Το metalcore συγκρότημα από το Brighton με το 9^ο ολοκληρωμένο άλμπουμ του έκλεισε την εβδομάδα με μόλις 550 θέσεις μπροστά από το δεύτερο άλμπουμ σε πωλήσεις που δεν ήταν άλλο από το Nature Always Wins των Maximo Park. Για τους Architects, είναι η πρώτη φορά που ανεβαίνουν στην κορυφή των πωλήσεων, αλλά και η πρώτη φορά που μπαίνουν στην πρώτη δεκάδα, ενώ η προηγούμενη θέση τους ήταν το Νο15 το 2016 με το All Our Gods Have Abandoned Us. Δείτε όλες τις προηγούμενες θέσεις τους ΕΔΩ.

Γιορτάζοντας τα νέα και τιμώντας το πρώην μέλος τους Tom Searle, ο τραγουδιστής Sam Carter μίλησε στο OfficialCharts.com, “Δεν μπορώ να βρω τα λόγια για να εκφράσω τι σημαίνει αυτό για εμάς. Αrchitects claim their first Number 1 on the Official Albums Chart following an exceptionally close race for this week’s top spot which sees an all-new Top 5.

The Brighton metalcore band’s ninth album For Those That Wish To Exist finishes the week just 550 chart sales ahead of their closest competition, Maximo Park and their new record Nature Always Wins (2).

For Architects, it’s not only their first chart-topper, but first Top 10 album too; their previous peak was Number 15 with 2016’s All Our Gods Have Abandoned Us. View Architects’ Official Chart history here.

Celebrating the news, and paying tribute to their late bandmate Tom Searle, singer Sam Carter told OfficialCharts.com, “I cannot begin to tell you how much this means to us. Thank you to every single person who bought this record. We love you so much and we could not have done this without you. To have an album that connects this much, with what we’re talking about – trying and pushing for a better world – it’s unbelievable. As ever, everything we do is for Tom Searle, our brother.”

Φρέσκοι, σύγχρονοι, μελαγχολικοί, μελωδικοί, με έντονα ξεσπάσματα, ανοιχτοί σε ακούσματα και επιρροές ενσωματώνουν όλα τα ερεθίσματα γύρω τους και τα μετουσιώνουν μέσα από τη μουσική τους. Με θέματα στους στίχους τους που δείχνουν ότι έχουν το αυτί τους στον παλμό της σύγχρονης κοινωνίας και τολμηρές επιλογές στα ευρήματα που χρησιμοποιούν σε κάθε τραγούδι, δείχνουν ότι όχι απλά έχουν τη διάθεση, αλλά και τον τρόπο να οδηγούν την σκηνή τους στην επόμενη φάση της.

Στο For Those That Wish To Exist, που κυκλοφορεί 26 Φεβρουαρίου από την Epitaph, ίσως να έχουν ένα ηπιότερο ήχο με λιγότερα ακραία ξεσπάσματα ωστόσο μας παρέδωσαν μια κυκλοφορία που ακούγεται από την αρχή μέχρι το τέλος. Δεν θεωρώ σε καμία περίπτωση ότι μαλάκωσε ο ήχος τους (βλέπε Impermanence, Libertine, Animals, Black Lungs, Goliath) και μάλιστα όταν μέσα σε σύνολο 15 τραγουδιών δεν ξέρεις ποιο να πρωτοδιαλέξεις φυσικά και πρόκειται για μια κυκλοφορία που αξίζει την επένδυση.  Ο ακροβατισμός μεταξύ καθαρών και ακραίων φωνητικών τους κάνει απίστευτα γοητευτικούς στο αυτί και αυτό το παιχνίδι μεταξύ μελωδίας και ξεσπάσματος ιδανικούς πρεσβευτές του metalcore.

Σε αυτό το άλμπουμ ξεχωρίζουν οι συμμετοχές του Winston McCall των Parkway Drive στο Impermanence, του Mike Kerr των Royal Blood στο Little Wonder καθώς και του Simon Neil των Biffy Clyro στο Goliath. Ιδιαίτερη μνεία θα κάνω όμως και στα Giving Blood που με κέρδισε με την πρώτη νότα, το An Ordinary Extinction , το Meteor αλλά και το ηλεκτρονικό σχεδόν Little Wonder.

Μην παρασυρθείς από αυτούς που λένε ότι χαλάρωσαν οι Architects, εμπιστεύσου τα αυτιά σου, ευχαρίστησέ με αργότερα …

Ever since I listened to Architects for the first time one thing started flashing in my mind like a huge neon sign. “This Is Today’s Sound”. As time and releases passed, not only did they support my first impression but also, they’ve enforced it.

Fresh, current, melancholic, melodic, fierce, open to new ideas and influences, ready to comprehend the new stimulants they come across and transform them into brilliant music. Inspired and writing lyrics that clearly reflect they keep their ears close to the pulse of modern society and by taking chances with bold choices on the elements they incorporate in every song, they show they’re not only willing, but also capable of leading their genre to the next era.

In For Those That Wish To Exist, out February 26^th on Epitaph records, they might choose to have more smooth parts but that doesn’t stop them from delivering a release that is savored beginning to end. In no way do I support those who clay they’ve gone soft ( listen Impermanence, Libertine, Animals, Black Lungs, Goliath) and to be quite frank, when you can’t choose from a tracklist of 15 songs which one is best, then we’re definitely talking about a great release. The lingering between clean and brutal vocals makes them extremely enchanting and the game of hide and seek between melodies and blast beats make them the ideal ambassadors of metalcore.

In this album we can listen to three great guest appearances by Winston McCall of Parkway Drive in Impermanence, Mike Kerr of Royal Blood in Little Wonder and Simon Neil of Biffy Clyro in Goliath. I have to make a special reference to the songs Giving Blood which triggered me the minute it hit the first note, An Ordinary Extinction , and Meteor but also the highly electronic sounding Little Wonder.

Don’t get carried away by those claiming Architects have lost their punch and trust your ears, thank me later…

Με νέα ιστοσελίδα και μια φωτογραφία οι βρετανοί Architects ανακοίνωσαν ότι το νέο τους άλμπουμ με τον τίτλο For Those That Wish To Exist θα κυκλοφορήσει 26 Φεβρουαρίου 2021.

Θυμίζουμε ότι εχθές βγήκε στη δημοσιότητα το Animals. Σε στίχους του Dan Searle και παραγωγή των Dan Searle, Josh Middleton και του Pete Miles. Τη μίξη έχει κάνει ο Zakk Cervini ενώ τα τύμπανα ηχογράφησε ο Adam ‘Nolly’ Getgood στα Middle Farm Studios.
