Το νέο της single ονομάζεται Victorious και περιέχει πληθώρα καλεσμένων. Κύριο guest πίσω από το μικρόφωνο αποτελεί η καλλιτέχνης από την Ουγγαρία, Dorothy Martin. Ταυτόχρονα, στο video συμμετέχουν και η ανερχόμενη 13χρονη κιθαρίστρια Charlotte Milstein η οποία και υποδύεται την Nita σε νεαρή ηλικία καθώς και η παιδική φίλη/ πρώην συμπαίκτρια της Strauss και παράλληλα U.S. Olympian, πρώην WBO και IBF πρωταθλήτρια Mikalea Mayer.

Σχετικά με το Victorious, η ίδια σχολίασε:

Another single/video clip has been released by Nita Strauss, paving the way for the release of her new solo album, The Call of the The Void, which is expected on July 7 via Sumerian Records.

Her new single is called Victorious and features a plethora of guests. The main guest behind the microphone is Hungarian artist Dorothy Martin. At the same time, the video also features upcoming 13-year-old guitarist Charlotte Milstein who plays Nita at a young age and Strauss‘ childhood friend/former teammate and also U.S. Olympian, former WBO and IBF champion Mikalea Mayer.

On Victorious, she commented:

“Victorious is the anthem I always wanted, a song about inspiring change, marching forward relentlessly, being willing to save yourself instead of waiting for someone to do it for you, and never backing down from a fight. Dorothy was the perfect powerhouse voice and personality to stand and deliver and knock this one out of the park”.

With Dorothy Martin adding:

Το νέο αυτό single είναι για το κομμάτι The Golden Trail, το οποίο και παρουσιάζει μία πιο extreme πλευρά της κιθαρίστριας, καθώς ηχητικά είναι πιο κοντά στα μονοπάτια που έχουμε γνωρίσει και μάθει τον Anders Friden.

Παράλληλα, η Strauss δημοσίευσε και το track list του νέου τις δίσκου, κατ επέκταση και όλους τους καλεσμένους που συμμετέχουν στην κυκλοφορία. Nita Strauss has released another single from her new personal album, Into The Void. This time, Nita is joined by IN FLAMES‘ frontman Anders Friden, with names such as Alice Cooper, Alisa White-Gluz and David Draiman having preceded her in previous single/video clips as guests.

This new single is for the track The Golden Trail, which showcases a more extreme side of the guitarist, as it is sonically closer to the trails we know Anders Friden for.

At the same time, Strauss has also released the track list for her new album, and by extension, all the guests involved in the release. With Alice Cooper, Alisa White-Gluz, David Draiman and Anders Friden having already made an appearance, we also find Chris Motionless, Lzzy Hale , Dorothy, Lilith Czar and Marty Friedman appearing also to the album.

Όπως ανέφερε και η ίδια για την νέα της δουλειά “Όταν δουλεύαμε πάνω στην μουσική αυτού του δίσκου, ήθελα αδιαμφισβήτητα να φτιάξω ένα τραγούδι για να συνεργαστώ με τον επί χρόνια φίλο και εργοδότη μου, Alice Cooper. Νομίζω πως το τραγούδι κατορθώνει αυτό που εξ αρχής ξεκινήσαμε να κάνουμε, δείχνει την φωνή του Alice Cooper και το χαρακτηριστικό του στυλ πάνω από ένα heavy/modern rock κομμάτι. Μετά από πολλά χρόνια κατά τα οποία βάζω το παικτικό μου ύφος στα κομμάτια του Alice επί σκηνής, ήταν πραγματικά τιμή το να δουλέψουμε μαζί και ακούσω την φωνή του σε ένα δικό μου κομμάτι”.

Το Winner Takes All θα κυκλοφορήσει αργότερα μέσα στην χρονιά από την Sumerian Records και σύμφωνα με τις μέχρι τώρα πληροφορίες θα περιέχει 6 instrumental συνθέσεις και 6 με την συμμετοχή κάποιου καλεσμένου πίσω από το μικρόφωνο. Με τους 3 από αυτούς να έχουν ήδη αποκαλυφθεί μέσω των δημοσιευμένων single,αναμένουμε με μεγάλο ενδιαφέρον τους εναπομείναντες.

One more single is released from Alice Cooper’s guitarist, Nita‘s Strauss upcoming album. Winner Takes All is the third single and title track from her new album and features Alice Cooper this time.

As she said about her new album, “When we were working on the music for this album, there was no question that I wanted to create a song to collaborate with my longtime boss and friend, the legendary Alice Cooper. I think the track accomplishes what we set out to do — showcase Alice’s voice and signature style on the backdrop of a heavy, modern rock track. After many years of lending my style of playing to Alice‘s music on stage, it was truly an honor to work together and hear his voice on one of my songs ”

Winner Takes All will be released later this year by Sumerian Records and according to the information so far it will contain 6 instrumental compositions and 6 with the participation of a guest behind the microphone. With 3 of them already revealed through the released singles,we await the remaining ones with great interest.

Για όσους δε γνωρίζετε το πρώτο Colors, κυκλοφόρησε το 2007 και ήταν ένα άλμπουμ το οποίο χαρακτηρίστηκε ως επανακάλυψη του progressive metal, συνδυάζοντας progressive με death/melodic-metal στοιχεία. Οι BTBAM φυσικά συνέχισαν να δημιουργούν εξαιρετικό modern progressive metal, το Colors όμως πάντα είχε μια υπέροχη ιδιορρυθμία που το κάνει μοναδικό, έτσι οι προσδοκίες μας για το Colors II είναι μεγάλες.

Το opener του  Colors II είναι το “Monochrome”, μία πιάνο μπαλάντα που με ένα λαχταριστό κρεσέντο θα μας μεταφέρει στο “The Double Helix Of Extinction”  και σε βομβαρδιστικό prog-death metal, με τους Paul Wagonner και Dustie Waring να μας δίνουν σαρωτικά breakdown riffs στις κιθάρες και τον Blake Richardson να είναι καταιγιστικός στα τύμπανα.

Tο εννιάλεπτο “Revolution In Limbo” είναι ένα σαγηνευτικό συνονθύλευμα ήχων, με πολύπλοκες μουσικές μεταβάσεις, κλασική progressive προσέγγιση με τσαχπίνικες αλλαγές μαθηματικής ακρίβειας και μία σταδιακή επιβράδυνση που οδηγεί σε λάτιν ρυθμούς αλλάζοντας τελείως το συναίσθημα του κομματιού, και υπενθυμίζοντάς μας πως οι BTBAM είναι οι μάστορες της τέχνης τους.

Στo “Fix The Error” οι special guests Mike Portnoy (Dream Theater /Solo 1), Naven Koperweis (Animals As Leaders/Solo 2) και Ken Shalk (Candiria /Solo 3), πλαισιώνουν τον Blake Richardson σε μία ντραμιστική extravaganza με απεριόριστη ενέργεια που εκτός από prog-death realness, δίνει Dan Briggs bass-led jazz ήχους και gospel ατμόσφαιρα, μεσώ των πολύ εύστοχων και υπέροχα εκτελεσμένων ματζόρε μεταβάσεων.

Το “Never Seen/Future Shock”,  είναι το δωδεκάλεπτο μεγαθήριο που αναδεικνύει τη ποικιλομορφία που με επιτυχία έφεραν στο Colors II οι BTBAM. Βάρβαρα riffs τα οποία “σβήνουν” με ξύλινα πνευστά, σε μία μελωδική μάχη με τον Tommy Rogers να ηγείται της αρένας μεταξύ μοχθηρών γρυλισμάτων αλλά και πολλών μελωδικών James LaBrie στιγμών.

Στα “Stare Into The Abyss” και “Τurbulent”  οι BTBAM κατεβάζουν τους τόνους ενώ το υπόλοιπο άλμπουμ συνεχίζει σε πολύπλευρο έδαφος με jazz, moody/electro, country/rockabilly fusion κρατώντας τον progressive/death χαρακτήρα τους και επιδεικνύοντας την πολύ εύστοχη genre-bending ικανότητά τους.

Μπορεί το  Colors II να μην επανεφεύρει το progressive metal όπως ο προκάτοχός του, επαναφέρει όμως τη μουσική ανησυχία του. Στο Colors II οι Between The Buried And Me μας συστήνουν σ ’ένα ευρύ φάσμα επιρροών εξαιρετικά εκτελεσμένο και αναπροσδιορίζονται μουσικά μένοντας πιστοί στη δομή όσων έχουν προηγηθεί. Το αποτέλεσμα; Συναρπαστικό, διασκεδαστικά ιδιόρρυθμο, άκρως ικανοποιητικό και σίγουρα μέσα στα καλύτερα του 2021!

Today we have for you progressive metal from North Carolina, from Between The Buried And Me (BTBAM) and their album Colors II, which was released by Sumerian Records on August 20th.

For those who are not familiar with the first Colors, it was released in 2007 and was an album that was described as a reinvention of progressive metal, combining progressive with death/melodic-metal elements. Since then BTBAM have continued to create excellent modern progressive metal, but Colors has always had a wonderful quirk that makes it unique, so our expectations for Colors II are high.

The opener of Colors II is “Monochrome”, a piano ballad which with an appetizing crescendo takes us into the “The Double Helix Of Extinction”, a bombastic prog-death metal track, with Paul Wagonner and Dustie Waring giving us sweeping breakdown riffs on the guitars and Blake Richardson being thunderous on the drums.

The nine-minute “Revolution In Limbo” is a mesmerizing mixture of sounds, with complex musical transitions, a classic progressive approach with quirky changes of mathematical precision and a gradual slowdown leading into Latin rhythms, completely changing the feeling of the track, reminding us that BTBAM are the masters of their craft.

“Fix The Error” with special guests Mike Portnoy (Dream Theater /Solo 1), Naven Koperweis (Animals As Leaders,Solo 2) and Ken Shalk (Candiria, /Solo 3), who join Blake Richardson, is a drumming extravaganza with boundless energy that, apart from prog-death realness, gives us Dan Briggs bass-led jazz sounds and gospel atmosphere, amidst very apt and beautifully executed major transitions.

“Never Seen/Future Shock”, is a 12-minute striking performance showcasing the diversity that the BTBAM successfully brought to Colors II. Barbaric riffs, beating down towards woodwinds sounds, in a melodic battle with Tommy Rogers leading the arena with heartfelt vicious growls as well as many melodic James LaBrie moments.

With “Stare Into The Abyss” and “Turbulent” , BTBAM lower the tones while the rest of the album continues on versatile ground with jazz, moody/electro, country/rockabilly fusion keeping their progressive/death character while showing off their very apt genre-bending ability.

Colors II may not reinvent progressive metal like its predecessor, but it brings back its beautiful musical peculiarity. In Colors II, Between The Buried And Me introduce us to a wide range of influences superbly executed and they are redefined musically whilst staying true to the structure of what has come before. The result? Exciting, fun, quirky, highly satisfying and definitely among the best of 2021!
