metal μουσικής σκηνής.

My first encounter with Lorna Shore was in 2021 after the release of their EP And I Return to Nothingness. Until then, I had almost no contact with this subgenre of extreme metal music simply because it never clicked with me. Since that release, Lorna Shore has been on an unstoppable upward trajectory, with Pain Remains (2022) putting them in the corridors of deathcore royalty. I Feel The Everblack Festering Within Me is Lorna Shore’s fifth studio album, scheduled for release on September 12 by Century Media, and here I will try to give you a very small taste of it just before its official release.

Allow me to begin by saying once again that Will Ramos is the very embodiment of the expression “the gift that keeps on giving.” He is one of the most versatile and technically skilled vocalists in extreme metal right now (and the best thing that could happen to Lorna Shore). His vocal range is unimaginable, from the lowest growls that seem to emerge from the core of the earth and make your pulse race, to his highest vocals that could crush anything they pierce. And all this while relentlessly reaching for his emotions and, by extension, ours.

In terms of structure, I Feel The Everblack Festering Within Me is solid, dynamic, and largely captivating. It is an album without gaps, but while listening to it for the first few times there were a few moments when I felt that some musical parts, mainly symphonic, were just there as fillers? Or to put it better, I just wanted them to be a little richer? I’m not exactly sure, but after a few more spins, I felt that everything was finally where it should be, with each passage serving the overall purpose of the song.

The pace of the album is flawlessly managed, with the most intense moments balanced by atmospheric interludes that allow you to catch your breath before the next blast-assault. It’s not as relentlessly raw as Pain Remains, I found it a little more melodic and cinematic, but equally capable of drawing you to the unique emotional valleys of Lorna Shore, with isolation, inner struggle, and the search for meaning in an increasingly chaotic world being the themes of the album. 

In terms of performance, well everyone in this band seems to be on a creativity hype. The drums and bass, as usual, assault your senses, giving you that familiar feeling of claustrophobia. The guitars dance to the typical blood-soaked rhythms of deathcore, but also to more classic melodic metal rhythms. Lorna Shore’s polyrhythmic patterns are simply something else, and in general, I think this album showcases a band at the absolute pinnacle of its abilities. 

With I Feel The Everblack Festering Within Me, Lorna Shore definitely push some of their boundaries without straying too far from their familiar and highly successful formula of their last three releases. They could certainly push their boundaries a little further, but at this point, it may not matter much. With their latest work, Lorna Shore once again manages to provide emotional depth and complexity, refining a genre of extreme metal that is typically hopelessly and exhaustingly heavy in its “traditional” form, freeing themselves from the constraints of the genre.

Lorna Shore is objectively comprised of world-class musicians who have proven themselves capable of creating flawless, captivating, and emotionally resonant music, and we are certainly looking forward to seeing what they have in store for us in the future. For now and and for the foreseeable future, they will certainly continue to be the cream of the crop not only of deathcore, but also of the extreme metal music scene.

Από το μακρινό αυτό 2013 βέβαια έχουν γίνει κάμποσα πράγματα, έξτρα ξεκατινιάσματα, αποχωρήσεις, μηνύσεις και άλλα τέτοια καλούδια, αλλά και ακόμα 3 album, το ένα καλύτερο από το άλλο. Με αποκορύφωμα, κατά την γνώμη του υπογράφοντα πάντα, την προηγούμενη δουλειά του σχήματος, το εκπληκτικό The Verdict, το οποίο και αποτελεί το στολίδι αυτής της μορφής των QUEENSRYCHE, αυτής της αναγέννησης. Η μπάντα λοιπόν δεν έχασε χρόνο, μιας και τα πάει περίφημα, συνεχίζει στον ίδιο ρυθμό και ως αποτέλεσμα, εγένετο το Digital Noise Alliance. Θα μπορούσα να περιοριστώ στην μιάμιση παράγραφο για να περιγράψω αυτό το νέο τους δισκογραφικό βήμα και αυτό όχι γιατί είναι τόσο καλό ή τόσο κακό, αλλά επειδή είναι φοβερά ξεκάθαρο.

Το Digital Noise Alliance, δυστυχώς έτυχε να κυκλοφορήσει μετά το εκπληκτικό The Verdict όπως προανέφερα και αυτό του στερεί από μόνο του πολλά. Αυτό που θα μπορούσε να είναι η συνέχεια και η “τελειοποίηση” του προκατόχου του, ακούγεται περισσότερο σαν prequel, σαν ένα βήμα πίσω, σαν τα “δομικά υλικά” πάνω στα οποία χτίστηκε ο προκάτοχος. Είναι κακό αυτό; Για κανένα λόγο, απλά είναι παράδοξο και καθιστά τον δίσκο “θύμα” των  περιστάσεων. Η συνολική ατμόσφαιρα του album είναι πάρα πολύ καλά δομημένη, με μια περίεργη νοσταλγία και εσωστρέφεια να έχει βρει τον τρόπο να περάσει σε κάθε κομμάτι. Τα κομμάτια βρίθουν μελωδιών όπως βρίθουν χαρακτηριστικών αρμονιών και δισολιών, την ταυτότητα σε μεγάλο βαθμό δηλαδή της μπάντας. Συμαζεμένη και μετρημένη prog-α όπως μόνο αυτοί ξέρουν να κάνουν και, συγνώμη που θα το θέσω τόσο απόλυτα, τον ουσιαστικό “βασιλιά” αυτού του δίσκου, τον La Torre. Η απόδοση του όπως και οι ερμηνείες του είναι μοναδικές. Έχει μεστώσει η φωνή του, πλέον έχει βαθύνει, έχει βρει πλήρως την ταυτότητα του. Τεράστια φωνή, frontman με κάθε έννοια και ουσία. Κάτι που δεν μπορώ να πω ακόμα για τον κατά τα άλλα αξιότατο Casey Grillo, που κάνει και το δισκογραφικό του ντεμπούτο με τους Ryche, κάπως μουδιασμένος ακόμα και “διεκπεραιωτικός”.

Όλη η μπάντα αναπνέει άψογα, κινείται συνολικά, με συνοχή και κοινή πλέον πορεία, και τους πάει, πολύ. Το Digital Noise Alliance μας συστήνεται με το καλημέρα, όπως αρχίζει έτσι κλείνει κιόλας, με την ίδια υφή και ταυτότητα, δεν έχει εκπλήξεις, δεν είναι όμως και μονότονος. Σίγουρα έχει τις δυνατές του στιγμές, αδιαμφισβήτητα και τα διαμάντια του. Τα Chapters, Lost In Sorrow και Behind The Wall  να αποτελούν instant repeat, με το δεύτερο δε να είναι ένα από τα καλύτερα τους κομμάτια εδώ και 2 δεκαετίες.  Δεν θα μπορούσα να αφήσω απέξω το κομμάτι που ουσιαστικά κλείνει τον δίσκο, το Tormentum, για το οποίο θα αρκεστώ να πω πως, πολλοί κλαίνε προκειμένου να μπορέσουν ή να μπουρούσαν γενικά να γράφουν έτσι. Την διασκευή στο Rebel Yell θα μου επιτρέψετε να μην την σχολιάσω καθόλου, δεν υπάρχει λόγος, κάτι που ισχύει και για την διασκευή.

Τι λείπει λοιπόν; Μα τα μεγάλα και ανατριχιαστικά refren, οι κιθαριστικές μελωδίες που θα σου σφυνοθούν στο κεφάλι για πάντα. Το Digital Noise Alliance αποτελεί έναν καλό δίσκο, με ώριμη ατμόσφαιρα και songwriting, όχι όμως ένα σπουδαίο δίσκο. Καλά μπροστά βέβαια στον απύθμενο πάτο που είχαν φτάσει, το λες και αριστούργημα.

QUEENSRYCHE, in the last 10 years, are a great example of rebirth from one’s ashes. A great example, that all that is needed sometimes is someone to take the wheel, a “frontman” who knows what he is doing, who has an essential vision. And this has actually been noticed from the first moment Todd La Torre set foot in the band. Yes, from that self-titled restart back in 2013, it became clear that no matter how low you fall, there is a way back.

Since then, of course, a lot of things have happened, extra drama, departures, lawsuits and other goodies like that, but also 3 albums, one better than the other. With highlight, in the opinion of the one writing these lines, the previous album, the amazing The Verdict, which is the crown jewel of this form of QUEENSRYCHE, of this renaissance. So the band wasted no time, since they are doing great so far, they continue at the same pace and as a result, Digital Noise Alliance was born. I could limit myself to a paragraph and a half to describe this new record and that’s not because it’s so good or so bad, but because it’s awesomely clear as to what it is.

Digital Noise Alliance unfortunately happened to be released after the amazing The Verdict as I mentioned above and that in itself takes a lot away from it. What could be a continuation, the “perfection” of its predecessor, sounds more like a prequel, like a step back, like the “building materials” on which the predecessor was built. Is this something bad? For no reason at all, it’s just a paradox and makes the record a “victim” of circumstances. The overall atmosphere of the album is very well structured, with a strange nostalgia and introspection that has found its way into every track. The tracks are full of melodies as they are full of distinct harmonies and double lead guitars, the band’s identity to a large extent. Well controlled prog elements, as much as needed, as only they know how to do and, sorry to put it in such absolution, the essential “king” of this record, La Torre. His performance as well as his warmth are unique. His voice has softened, it has deepened in a way, he has fully found his identity. Huge voice, a frontman in every sense and essence. Something I can’t say yet about the otherwise excellent Casey Grillo behind the drums, who also makes his debut with Ryche in this record, somewhat numb and even “holding back” is the feeling I got.

The whole band breathes flawlessly, moves as a whole, with cohesion and now a common course, and they are doing great. Digital Noise Alliance introduced itself  to us from the start, as it begins, it also ends, with the same texture, feel and identity, it has no surprises, but it is not monotonous either. It certainly has its strong moments, undeniably its gems. Chapters, Lost In Sorrow and Behind The Wall are instant repeats, with the second one being one of their best tracks in 2 decades. I couldn’t leave out the track that essentially closes the album, Tormentum, for which I’ll suffice to say that many people would give everything  in order to be able to write like that. As for the cover of Rebel Yell, you will allow me not to comment on it at all, there is no reason, which also applies to the cover.

So what’s missing? But the big and great choruses, the guitar melodies that stuck in your head forever. Digital Noise Alliance is a good record, with mature atmosphere and songwriting, but not a great record. Well ahead of course of the bottom they had reached in the past, you can easily call it a masterpiece.

To άλμπουμ ξεκινάει κινηματογραφικά θα λέγαμε, με μια εισαγωγή που συνδυάζει την metal μουσική, είναι όμορφη και σύντομη και κάνει μια εξαιρετική δουλειά στον να δημιουργήσει ατμόσφαιρα για τον τόνο του άλμπουμ.  Το υπόλοιπο άλμπουμ είναι φανταστικό, με κάποια κομμάτια να δημιουργούν ιδιαίτερη αίσθηση. Συγκεκριμένα το Divide & Conquer είναι σκληρό, με δυνατά riff, κάτι το οποίο κάποιος μπορεί να πει ότι ήταν αναμενόμενο από τον Romeo. Ακολουθούν τα ατμοσφαιρικά Destroyer και Metamorphosis τα οποία σου δίνουν την αίσθηση των SYMPHONY X. Το Before Dawn είναι μια πολύ όμορφη μπαλάντα, με εξαιρετική σύνθεση σε πιάνο το οποίο ταιριάζει απόλυτα με τις μελωδικές κιθάρες. Εδώ βλέπουμε και τις εκπληκτικές ικανότητες του Jelusick ο οποίος δίνει μια τέλεια συναισθηματική χροιά.

Κλείνοντας, μπορούμε να  πούμε ότι το War Of The Worlds Pt.2, καταφέρνει να είναι εξίσου διασκεδαστικό με τον προκάτοχό του. Ένα φανταστικό άλμπουμ με δυνατά riff, επικά solo, ισχυρά φωνητικά και μία άριστη μίξη progressive & power metal, όπως αναμενόταν από έναν από τους καλύτερους κιθαρίστες του είδους. Είτε κάνει περαιτέρω solo άλμπουμ είτε τελικά επιστρέψει με το κύριο συγκρότημα, πάντα θα είμαι ενθουσιασμένος και ανυπόμονος να ακούσω τη νέα του δουλειά

For the last few years, fans of the progressive metal band SYMPHONY X have been waiting patiently for a new album, but unfortunately, due to various commitments and events, it could not materialize. Meanwhile, guitarist Michael Romeo released an album titled War of the Worlds Pt.1 in 2018 and now 4 years later on March 25th he returns with War of the Worlds Pt.2

The album starts rather cinematically we could say, with an intro that combines metal music, it’s beautiful and short and does an excellent job in creating atmosphere for the tone of the album.  The rest of the album is fantastic, with some tracks creating a special feel. Divide & Conquer in particular is hard-hitting, with strong riffs, which one can say was to be expected from Romeo. Next up are the atmospheric Destroyer and Metamorphosis which give you a SYMPHONY X feel. Before Dawn is a very beautiful ballad, with excellent piano composition which fits perfectly with the melodic guitars. Here we also see the amazing skills of Jelusick who gives a perfect emotional tone.

In conclusion, we can say that War of the Worlds Pt.2, manages to be as entertaining as its predecessor. A fantastic album with powerful riffs, epic solos, strong vocals and an excellent mix of progressive & power metal, as expected from one of the best guitarists in the genre. Whether he makes further solo albums or eventually returns with the main band, I will always be excited and eager to hear his new work.

Ο κιθαρίστας και ιδρυτής του συγκροτήματος Lord Ahriman δηλώνει, «Με μεγάλη χαρά μπορούμε να σας προσφέρουμε μια πρώτη γεύση από το επερχόμενο άλμπουμ μας «We Are The Apocalypse» με το κομμάτι «Let The Devil In». Μπορεί να είναι ένα ελαφρώς διαφορετικό τραγούδι από εμάς, αλλά εξακολουθεί να κρατά το αληθινό σκοτάδι και το πνεύμα που είναι οι Dark Funeral. Ήταν προφανές σε όλους μας ότι αυτό θα ήταν το τραγούδι με το οποίο βάλαμε τον πήχη και θα έκανε πρεμιέρα πρώτο. Το τραγούδι συνοδεύεται και από ένα βίντεο, το οποίο ηχογραφήσαμε στο Βρότσλαβ της Πολωνίας μαζί με την Grupa13. Ήταν πραγματικά μεγάλη χαρά να δουλέψω με μια τόσο επαγγελματική ομάδα. Το αποτέλεσμα είναι εξαιρετικό και ταιριάζει πολύ σε αυτή την εντελώς σκοτεινή ιστορία που είναι το «Let The Devil In»».

Και προσθέτει περαιτέρω, «Για μένα, το “Let The Devil In” έρχεται ως απόδειξη των σπουδαίων πράξεων που μπορείτε να επιτύχετε όταν στραφείτε στο πιο εσώτερο σκοτάδι σας και σε αρμονία γίνετε ένα με τον εσωτερικό σας διάβολο. ΑΠΟΛΑΥΣΤΕ το σκοτάδι!»

Swedish black metal pioneers DARK FUNERAL present the first single and video “Let The Devil In”, taken off their upcoming full-length album “We Are The Apocalypse”, which will be released on March 18th, 2022 via Century Media Records.

The unforgiving darkness of this brand-new track perfectly fits the gory and sinister atmosphere of the video – filmed, directed and edited by Grupa13 – giving a good foretaste of what you can expect from “We Are The Apocalypse”.

Guitarist and band founder Lord Ahriman states, “It is with great pleasure that we can hereby offer you a first taste of our upcoming album ‘We Are The Apocalypse’ with the track ‘Let The Devil In’. It may be a slightly different song from us, but it still holds the true darkness and spirit that is Dark Funeral. It was obvious to all of us that this would be the song that we set the bar with and premiere first. The song also comes with a video, which we recorded in Wroclaw, Poland together with Grupa13. It really was a great pleasure to work with such a professional team. The result is outstanding and fits this completely dark story that is ‘Let The Devil In’ very well.”

Οι Φινλανδοί πρωτοπόροι του μελωδικού death metal INSOMNIUM παρουσιάζουν το νέο τους single “ The Wanderer ” που συνοδεύει την κυκλοφορία του EP “Argent Moon» μέσω της Century Media Records.

Ο frontman Niilo Sevänen δηλώνει σχετικά με το πώς δημιουργήθηκε το EP του “Argent Moon”:

“Όταν ξέσπασε η πανδημία της Corona μας ανάγκασε να ακυρώσουμε όλες τις περιοδείες μας και τις συναυλίες, σύντομα μπήκαμε στην ιδέα ότι καλύτερα να κάνουμε κάτι και να διατηρηθούμε ενεργοί. Θέλαμε να δοκιμάσουμε πώς λειτουργούν τα streaming events. Θέλαμε να δούμε τι είδους νέα μουσική μπορεί να αναπτυχθεί στο σκοτάδι και τη δυστυχία της καραντίνας. Και σύντομα αυτά τα vibes διοχετεύτηκαν σε τραγούδια που έγιναν το EP του “Argent Moon”.

Θέλαμε να δοκιμάσουμε κάτι λίγο διαφορετικό, έτσι και τα τέσσερα τραγούδια αυτής της κυκλοφορίας αντιπροσωπεύουν την πιο soft πλευρά των Insomnium. Μπαλάντες και απαλές μελωδίες. INSOMNIUM releases single and video for “The Wanderer” along with the release of “Argent Moon” EP

Finnish melodic death metal pioneers INSOMNIUM present the video “The Wanderer”  for the release of “Argent Moon” EP, on Century Media Records.

Frontman Niilo Sevänen about how the “Argent Moon” EP came to be:
“When the Corona outbreak forced us to cancel all the tours and shows, we pretty soon adopted a mindset that we better do something and keep ourselves in motion. We wanted to try how the streaming shows might work. We wanted to see what kind of new music might grow in the darkness and misery of the quarantine. And soon these vibes were channeled into songs that came to be the “Argent Moon” EP.

We wanted to try something a bit different so all the four songs on this release represent the softer side of Insomnium. The ballads and the mellow tunes. Acoustic guitars and clean vocals. The sorrow and agony that creeps into your heart when the nights grow longer. But fear not, we haven’t changed our style. Next album will be something different again. We used all the ballad ideas here so maybe it will be pure blast beats. We shall see.

ABORTED unleash first single & video “Impetus Odi” from new album “ManiaCult“

The time has finally come folks! Legendary Death Metal maniacs ABORTED, under the charismatic leadership of Sven Caluwe have returned to take over the earth with their highly anticipated 11th studio album called “ManiaCult”.

In cooperation with G13 Production House (Behemoth, Accept, Kreator) the band presents their most terrifying and disturbing video so far for their first single “Impetus Odi”.

Swedish melodic death metal pioneers AT THE GATES are now launching the first single off their upcoming album “The Nightmare Of Being” (Out July 2nd, 2021 via Century Media Records) to enhance today’s album pre-order start.

Tomas Lindberg Redant commented about “Spectre of Extinction”, a track which features a guest lead-guitar appearance by King Diamond guitarist Andy La Rocque, and its video clip, which was directed by Patric Ullaeus / www.rEvolver.se (Arch Enemy, In Flames, Dimmu Borgir, etc.), as follows: 

“It is always very hard to choose which song to release to the public first, especially with this album having so many layers and textures. We did feel, however, that this, the opening track of the record, represented the overall feel of the album. It has the musical depths that you would expect from an AT THE GATES track, and still carries that intensity and urgency that we have always tried to get across with our music. 

For the video, it was wonderful to be able to continue the work with the mighty Patric Ullaeus, as he understands our vision with the music and is willing to go all the way to portray the song’s inner dimensions. I think he did that excellently with this one and I’m very proud of the result. The lyrics deal with humanity’s will and how that clashes with our consciousness, and our knowledge of our mortality. Enjoy!”

Οι ηχογραφήσεις του “The Nightmare Of Being” έγιναν σε διάφορα studios της Σουηδίας – Drums στα Studio Gröndal με τον Jens Bogren, κιθάρες και μπάσο με τον Andy La Rocque στα Sonic Train Studio και τα φωνητικά στα Welfare Sounds με τον Per Stålberg. Swedish melodic death metal pioneers AT THE GATES have recently completed the recordings and preparations for their upcoming new studio album and can now reveal that it will be entitled “The Nightmare Of Being” and that it will be released on July 2nd, 2021 via Century Media Records.

While main parts for “The Nightmare Of Being” were recorded in several different Swedish studios – Drums at Studio Gröndal with Jens Bogren, guitars and bass with Andy La Rocque at Sonic Train Studio and vocals at Welfare Sounds with Per Stålberg –, the album was mixed and mastered at Fascination Street Studios (Amon Amarth, Opeth, Kreator, etc.) by Jens Bogren, who has previously worked with AT THE GATES on their “At War With Reality” comeback album in 2014. The album’s visual concept (The frontcover is to be seen above!) was developed by artist Eva Nahon.

AT THE GATES vocalist Tomas Lindberg Redant checked in with the following comment about the album’s concept: “The overall theme deals with the topic of pessimism, and I have been diving deep down in pessimistic philosophers. Trying to understand this way of looking at the world. It is not a negative album, more a gateway into new ideas for me personally, trying out different perspectives. You could call the album an introduction to pessimism as a concept, I guess. It is a very dark album, but not negative…”

And musically, while “The Nightmare Of Being” unveils a newly liberated and adventurous AT THE GATES via some of the bravest and most mesmerising material they have ever written, Lindberg Redant adds: “It still sounds like AT THE GATES, 100 percent. It is just more of everything….”

Όπως ανέφερε ο αγαπημένος τραγουδιστής σύμφωνα με το ιδανικό πρόγραμμα που έχει στο μυαλό του οι BLIND GUARDIAN θα έχουν ολοκληρώσει το επόμενο άλμπουμ τους το Σεπτέμβρη , το πολύ τον Οκτώβρη του 2020 το αργότερο. Ο τραγουδιστής τωνLACUNA COIL Andrea Ferro μίλησε στο Φιλανδικό Kaaos TV για την πιο πρόσφατη κυκλοφορία του συγκροτήματος, “Black Anima”. Το άλμπουμ κυκλοφορήσε 11 Οκτώβρη από την Century Media Records. Στην ερώτηση σχετικά με τα τραγούδια και το πως τα υποδέχθηκαν οι οπαδοί ο Andrea είπε: “Πάνε πολύ καλά. Είναι ένα άλμπουμ που υποδέχθηκαν πολύ καλά τόσο οι παλιοί οπαδοί της μπάντας όσο και οι νεότεροι. Νομίζω οτι είναι ένας δίσκος που περιλαμβάνει κάτι από όλα τα «χρώματα» της μπάντας, όλο της το μουσικό εύρος. Θα έλεγα οτι ειδικά κάποια τραγούδι είναι περισσότερο στον αρχικό ήχο της μπάντας στην gothic πλευρά μας. Κάποια άλλα είναι πιο groovy, μοντέρνα τραγούια. Οπότε είχαν ευρεία αποδοχή τόσο στην Ευρώπη όσο και στην Αμερική.”

Το τραγούδι προέρχεται από το άλμπουμ τους “Extinction(s)”, που κυκλοφόρησε το Νοέμβρη του 2018. Για την έβδομη κυκλοφορία της μπάντας, πρώτη στη Century Media, η μπάντα εργάστηκε με τον  Will Putney (EVERY TIME I DIE, BODY COUNT, GOJIRA, THY ART IS MURDER, SILENT PLANET) στα Graphic Nature Studios. Επιπλέον ο drummer των KILLSWITCH ENGAGE Adam Dutkiewicz ήταν αυτός που ηχογράφησε σε αυτό το άλμπουμ.
