Πολλές οι φωνές, πολλές οι γνώμες, ακόμα παραπάνω οι τρομερές δηλώσεις μεγαλείου και δεύτερων κορυφών από την εποχή του Painkiller μέχρι σήμερα. Αδιαπραγμάτευτα, το Invincible Shield είναι ένα πολύ υψηλού επιπέδου album, τόσο ποιοτικά όσο και πιθανόν ιστορικά. Αλλά ας κάνουμε ένα βήμα πίσω, και μετά από αρκετές ακροάσεις και έχοντας αφήσει πίσω μας τον αρχικό ενθουσιασμό της πρώτης επαφής, ας του δώσουμε την θέση που πραγματικά του αξίζει. Ναι είναι μεγαθύριο, είχε την ατυχία να ακολουθήσει το εξωπραγματικό Firepower και αυτό από μόνο του, του στερεί λίγο από την αίγλη του. Νομίζω πως ο πιο σωστός τρόπος να το περιγράψω είναι πως αποτελεί την φυσική εξέλιξη και συνέχεια του αγαπημένου μου Redeemer Of Souls, με μερικές μικρές διαφορές. Αρχικά, ενώ έχει και αυτό έναν αέρα από σχεδόν όλη την πορεία της μπάντας από τα 80s’ και μετά, το Devil In Disguise μας κλείνει το μάτι, με μεγαλύτερη έμφαση στην μετά 86 περίοδο, δεν χαίρει της ίδιας ηχητικής ποικιλομορφίας με το Redeemer Of Souls. Ισορροπεί όμως αυτό το κενό με μια αρκετά προς το Painkiller δομή και γενικότερη λογική, δομικά πάντα. 

Πολύ δυνατές συνθέσεις όλες τους, up tempo album από την αρχή μέχρι το τέλος. Από το πρώτο κομμάτι σε βουτάει από σβέρκο που λένε και σου δίνει πλήρη διαπιστευτήρια στο γιατί οι JUDAS PRIEST ήταν και παραμένουν κορυφή σε αυτό που κάνουν. Συνθετικά, νομίζω πως αυτή η κυκλοφορία αποτελεί το magnum opus της καριέρας του Faulkner, που ξεκάθαρα έχει πάρει τα πάντα στους ώμους του και τους πηγαίνει ακόμα παραπέρα. Όλα είναι γνώριμα και παλιά και ταυτόχρονα καινούργια, κάτι που γίνεται με τόσο ομογενοποιημένο τρόπο πλέον στην τρίτη του δισκογραφική δουλειά με το συγκρότημα, που απλά το αισθάνεσαι εντελώς φυσικό. Δεν μπορώ να μπω στην διαδικασία να εξετάσω και αν μιλήσω για τα κομμάτια και τα riff γιατί θα χρειαστώ μία σελίδα για κάθε ένα από τα 14 κομμάτια της deluxe edition. Ναι πραγματικά, ο δίσκος χρήζει ακροάσεων γιατί περιέχει πράγματα και μελωδίες που με κάθε άκουσμα μεγαλώνουν μέσα σου, και κάθε φορά αντιλαμβάνεσαι και κάτι καινούργιο. Είναι τόσο καλά τα κομμάτια, απλά δεν είναι πάντα αυτό που λέμε “άμεσα”, στα “σκάνε” ύπουλα και με μικρή καθυστέρηση. Ο δε Halford είναι τουλάχιστον συγκινητικός, και η δύναμη και το εκτόπισμα που κρύβουν οι μεσαίες του περιοχές συχνοτικά είναι απολαυστικές και ίσως πιο εθιστικές θα τολμήσω να πω από τις ψηλές του, ακόμα και των χρόνων της ακμής του. Και οι γραμμές, στις γέφυρες, ρε φίλε…

Πέρα από τα single που όλοι μας ακούσαμε λίγο πολύ, το ομοτιτλο Invincible Shield, Gates Of Hell, As God Is My Witness (Leather Rebel 2.0), Escape From Reality (σοβαρά τώρα;), Sons Of Thunder και το κομμάτι που με “ψάρωσε” άπειρα The Lodger (ολίγον από Nostradamus vibes εδώ ή είναι απλά ιδέα μου;)αποτελούν περίλαμπρες συνθέσεις άξιες τόσο του ονόματος του συγκροτήματος όσο και μιας πορείας 50 χρόνων. Είναι τελικά το Invincible Shield το καλύτερο JUDAS PRIEST album από το 90 μέχρι σήμερα; Όχι, ούτε καλύτερο του Firepower κατά την γνώμη μου, του λείπει αυτό το εκτώπισμα, αλλά αποτελεί κατεμέ ισάξιο στολίδι με το Redeemer Of Souls και από τις καλύτερες δουλειές από το reunion και έπειτα, αφήνοντας πολύ πίσω του το Angel Of Retribution. Το σημαντικότερο; Αν αυτό αποτελέσει και το κύκνειο άσμα τους, περίτρανο και αξιοζήλευτο κλείσιμο καριέρας που μόνο με τους SAXON μπορώ να συγκρίνω. Και μιας που το ανέφερα, ναι είναι καλύτερο από το τελευταίο SAXON. Να τους αγαπάτε τους παππούδες του heavy metal, μέχρι τα βαθιά τους γεράματα ακόμα μας μαθαίνουν πράγματα και μας δείχνουν τον δρόμο. Πάλι τα ζουμιά θα με πάρουν ρε διάολε το καλοκαίρι…

This review fell into my hands, as I think I’m the most if not the only Priest-head of the bunch, and if only you knew how much I was looking forward to this album. I don’t have all the pages in the world to write about their career and their huge legacy in heavy metal and something tells me that it’s not going to be too long until I  write something like that, but for now let’s focus on their latest (probably their last) album, Invincible Shield.

There are many voices, many opinions, even more big statements of greatness and second peaks from the Painkiller era until today. Undeniably, Invincible Shield is a very high level album, both qualitatively and possibly historically. But let’s take a step back, and after several listens and having put the initial excitement of the first listening session behind us, let’s give it the place it truly deserves. Yes he is a mega-house, he had the misfortune to follow the unreal Firepower and that in itself takes away some of his glamour. I think the most accurate way to describe it is that it is the natural progression and continuation of my favourite Redeemer Of Souls, with a few minor differences. First of all, while it too has an air of almost the entire band’s career from the 80s onwards, Devil In Disguise gives us a wink, with more emphasis on the post 86 period, it doesn’t enjoy the same sonic diversity as Redeemer Of Souls. But it balances this gap with a fairly Painkiller-like structure and general logic, structurally. 

Very strong compositions, all of them, an up tempo album from the beginning to the end. From the first track it grabs you by the neck, as they say ,and gives you full credentials on why JUDAS PRIEST were and remain top at what they do. Compositionally, I think this release is the magnum opus of Faulkner’s career, he has clearly taken everything on his shoulders and is taking them even further. Everything is familiar and old and new at the same time, which is done in such a homogenized way now on his third record with the band that it just feels completely natural. I can’t go into the process of examining and talking about the tracks and riffs because I would need a page for each of the 14 tracks of the deluxe edition. Yes really, the album deserves some listening because it contains things and melodies that grow inside you with every new listen, and every time you realize something new. The tracks are that good, they just aren’t always what we call “instant”, they sneak up on you sneakily and with a short of delay. And Halford is moving to say the least, and the power and expansiveness of his mid-range frequencies is enjoyable and perhaps more addictive I dare say than his highs, even of his prime days. And the lines, on the bridges, oh man…

Apart from the singles that we all listened to more or less, the self-titled Invincible Shield, Gates Of Hell, As God Is My Witness (Leather Rebel 2.0), Escape From Reality (seriously?)Sons Of Thunder and the track that left me for fool The Lodger (some Nostradamus vibes here or is it just me?) are brilliant compositions worthy of both the band’s name and a 50 years long career. Is finally Invincible Shield the best JUDAS PRIEST album from the 90’s until today? No, not even better than Firepower in my opinion, it lacks that mass and greatness, but it is a gem equal to Redeemer Of Souls and one of the best works since the reunion, leaving Angel Of Retribution far behind. The most important thing? If this is their swan song, then it is an outstanding and enviable career finale that I can only compare to SAXON. Speaking of which, yes it is better than the last SAXON album. We have to love the grandfathers of heavy metal, until their old age they still teach us things and show us the way. I’m going to get rainy day eyes yet again damn it, in the summer festivals…

Το 19ο στούντιο άλμπουμ των Judas Priest ‘Invincible Shield’ κυκλοφορεί την Παρασκευή 8 Μαρτίου 2024. Οι Βρετανοί θρύλοι του metal ανακοίνωσαν το άλμπουμ κατά τη διάρκεια της εμφάνισής τους στο φεστιβάλ Power Trip στην Καλιφόρνια την Παρασκευή 6 Οκτωβρίου. Παράλληλα με την κυκλοφορία του ‘Invincible Shield’, οι Judas Priest θα πραγματοποιήσουν μια περιοδεία έξι ημερών σε αρένα στο Ηνωμένο Βασίλειο και την Ιρλανδία τον Μάρτιο με πολύ ιδιαίτερους καλεσμένους τους Saxon και τους Uriah Heep.

Judas Priest have premiered the third taster of their 19th studio album ‘Invincible Shield’ ‘Crown of Horns.’ Judas Priest’s 19th studio album ‘Invincible Shield’ is released on Friday 8th March 2024. The British metal legends announced the album during their performance at Power Trip festival in California on Friday 6th October.

Coinciding with the release of ‘Invincible Shield’, Judas Priest play a six-date UK & Ireland arena tour in March with very special guests Saxon and Uriah Heep.

Ο διάδοχος του εξαιρετικού και ιδιαίτερα επιτυχημένου Firepower, θα ονομάζεται Invincible Shield και αναμένεται να κυκλοφορήσει στις 8 Μαρτίου. Η ανακοίνωση έγινε αρχικά από την ίδια την μπάντα στην εμφάνιση της στο Power Trip Festival και στην συνέχεια, έγινε και επίσημα μέσω της σελίδας του συγκροτήματος.

Προς το παρόν δεν γνωρίζουμε περισσότερα ως προς τον αριθμό των κομματιών που θα περιλαμβάνει, αλλά με το πρώτο single να είναι ήδη καθ οδόν, αυτό μάλλον πρόκειται να αλλάξει πολύ σύντομα.

Heavy metal fathers JUDAS PRIEST seem to have no intention to stop, at list not soon. We’ve known for a long time that they are preparing their new, 19th studio album, but their passion and dedication never ceases to amaze us, despite the issues, mostly health related, they have been facing in their ranks in recent years.

The follow-up to the excellent and highly successful Firepower will be called Invincible Shield and is due out on March 8. The announcement was first made by the band themselves at their Power Trip Festival appearance and then made official via the band’s website.

At the moment no more is known as to the number of tracks that will be included, but with the first single already on the way, that is likely to change very soon.

Το Avaton είναι η πρώτη φορά που ακούμε αυτή την σύνθεση του συγκροτήματος σε συνθήκες studio. Φυσικά κάποια από τα παιδιά είναι στις τάξεις των DIVINER αμέσως μετά την κυκλοφορία του Realms Of Time, μόνο καινούργιους δεν τους λες δηλαδή, αλλά ως προς το συνθετικό μέρος της υπόθεσης, αυτή είναι η πρώτη τους αποτύπωση. Κατά τα λεγόμενα του ιδίου του συγκροτήματος, η νέα τους δουλειά είναι και η καλύτερη. Χαίρομαι όταν πραγματικά πιστεύει μια μπάντα τόσο την κάθε της δουλειά και ως ένα σημείο το καταλαβαίνω στο πετσί μου, πάμε να δούμε όμως κατά πόσο, μέσα από τα δικά μου αυτιά πάντα, ισχύει κάτι τέτοιο.

Πολύ όμορφη η instrumental εισαγωγή που φέρει και τον τίτλο του δίσκου, όχι κάτι που περίμενα για να είμαι ειλικρινής, αλλά πάρα ταύτα με εξέπληξε ευχάριστα. Τα επόμενα 2 κομμάτια που ακολουθούν μας βάζουν για τα καλά στο γνωστό ηχητικό μοτίβο του συγκροτήματος, με χαρακτηριστικά κιθαριστικά riff που θα μπορούσαν κάλλιστα να κοσμούν κάποια από τις συνθέσεις των προηγούμενων δίσκων. Οι πρώτες πινελιές με “αέρα αλλαγής” έρχονται στο συμπαθητικό Cyberwar το οποίο groove-αρει έντονα. Συνέχεια με το Waste No Time, μια από τις πιο πιασάρικες στιγμές του δίσκου, δεν είναι τυχαίο το ότι επιλέχθηκε σαν πρώτο single. Μελωδικότατο, με άκρως ευκολομνημόνευτο refren, μεγάλο ατού για live συνθήκες, αλλά και μια αίσθηση περισσότερης οικειότητας από όσο θα προτιμούσα. Επιστροφή σε κλασικές DIVINER φόρμες αλλά και με μια δόση ανανέωσης το Nemecic, το κλείσιμο του οποίου το ακούω από τώρα με κάμποσες φωνές κάτω από την σκηνή.

Τα ουσιαστικά highlight του Avaton  είναι στο καθαρά mid tempo με επική διάθεση Hall Of The Brave. Μια σύνθεση που αναπτύσσεται καθ όλη την διάρκεια των 8 λεπτών της, με ένα ιδιαίτερα ατμοσφαιρικό “άδειασμα” στην μέση. Το ξεκίνημα του Battle Of Marathon σε “τσιμπάει” αμέσως. Αφηγηματικό τόσο στο ακουστικό του ξεκίνημα όσο και στην συνέχεια του. Οι φωνητικές του γραμμές είναι αυτές που σε κερδίζουν νομίζω. Ακόμα ένα κομμάτι με ωραία ακουστική πτώση στα μισά της διάρκειας του, με το λαούτο/μαντολίνο να δημιουργεί ανατριχίλα. Όμορφη αλλά και ολίγον προβλέψιμη η “αρχαίο”ελληνική χορωδία που ακολουθεί. Το Dead New World που κλείνει και τον δίσκο (αποτελεί bonus track της έκδοσης σε cd) είναι ίσως και το πιο διαφορετικό κομμάτι από όλα. Αρκετά πιο κοντά στο σήμερα, πιθανόν να αποτελεί και δείγμα μελλοντικής κατεύθυνσης ως προς το συνθετικό μέρος. Ενδιαφέρον θα το χαρακτηρίσω.

Συνολικά το Avaton είναι ένας πολύ καλός δίσκος. Δεν του λείπει απολύτως τίποτα και στέκεται δυνατά στο στυλ που εκπροσωπεί. Ο ηχητικός χαρακτήρας του Φλούρου δίνει αέρα σε ότι και αν κάνει (βλέπε και την τελευταία δουλειά των AMONGRUINS) και κάθεται πολύ καλά με το παίξιμο του Teo Ross. Αλλά, υπάρχει ένα αλλά, τουλάχιστον για εμένα. Ενώ όλα τα κομμάτια είναι καλά, το συνολικό του αποτέλεσμα και αποτύπωμα νομίζω πως υστερεί συγκριτικά με το παρελθόν. Αποτελείται από πολλά αρκετά άνω του μετρίου κομμάτια, με τα εξαιρετικά όμως να είναι λιγότερα σε σχέση με το παρελθόν. Υπάρχουν πολύ ενδιαφέροντα νέα πράγματα μέσα στις συνθέσεις, που νομίζω όμως πως πρέπει να βρουν τον χώρο τους και να βγουν ακόμα πιο μπροστά στο μέλλον. Έχοντας πει αυτό, φυσικά και το Avaton είναι εξαιρετική δουλειά. Απλά για εμένα, τρίτο στην σειρά, όπως και η κυκλοφορία του.

I was invited to write about DIVINER and their new album, Avaton , on one hand because their sound is probably closer to me and on the other hand because my friction and contact with the band’s career is more than close. So, as an exception, once again, I will give my thoughts on the third discographic child of Yannis Papanikolaou and company.

Avaton is the first time we have heard this line-up of the band in studio conditions. Of course some of the guys are in the ranks of DIVINER right after the release of Realms Of Time, so you can’t call them quite new, but as far as the compositional part of it, this is their first recording attempt with the band. In the words of the band themselves, their new work is also their best so far. I’m glad when a band really believes so much in each of their works and to a certain extent I can understand it in my own skin, but let’s see if, through my ears always, this is true.

Very nice instrumental intro, that bears the title of the album, not something I expected to be honest, but it surprised me pleasantly nonetheless. The next 2 tracks that follow put us well into the familiar sound pattern of the band, with characteristic guitar riffs that could very well adorn some of the compositions of the previous albums. The first touches of “change” come on the nice Cyberwar which has a groove driven feel. It continues with Waste No Time, one of the catchiest moments on the album, it’s no coincidence that it was chosen as the first single. Melodic, with a highly memorable refrain, a great asset for live conditions, but also a sense of more intimacy than I would prefer. Back to classic DIVINER forms but also with a touch of renewal is Nemecic, the ending part of which I can already hear with a bunch of crowd voices under the stage.

The essential highlights of Avaton are in the pure mid tempo with an epic mood Hall Of The Brave, a composition that develops throughout its 8 minutes, with a particularly atmospheric “break” in the middle. The beginning of Battle Of Marathon immediately “grabs” you. Narrative in both its acoustic opening and its continuation. It’s his vocal lines that wins you over I think. Another track with a nice acoustic break halfway through its duration, with the lute/mandolin creating chills. Beautiful the Greek choir that follows but also a little predictable. Dead New World, which also closes the album (a bonus track on the CD version) is perhaps the most different track of all. Quite a bit closer to the present, it is probably a sign of future direction in terms of the compositional part. I would describe it as interesting.

Overall Avaton is a very good album. It lacks absolutely nothing and stands strong in the style it represents. Flouros’ sound and character gives an air to everything he does (listen to AMONGRUINS’ latest work) and sits very well with Teo Ross‘ playing. But, there is a but, at least for me. While all the tracks are good, I think the overall feel and imprint lags compared to the past. It consists of many quite above average, really good tracks, with the excellent and great ones being fewer in comparison to the past. There are some very interesting new things within the compositions, but I think they need to find their place and get even more space in the future. Having said that, of course Avaton is another excellent work. Just for me, third in line, as is its release.

Γνώριμα πρόσωπα αλλά και καλοί φίλοι άρχισαν να καταφθάνουν λίγο αργότερα και κατόπιν παρότρυνσης του Νίκου συγκεντρωθήκαμε στην αίθουσα την οποία είχαν πολύ ωραία προετοιμάσει για να ξεκινήσουμε την ακρόαση. Πολύ σωστή και επαγγελματική η σκέψη της μπάντας να μας μοιράσει μία ολιγοσέλιδη παρουσίαση με τις απαραίτητες λεπτομέρειες της νέας της δουλειάς καθώς και χώρο κάτω από το κάθε κομμάτι για πιθανές σκέψεις και σημειώσεις. Σίγουρα έκανε την δική μου “δουλειά” αρκετά ευκολότερη και βολική. Ας περάσουμε όμως στην ουσία.

Το Nuances Of Life βρίσκει τους The Silent Rage ανανεωμένους από κάθε άποψη, σε σχέση βέβαια με την πρώτη της δισκογραφική δουλειά. Ο δίσκος, που περιλαμβάνει 13 κομμάτια, δεν αφήνει χώρο για συστάσεις καθώς δείχνει εξ αρχής τις δυναμικές του διαθέσεις. Το εναρκτήριο The Serpent Lord, γνώριμο στα αυτιά μας από την παρουσία του στις καλοκαιρινές εμφανίσεις της μπάντας, ακολουθούμενο από το Code Of Destruction μας έβαλαν για τα καλά στο κλίμα και την γενική κατεύθυνση του δίσκου. Δύο κομμάτια αργότερα, η πρώτη έκπληξη και πρώτος guest του δίσκου ακούει στο όνομα Stu Block ο οποίος ενώνει την φωνή του μαζί με τον Μιχάλη Ρινακάκη στο Another Fallen Dreamland. Ταιριαστό κομμάτι για τα πιο πρόσφατα μονοπάτια που είχαμε συνηθίσει τον Stu Block, επιθετικό και γρήγορο με το απαραίτητο επικό chorus. Καλεσμένων συνέχεια, με το Scarlet Dawn και τον εγχώριο πλέον κάτοικο, Harry “Tyrant” Conklin σε πιο ρυθμικά μονοπάτια και μεσαίες ταχύτητες, έχει και μια κάποια ηλικία πλέον ο γερόλυκος.

Θα σταθώ λίγο στο Exhaling Fear που ακολούθησε λίγο αργότερα και αυτό γιατί με κέρδισε από την πρώτη στιγμή. Ποικιλόμορφο θα το αποκαλούσα, περισσότερο από οποιοδήποτε άλλο μέχρι εκείνη την στιγμή, με αρκετά δυνατά και ξεχωριστά ανατολίτικα στοιχεία. Επίσης θα σταθώ για πολύ λίγο στο Ghost Of A Wayward Son καθαρά για να τονίσω το vibe του το οποίο φωνάζει lyric video. Τρίτος και τελευταίος καλεσμένος της μπάντας, ο Bob Katsionis στο Black Monday (July 23rd, 2018) το οποίο αναφέρεται στο τραγικό εκείνο πρωινό στο Μάτι Αττικής που στέρησε την ζωή σε 102 συνανθρώπους μας. Πολύ όμορφη σκέψη και κίνηση εκ μέρους των  The Silent Rage. Στα του κομματιού, η μοναδική ακουστική στιγμή του δίσκου, η μοναδική μπαλάντα, την οποία ο Bob στόλισε κατάλληλα. Οι 2 τελευταίες θέσεις του tracklist αποτελούνται από bonus tracks, ένα εκ τον οποίων είναι η re-master έκδοση του Harvester Of Souls, μέσα από το ομότιτλο demo τους. Μετά την ολοκλήρωση της ακρόασης και τα όποια σχόλια τόσο από την μπάντα όσο και από τους παρευρισκόμενους, παρακολουθήσαμε και το πρώτο video clip της μπάντας για το κομμάτι The Serpent Lord, την σκηνοθεσία του οποίου ανέλαβε ο Bob Katsionis (PVG).

Συνοψίζοντας λοιπόν όσο καλύτερα μπορώ, θα ακολουθήσει και η αντίστοιχη αναλυτική κριτική εν καιρώ, το Nuances Of Life αποτελεί κατ εμέ το ουσιαστικό ξεκίνημα των The Silent Rage οι οποίοι φαίνεται πλέον να ξέρουν ακριβώς τι πρέπει να κάνουν, πως να κινηθούν και πως να πάνε τα πάντα πολλά βήματα μπροστά. Οι ισορροπίες φαίνεται να έχουν βρεθεί, τόσο στο μουσικό κομμάτι όσο και μεταξύ των μελών. Καλά θα πάει αυτό.

Πέντε χρόνια μετά το εξαιρετικά επιτυχημένο άλμπουμ τους “Gods Of Violence” (2017), που έφτασε στο #1 των γερμανικών album charts, η μπάντα που καθορίζει το είδος είναι στην ευχάριστη θέση να παρουσιάσει αυτό το μεγαθήριο. The mighty KREATOR are proud to unveil “Strongest Of The Strong,” the second single from their forthcoming fifteenth studio album, “Hate Über Alles,” which will be released on June 10th, 2022. Five years after their highly acclaimed album “Gods Of Violence” (2017), peaking at #1 in the German album charts, the genre-defining band are happy to present this 11-track behemoth. 

The unrelenting mid-tempo sledgehammer “Strongest Of The Strong” definitely lives up to its name and quite fittingly features renowned strongman and vegan advocate Patrik Baboumian who adds thundering backing vocals to the song’s anthemic chorus.

Τον Οκτώβριο του περασμένου έτους ο ιθύνων νους των Firewind και το κιθαριστικό είδωλο, Gus G., κυκλοφόρησε το νέο του σόλο άλμα με τίτλο Quantum Leap μέσω της AFM Records. October last year seen Firewind mastermind and guitar icon, Gus G., release his critically acclaimed, new solo affair entitled Quantum Leap via AFM Records. Following an impressive music career of more than 20 years, nine record releases with Firewind, as well as recording and touring with acts such Mystic Prophecy, Nightrage, Arch Enemy, Dream Evil and Ozzy Osbourne, Quantum Leap is Gus G.‘s fourth, and entirely instrumental solo album, featuring 10 tracks that both showcase the distinctive playing style Gus is known for yet taking fans into new territory.

Quantum Leap came together over the course of the worldwide pandemic that, unfortunately, prevented Firewind’s self-titled album from 2020 from gaining any real momentum. Immobilized by the quarantine measures that kept him at home, Gus began compiling musical ideas to keep himself occupied, which led to the full-on effort to write and record an album during the summer of 2021 “I didn’t make Quantum Leap with the intention of it being the next one in the cycle of solo albums,” Gus admits. “It was more of a case of, ‘What else is there?’ I needed the creative outlet.”

Just a few months since the successful album release via AFM, today the guitarist has shared a brand new music video clip for the song ‘Night Driver’! Gus comments: “Night Driver is probably the most stylistically diverse song of Quantum Leap. I gave it a synth wave twist and it now has that 80s vhs movie vibe!”

After almost four years since the release of “The Grand Masquerade”, Forbidden Seed are ready to release their third album, “On Blackest Wings, Shadow of the Crow Pt.I”. Today the band also reveals the album cover, created once more by Jim Evenidis (Icon Filmworx). 

“On Blackest Wings, Shadow of the Crow Pt.I” is a concept album, largerly based on the 90s comic book and film “The Crow”, focusing more in the human side of the story. As the title suggests, the story will be concluded in a later release. The new album is devided in three acts, with each one serving a different part of the story, a different type of emotion, with 16 tracks in total.

Forbidden Seed’s singer/guitarist Constantin stated: ” Most people know “The Crow” by the 1994 film, when in fact the characters and the comic was created back in 1989, long before comics were cool. Its dark, way too gothic for the overall comics vibe of the time and incredibly artistic. It really suprises me that no one, as far as I know, haven’t made an album about it yet. It would be a lie if I told you that the movie and the comics didn’t have a huge impact on me when I was growing up, so this is my way to pay tribute to one of my favorite characters and stories”.    

Forbidden Seed’s new album, “On Blackest Wings, Shadow of the Crow Pt.I” will be released by Steel Gallery Records.

Greek heavy metallers Erase release second digital single entitled The Warning. It’s the second digital single featuring the band’s current line up after last year’s Children Of The Corn.

Οι ηχογραφήσεις των οργάνων πραγματοποιήθηκan από τους κιθαρίστες του σχήματος, Νίκο Σιγλίδη και Νίκο Σαρμπάνη, στα Nomad Studios, στην Αθήνα, ιδιοκτησίας του σχήματος ενώ τα φωνητικά ηχογραφήθηκαν από τον τραγουδιστή Μιχάλη Ρινακάκη στο Falkenberg της Σουηδίας.

Το re-amping, την μίξη και το mastering ανέλαβε ο Γιώργος Νεραντζής , ο οποίος στο παρελθόν έχει δουλέψει με σχήματα όπως οι Abbath, οι Pain Of Salvation και ο Gus G ανάμεσα σε άλλους.

Το εξώφυλλο της κυκλοφορίας έγινε από τον Ηρακλή Χωραίτη , με τον οποίο η μπάντα είχε συνεργαστεί στο πρώτο της EP, πίσω στο μακρινό 2009.

The Silent Rage present a new single entitled Harvester Of Souls. The recordings took place by the guitarists of the band, Nikos Siglidis and Nikos Sarbani, at Nomad Studios, in Athens, owned by the band, while the vocals were recorded by the singer Michalis Rinakakis in Falkenberg, Sweden.

Re-amping, mixing and mastering was undertaken by George Nerantzis (www.georgenerantzis.com), who has worked with bands such as Abbath, Pain Of Salvation and Gus G among others in the past.

The cover of the release was made by Iraklis Choraitis (https://hercdesign.gr/), with whom the band had collaborated in its first EP, back in the distant 2009.

„New Found Power“ – the title of their new single (and music video) perfectly describes the current spirit of Greek power metal masters FIREWIND. Όπως αναφέρει η μπάντα στην ιστοσελίδα της «Είμαστε στην ευχάριστη θέση να ανακοινώσουμε την κυκλοφορία του 17ου στούντιο άλμπουμ των IRON MAIDEN Senjutsu στις 3 Σεπτεμβρίου μέσω της Parlophone Records (BMG στις ΗΠΑ). Ηχογραφήθηκε στο Παρίσι με τον επι χρόνια παραγωγό Kevin Shirley και τη συμπαραγωγή από τον Steve Harris.

Υπάρχουν επίσης ένα ή δύο τραγούδια που ακούγονται πολύ διαφορετικά από το συνηθισμένο μας στυλ και νομίζω ότι οι θαυμαστές των Maiden θα εκπλαγούν – ελπίζω με καλό τρόπο! “

Iron Maiden have announced their new album. As they write on their webpage “We are thrilled to announce the release of IRON MAIDEN’s 17th studio album Senjutsu on September 3rd through Parlophone Records (BMG in the USA). It was recorded in Paris with longstanding producer Kevin Shirley and co-produced by Steve Harris.

For Senjutsu – loosely translated as ‘tactics & strategy’, the band once again enlisted the services of Mark Wilkinson to create the spectacular Samurai themed cover artwork, based on an idea by Steve Harris. And with a running time of a little under 82 minutes, Senjutsu, like their previous record The Book Of Souls, will be a double CD album/triple vinyl album.”

Steve says “We chose to record at Guillaume Tell Studio in France again as the place has such a relaxed vibe. The setup there is perfect for our needs; the building used to be a cinema and has a really high ceiling so there’s a great acoustic sound. We recorded this album in the same way we did The Book Of Souls in that we’d write a song, rehearse it and then put it down together straight away while it was all fresh in our minds. There’s some very complex songs on this album which took a lot of hard work to get them exactly as we wanted them to sound, so the process was at times very challenging, but Kevin is great at capturing the essence of the band and I think it was worth the effort! I’m very proud of the result and can’t wait for fans to hear it.”

Bruce Dickinson continues, “We’re all really excited about this album. We recorded it back in early 2019 during a break in the Legacy tour so we could maximize our touring yet still have a long set up period before release to prepare great album art and something special as a video. Of course the pandemic delayed things more – so much for the best laid plans – or should that be ‘strategies’!? The songs are very varied, and some of them are quite long. There’s also one or two songs which sound pretty different to our usual style, and I think Maiden fans will be surprised – in a good way, I hope!”
