Πριν λίγους μήνες ανακοίνωσαν όχι μόνο την μεταγραφή τους στην Theogonia Records αλλά και το πολυαναμενόμενο δεύτερο άλμπουμ τους με τίτλο This Future Wants Us Dead, το οποίο θα κυκλοφορήσει στις 25 Απριλίου σε CD digipack και ψηφιακή μορφή.

Η ηχογράφηση έγινε στο Red House Music Studio από τον Nick Grey ενώ το μοντάζ στα τύμπανα ανέλαβε ο Δευκαλίων Δήμος. Η εξαιρετική παραγωγή/μίξη έγινε από τον Steve Lado στο SL Studio και το υπέροχο artwork ανήκει στην Νάσια Στυλίδου (Decomposition). Αυτό που όμως μένει να δούμε είναι αν οι ORIA έχτισαν επάνω στο πολύ δυνατό θεμέλιο που δημιούργησαν το 2020 και πόσο τελικά πίεσαν τα μουσικά τους όρια. 

Το This Future Wants Us Dead είναι ένα εννοιολογικό άλμπουμ που εξελίσσεται σε ένα δυστοπικό μέλλον, που δεν φαντάζει και τόσο μακρινό, αφού οι ORIA αγγίζουν θέματα περιβαλλοντικής καταστροφής, τεχνολογικής κυριαρχίας και κοινωνικής απομόνωσης, τα οποία έχουν σπρώξει την ανθρωπότητα στο χείλος της κατάρρευσης.  

Με φωνητικά που ισορροπούν πολύ έξυπνα μεταξύ clean and harsh και μέσω αδυσώπητων riffs, περίπλοκων ρυθμών και κατατρεπτικών/μελαγχολικών μελωδιών, οι ORIA ζωγραφίζουν ένα σκοτεινό, επιθετικό και ενοχλητικά οικείο τοπίο και μας κάνουν κομμάτι  μιας ανυποχώρητης διαδικασίας κοινωνικής και προσωπικής αναζήτησης. Βαδίζοντας μέσα στο σκοτάδι της καταστροφής και με μόνο φως την ελπίδα για ένα καλύτερο μέλλον, η ανθρώπινη ψυχή πρωταγωνιστεί σε έναν αγώνα αντοχής, αναδημιουργίας  και διεκδίκησης του μέλλοντος. 

Οι ORIA έχουν καταφέρει να κάνουν  το This Future Wants Us Dead τόσο κινηματογραφικό που ζωντανεύει μπροστά σου ακούγοντάς το. Εξωκοσμικά στοιχεία και ψυχροί, ρομποτικοί ρυθμοί δημιουργούν ανά στιγμές μία αποστειρωμένη μουσική ατμόσφαιρα που σου θυμίζει το βαρύ κενό μετά την καταστροφή…αυτό το εσωτερικό μούδιασμα  που φαντάζει σαν το πρώτο σου  πρωινό ξύπνημα σ’ έναν μετα-αποκαλυπτικό κόσμο.  

Η άψογη ισορροπία μεταξύ της εκλεπτυσμένης πολυπλοκότητας και ευαισθησίας των  progressive στοιχείων και της ωμής βαρύτητας των groove στοιχείων του άλμπουμ, κάνουν την ήδη εύθραυστη ισορροπία μεταξύ κατάρρευσης και επιβίωσης ακόμα πιο ζωτικής σημασίας, υπενθυμίζοντάς μας την ανθεκτικότητα και την δύναμή μας και διατηρώντας την ζεστή ηλιαχτίδα ελπίδας ζωντανή. 

Οργισμένο, μελαγχολικό, κινηματογραφικό, βαθιά εσωστρεφές και πάρα πολύ ευαίσθητο. Μουσική που προκαλεί και εμπνέει. Με το This Future Wants Us Dead οι ORIA μας αποδεικνύουν για ακόμα μια φορά πως τα όρια υπάρχουν για να τα πιέζουμε. Με υψηλό επίπεδο μουσικότητας, αψεγάδιαστες εκτελέσεις και απαράμιλλη στιχουργική, οι ORIA αφήνουν και πάλι το καταπληκτικό μουσικό τους στίγμα και καθιερώνονται πλέον σταθερά ως ένα από τα πιο δυνατά και ταλαντούχα ανερχόμενα σχήματα της metal μουσικής σκηνής. 

Αν αφεθείς στο This Future Wants Us Dead  θα δεις πως δεν είναι μόνο ένα ταξίδι στην εύθραυστη πραγματικότητα της ανθρωπότητας αλλά κι ένα σκληρό αλλά ταυτόχρονα συναισθηματικά ευάλωτο soundtrack μέσα στο προσωπικό σου αέναο ταξίδι προς την αυτογνωσία, την λύτρωση και την αναδημιουργία. Τόσο σκοτεινό μα τόσο φωτεινό. Άφησε το να σε παρασύρει.

ORIA first appeared in the metal music scene with their strong debut album Sublimation(s), in 2020. Few months ago they announced their signing to Theogonia Records and their long-anticipated sophomore album, This Future Wants Us Dead, which will be released on April 25th in CD digipack and digital format.

The recording was done at Red House Music Studio by Nick Grey while the drums were edited by Deucalion Dimos. The excellent production/mixing was done by Steve Lado at SL Studio and the wonderful artwork is by Nasia Stylidou (Decomposition). But what remains to be seen is whether ORIA built on the very strong foundation they created in 2020 and how much they actually pushed their musical limits. 

This Future Wants Us Dead, is a conceptual album set in a dystopian future that doesn’t seem so far away, as ORIA touch on issues of environmental destruction, technological domination and social isolation that have pushed humanity to the brink of collapse. 

With vocals that very intelligently fluctuate between clean and harsh and through relentless riffs, complex rhythms and devastating/melancholic melodies, ORIA paint a dark, aggressive and disturbingly familiar landscape and make us part of an unyielding process of social and personal search. Marching through the darkness of destruction and with only the hope for a better future as the only light, the human soul takes the lead in a struggle to endure, recreate and reclaim the future. 

ORIA have managed to make This Future Wants Us Dead so cinematic that it comes to life in front of you listening to it. Out of this world elements and cold, robotic rhythms create a sterile musical atmosphere that reminds you of the heavy soul void after the disaster…that internal numbness, exactly how you would imaging your first morning wake-up in a post-apocalyptic world. 

The flawless balance between the sophisticated complexity and sensitivity of the progressive elements and the raw heaviness of the album’s groove elements make the already fragile balance between collapse and survival even more vital, reminding us of our resilience and strength whilst keeping the warm sunshine of hope alive.

Το Guided By The Hand of G.O.D.S. είναι ένα καταιγιστικό τραγούδι που όπως οι ίδιο οι ORIA  δήλωσαν βυθίζεται βαθιά στη δυστοπική φρίκη του ανεξέλεγκτου τεχνολογικού ελέγχου. Αναμειγνύοντας αδυσώπητα grooves, περίπλοκους ρυθμούς και στοιχειωτικές ατμόσφαιρες, το τραγούδι ζωγραφίζει ένα ανατριχιαστικό όραμα ενός κόσμου όπου η ανθρωπότητα χειραγωγείται από τις ίδιες τις μηχανές που δημιούργησε. Έχουμε ακόμα τον έλεγχο ή έχουμε ήδη παραδοθεί;

 

Οι ORIA, ένα τετραμελές metal συγκρότημα από τη Θεσσαλονίκη που σχηματίστηκε το 2018, συνδυάζουν βαριά grooves με progressive στοιχεία, δημιουργώντας ένα δυναμικό, μοναδικό και συνεχώς εξελισσόμενο μουσικό τοπίο, διαμορφωμένο από συμβολικές αναφορές και αφηγήματα, που εκφράζουν μια αιχμηρή κοινωνική κριτική.

Η μουσική και οι στίχοι του This Future Wants Us Dead είναι εξολοκλήρου από τους ORIA. Η ηχογράφηση του album έγινε από τον Nick Grey στα Red House Music Studios  στην Θεσσαλονίκη ενώ η μίξη και το mastering  από τα χέρια του Steve Lado στα SL Studios στην Αθήνα. Στο drum editing βρίσκεται ο Defkalion Dimos και η παραγωγή του album έγινε από τους  ORIA,  τον Steve Lado και τονNick Grey.

 

 

Progressive groove metallers ORIA, from Thessaloniki, Greece released today their first single and official video clip, Guided By The Hand of G.O.D.S., from their upcoming album This Future Wants Us Dead, which is expected to be released on April 25th, 2025 via Theogonia Records.

 

Guided By The Hand of G.O.D.S.is a thunderous song that, as ORIA themselves stated, delves deep into the dystopian horrors of unchecked technological control. Mixing relentless grooves, intricate rhythms and haunting atmospheres, the song paints a chilling vision of a world where humanity is manipulated by the very machines it created. Are we still in control or have we already surrendered?

 

ORIA , a four-piece metal band from Thessaloniki formed in 2018, combines heavy grooves with progressive elements, creating a dynamic, unique and constantly evolving musical landscape, shaped by symbolic references and narratives, expressing a sharp social critique.

Για αυτό και είναι πολύ σημαντικό που το τραγούδι που ανοίγει το ντεμπούτο των ORIA Limitless Insanity είναι από τα καλύτερα αν όχι το καλύτερο του άλμπουμ. Με πολύ μυστηριακή εισαγωγή πολλές εναλλασσόμενες τεχνικές που αποκαλύπτουν τον έντονα τεχνικό progressive χαρακτήρα τους αλλά και Brutal φωνητικά που δημιουργούν τον ιδανικό συνδυασμό για να σε πάρουν απ’ τα αυτιά στο Subliminations! Οι Θεσσαλονικείς που ντεμπουτάρουν στις 9 Οκτώβρη δημιουργήθηκαν το 2018 και ήδη πριν την κυκλοφορία του άλμπουμ έχουν φροντίσει να μας δώσουν δείγματα της δουλειάς τους με βίντεο. Αναφέρουν ως μεγαλύτερες επιρροές τους, τους Slipknot, Gojira, Opeth, Korn και Meshuggah. Και μόνο από τις αναφορές τους, όσο και από τον ήχο τους φαίνεται ότι είναι εντελώς και απολύτως φρεσκαδούρες και δεν έχουν καμία κλασσική αναφορά εκτός ίσως από τους Slayer. Συνδυάζουν τον groove χαρακτήρα τους με τις progressive επιρροές τους χωρίς να γίνονται φλύαροι και κουραστικοί.

To Sublimation(s) είναι Self-released, με παραγωγή και μίξη από τον Νίκο Γεωργιτσόπουλο των Sunburst στο Fireball Music Studio και master απο τον Acle Kahney των TesseracT στο 4D Sounds Studio. Οι Oria συνδυάζουν στοιχεία από διαφορετικές υποκατηγορίες της metal μουσικής.  Έχουν ως θεμελιώδες στοιχείο το Groove ενώ η φιλοσοφία τους πηγάζει από τον Progressive χώρο, δημιουργώντας ένα ποικιλόμορφο αποτέλεσμα με συνεχή ενέργεια και κίνηση, ασυνήθιστα ρυθμικά και δομές, επιτυγχάνοντας όμως να παραμείνει προσβάσιμο στον ακροατή. Φοβεροί ακροβατισμοί στις μελωδίες και τις συνθέσεις με αναπάντεχα συνταιριάσματα όπως ας πούμε στο Flisvus που ενώ είναι εξεζητημένα τεχνικά είναι εύκολα στον απλό ακροατή. Στα δικά μου ακούσματα, αυτία, γούστα πιο κοντά είναι τα τραγούδια με τα πιο brutal φωνητικά όπως και το εισαγωγικό Limitless Insanity. Σε οποιαδήποτε περίπτωση, οι ORIA ακούγονται να μην έχουν όρια στην όρεξη και το ταλέντο τους και μάλλον ήρθαν για να μας βγάλουν και εμάς από τα όρια μας προσφέροντας ένα τόσο σύνθετο και τεχνικό και ταυτόχρονα τόσο κατανοητό και καλό άλμπουμ. Αυτό από μόνο του είναι μεγάλο κατόρθωμα και σίγουρα μόλις ξεκινήσουν τα live θα επιδιώξουμε να τους δούμε να τα σπάνε επί σκηνής.

Tο τετραμελές Progressive Groove Metal συγκρότημα από τη Θεσσαλονίκη, μόλις κυκλοφόρησε το video clip για το τελευταίο τους κομμάτι The Demon Beside My Bed από τον debut δίσκο τους Sublimation(s), ο οποίος αναμένεται να κυκλοφορήσει μέσα το 2020.

Η ζοφερή ατμόσφαιρα του video clip εμπνευσμένη από ταινία τρόμου, ενσαρκώνει την ψυχολογική κατάσταση και τις σκέψεις της πρωταγωνίστριας. Η μουσική βαριά αλλά μελωδική, σε ένα 9λεπτο συνθετικό παραλήρημα της μπάντας με έντονη την “Opethική” αισθητική!

Το Blame Yourselves είναι ένα ποικιλόμορφο κομμάτι με στοιχεία από τον progressive χώρο και ο ήχος του εναλλάσσεται ραγδαία μεταξύ του ήπιου και του επιθετικού. Η μουσική συμβαδίζει με το στιχουργικό περιεχόμενο του κομματιού και μια ιστορία με έντονη οικολογική συνείδηση εκτυλίσσεται.

To Sublimation(s) είναι Self-released, με παραγωγή και μίξη από τον Νίκο Γεωργιτσόπουλο των Sunburst στο Fireball Music Studio και master απο τον Acle Kahney των TesseracT στο 4D Sounds Studio.

Οι Oria συνδυάζουν στοιχεία από διαφορετικές υποκατηγορίες της metal μουσικής.  Έχουν ως θεμελιώδες στοιχείο το Groove ενώ η φιλοσοφία τους πηγάζει από τον Progressive χώρο, δημιουργώντας ένα ποικιλόμορφο αποτέλεσμα με συνεχή ενέργεια και κίνηση, ασυνήθιστα ρυθμικά και δομές, επιτυγχάνοντας όμως να παραμείνει προσβάσιμο στον ακροατή.
