«Αυτή τη φορά ένιωσα μεγαλύτερη αυτοπεποίθηση», εξηγεί ο κιθαρίστας Niclas Engelin, ο οποίος συνυπογράφει τη μουσική των THE HALO EFFECT μαζί με τους Jesper Strömblad (κιθάρες), Daniel Svensson (ντραμς) και Peter Iwers (μπάσο). «Για το πρώτο τραγούδι με τους THE HALO EFFECT, δεν ξέραμε πού να πάμε. Μιλούσαμε για τους Rush και την progressive μουσική, ή ίσως θα έπρεπε να πάμε στον Tom Petty. Αλλά μετά ο Peter είχε την ιδέα για την έναρξη του [τραγουδιού Days of the Lost] ‘Gateways‘, και μετά κάναμε τα ‘Shadowminds‘ και ‘Feel What I Believe‘. Είπαμε, ‘Εντάξει! Ας μην ψάχνουμε άλλο! Ας το κυνηγήσουμε και ας μην το πολυσκεφτούμε». Χρησιμοποιήσαμε αυτόν τον κανόνα σε αυτό το άλμπουμ. Είναι πιο prog, με περισσότερες κιθάρες, περισσότερα riffage – είναι περισσότερο από όλα, κατά κάποιο τρόπο».

Συνθέσεις μελωδικές και πάρα πολύ ζωντανές φτιαγμένες για να παιχτούν σε συναυλία και να ξεσηκώσουν και τραγούδια πιασάρικα που θα σου μείνουν από το πρώτο άκουσμα και θα θυμάσαι. Αγαπημένο μου και πρώτο στην προτίμησή μου το Between Directions ενώ ξεχώρισα με σχετική ευκολία το πρώτο του άλμπουμ What We Become και το Conspire To Deceive. Άκουσέ το και είμαι σίγουρη ότι θα σε κερδίσει από το πρώτο άκουσμα ενώ θα σου ανεβάσει και τη διάθεση.

When THE HALO EFFECT’s debut album came out, my excitement hit the roof and the year that Days Of The Lost came out, I loved it both in the listening sessions and in the broadcasts of my shows at Metalradio.gr. With the passage of time it lost nothing of its value and my willingness to return to it because already from its release I felt it as an album that had a place in my favorites. The truth is I was afraid of what I would hear on the second album. I also follow Niclas Engelin on social who also has the motto Obey the riff and I was thinking, “make sure you write a good album or else even the Danube can’t wash you out”.

And along comes the release of March Of The Undead to start the list of 2025 releases and guess what… they wrote a really nice album. They don’t reinvent the wheel of course, but we weren’t expecting that. It’s the music of the good old In Flames of the Whoracle era (no coincidence with that kind of band line-up) with Mikael Stanne on vocals, with songs that win you over on first listen and you come back with ease and without a second thought.

“I felt more confident this time around,” explains guitarist Niclas Engelin, who co-writes THE HALO EFFECT’s music with fellow instrumentalists Jesper Strömblad (guitars), Daniel Svensson (drums) and Peter Iwers (bass). “For the first song with THE HALO EFFECT, we didn’t know where to go. We were talking about Rush and progressive music, or maybe we should go Tom Petty. But then Peter had the idea for the opening of [Days of the Lost song] ‘Gateways’, and then we did ‘Shadowminds’ and ‘Feel What I Believe’. We were like, ‘Alright! Let’s not search anymore! Let’s just go for it and not overthink.’ We used that rule on this album. It’s more progressive, with more guitars, more riffage – it’s more of everything, in a way.”

Melodic and very much alive compositions made to be played in a concert and to stir up and catchy songs that will stay with you from the first listen and you will remember. My favorite and first in my preference is Between Directions, while I also easily picked out the first song of the album What We Become and Conspire To Deceive. Give it a listen and I’m sure it will win you over from the first listen while it will also lift your spirits.

Μπήκαμε στο φεστιβάλ την ώρα που οι δικοί μας 1000 MODS έβαζαν την δικιά τους stoner rock πινελιά στην εμπειρία μας αν και θα ήθελα να δω νωρίτερα και DOPELORD και STONED JESUS αλλά να τρέχεις πέμπτη μέρα από τις 2 το μεσημέρι είναι λίγο … ανέφικτο….

Κράτησαν τον κόσμο σε μια εγρήγορση και ήταν για μια ακόμη φορά στα υψηλά live standard που έχουν θέσει οι ίδιοι εδώ και χρόνια.

Την ίδια ώρα στην μικρή σκηνή γινόταν ένα άλλο πανηγύρι με τους LEFT TO DIE που αν θυμάστε και από την επίσκεψη τους στην Αθήνα και σε λίγες μέρες Θεσσαλονίκη, είναι ένα ουσιαστικά super group φόρος τιμής στον τεράστιο Chuck.

Αν ζούσε αυτή τη στιγμή ο Chuck θα είχε την χαρά να βιώσει το μέγεθος της αξίας αυτού που πρόσφερε. Όσοι είστε Θεσσαλονίκη μη χάσετε την ευκαιρία να τους δείτε.

Ξανά πίσω στη μεγάλη σκηνή οι LEPROUS προσπαθούν να μεταδώσουν με έντονη κινητικότητα την μουσική τους ποικιλία σε ένα κοινό που μένει επί το πλείστων αδιάφορο. Ας πάω σκέφτηκα ξανά στην μικρή σκηνή να δω λίγο τι είναι αυτοί οι HUMANITY S LAST  BREATH και αφού χαράμισα δεκαπέντε λεπτά από την ζωή μου ακούγοντας ένα χείριστο mix από όλα τα είδη του death metal πήγα να ξανακούσω τον Μιχαλάκη που βγήκε για δεύτερη μέρα ζωντανά αλλά αυτή τη φορά με τους THE HALO EFFECT.

Πολύ τυχεροί όσοι το ζήσαμε αυτό. Φανταστικός ήχος, απόδοση ,κέφι και τολμώ να πω ότι δείχνει να το διασκεδάζει πολύ περισσότερο από ότι στους DARK TRANQUILITY, ίσως γιατί είναι κάτι φρέσκο που τον έχει ανανεώσει ολοφάνερα.

Στη μικρή σκηνή οι THE EXPLOITED δίνουν μια γερή ένεση αδρεναλίνης στην ημέρα που ήταν κάπως υποτονική. Του είδατε και λίγους μήνες πριν Αθήνα. Τι να λέμε τώρα. Απίστευτο που αυτός ο άνθρωπος με όλα όσα έχει περάσει στέκεται πάνω στη σκηνή με τόση ένταση και ενέργεια που βάζει κάτω 100 20χρονα. Το κλείσιμο με δεκάδες φανς πάνω στη σκηνή να τραγουδούν το Sex and Violence θα μείνει χαραγμένο στο μυαλό πολλών για αρκετό καιρό.

Βρέθηκα πάλι στη μέγαλη σκηνή να δω λίγο από Jinjer που αν και περνούν μια παράξενη φάση στην μουσική πορεία τους δείχνουν πάνω στην σκηνή ακόμη ορεξάτοι. Το κοινό έμεινε αποσβολωμενο να θαυμάζει τα φωνητικά χαρίσματα της Tatiana και έχω την αίσθηση ότι σύντομα θα έχουμε εξελίξεις στο θέμα που ονομάζεται JINJER.

Πίσω στην μικρή σκηνή για να δούμε DARK FUNERAL που μέχρι στιγμής ήταν η black metal αποκάλυψη του φεστιβάλ. Τελειότητα. Παίζοντας τραγούδια από όλη την ιστορία τους με ακραία απόδοση και συναίσθημα κέρδισαν τους πάντες. Η επιλογή του να παίξουν το Shadows over Transylvania δεν ήταν καθόλου τυχαία αντίθετα δέχθηκε την ενθουσιώδη αποδοχή του κοινού.

Ώρα για τον δεύτερο Μιχάλη της βραδιά. Πρόλαβα ένα τέταρτο OPETH που ήταν ελαφρώς κατώτεροι από την εμφάνιση τους στην Αθήνα πράγμα που σε αυτό νομίζω έπαιξε ρόλο και η συμμετοχή του κόσμου που ήταν χλιαρή . Η μεγάλη μπάντα της βραδιάς ήταν οι Suicidal Tendencies που πραγματικά έσπειραν και έδωσαν το καλύτερο τους εαυτό με τον κόσμο να έχει έρθει σε έναν παροξυσμό αντιδράσεων. Εδώ κάπου όμως θα φάω κράξιμο για την επιλογή μου αλλά αφησα την μεγάλη σκηνή για να δω τους…. PARADISE LOST….

Ναι τους PARADISE LOST. Ομολογώ ότι έπαθα ένα μικρό homesick και ήθελα κάπως να νιώσω Ελλάδα και τι πιο ελληνικό από το να βλέπεις ζωντανά τους PARADISE LOST. Ενώ όμως θα έπρεπε να έχουν ήδη ξεκινήσει κάποια τεράστια τεχνικά προβλήματα τους έκαναν να καθυστερήσουν αλλά και να δυσανασχετούν καθ’ όλη την διάρκεια του σετ μιας και τα προ ηχογραφημένα keyboard δεν λειτουργούσαν σωστά και μπέρδευαν την ίδια την μπάντα αλλά κατέστρεφαν και όλο το ηχητικό αποτέλεσμα. Αν και βγήκαν 20 λεπτά αργότερα, τράβηξαν κάνα δεκάλεπτο το πιο αργά το κλείσιμο τους και πρόλαβαν να παίξουν δέκα κομμάτια σε 50 λεπτά σε ένα κοινό που πραγματικά γούσταρε πολύ να τους δει. Στις πρώτες σειρές υπήρχαν άτομα που δάκρυζαν σε κάθε κομμάτι. Άτομα όλων των ηλικιών όλοι με μπλουζάκια PARADISE LOST, από oldschool doom deathsters μέχρι εφήβους πράγμα που δείχνει και το πλατύ εύρος του κοινού που έχει η μπάντα.

Στη διάρκεια της συναυλίας οι ατάκες τους Holmes έδιναν και έπαιρναν. “Απόψε έχουμε μερικά gremlin στα μηχανήματα”, “Το να παίζεις υπό τέτοιες συνθήκες είναι ο εφιάλτης του μουσικού, αλλά ευτυχώς αυτός ο εφιάλτης θα τελειώσει σύντομα” “Είστε πέντε μέρες στο φεστιβάλ και δεν έχετε κουραστεί ακόμα; Εγώ είμαι πέντε ώρες εδώ και έχω γαμηθει” και άλλα τέτοια όμορφα. Έκλεισαν με μια συγκλονιστική εκτέλεση του ” Small town boy”. Πείτε μου τώρα….όλο αυτό το σκηνικό δεν θύμιζε Ελλάδα; Χαχαχαχα….

Το τέλος έδωσαν  οι  blackmetallers 1349 στη μικρή σκηνή, που μάζεψε αρκετό όμως κόσμο, που με το oldschool μισανθρωπικό τους black metal ήταν μάλλον το πρέπον κλείσιμο για την μέρα του φεστιβάλ με τα πιο παράξενα vibes. Πολύ τυχεροί όσοι τους είδαμε ζωντανά μιας και το βρίσκω αβέβαιο αν ποτέ έρθουν από τα μέρη μας. Φοβερή απόδοση και παρουσία πάνω στη σκηνή με τα μηχανήματα ξηρού καπνού να προσθέτουν μια απόκοσμη αίσθηση.

Την ίδια απόκοσμη αίσθηση που είχε καινή επιστροφή μας, όπου νιώσαμε τα πρώτα creepy vibes αυτού που πραγματικά είναι η Τρανσυλβανία με τους λύκους να περνούν μπροστά μας στον δρόμο και τα σύννεφα να έχουν κατέβει και καλύψει ένας μέρος του βουνού …

Και πρόσθεσε: “Οπότε, θα είναι ενδιαφέρον. Ανυπομονώ να το ακούσει ο κόσμος γιατί είμαι απίστευτα περήφανος γι’ αυτό”.

Σε ερώτηση αν το δεύτερο άλμπουμ των THE HALO EFFECT αποτελεί “συνέχεια” του “Days Of The Lost”, το οποίο κυκλοφόρησε πέρυσι, ο Stanne είπε: “Ναι, έτσι νομίζω. Νομίζω ότι ο Niclas και ο Jesper είχαν μεγαλύτερη αυτοπεποίθηση όσον αφορά τη σύνθεση των τραγουδιών τους, όπου είναι, όπως, “Ναι, αυτό θα λειτουργήσει”. Και υπάρχουν και κάποιοι ωραίοι πειραματισμοί στο άλμπουμ, αλλά μερικά από τα τραγούδια είναι απλά ξεκάθαρα, σαν να μην υπάρχουν ερωτήσεις. Είναι τόσο εύκολα και τόσο στο θέμα, ξέρεις. Οπότε είναι κάπως διασκεδαστικό όταν παίρνω την demo έκδοση ενός τραγουδιού και αρχίζω να σκέφτομαι τους στίχους και τα φωνητικά, είναι σαν να βγάζει νόημα. Απλά το ξέρω απ’ έξω. Είναι τόσο εύκολο. Το οποίο είναι – είναι περίεργο, αλλά είναι σαν να μου μιλάει με έναν τρόπο που λέω: “Εντάξει, ξέρω ακριβώς τι να κάνω και μπορώ να το τελειώσω μέσα σε λίγες μέρες”. Έτσι νιώθω μερικές φορές. Απλά ακούς ένα τραγούδι και λες, ‘Ναι, το ξέρω ήδη αυτό. Ξέρω ακριβώς τι να κάνω. Και θα είναι υπέροχο”.

Οι THE HALO EFFECT παρουσίασαν για πρώτη φορά δύο ολοκαίνουργια τραγούδια, τα “Become Surrender” και “The Defiant One“, κατά τη διάρκεια της περιοδείας τους στη Σουηδία τον Φεβρουάριο του 2023. Μιλώντας στο MoreCore.TV για την απόφαση να παρουσιάσουν νέο υλικό πριν αυτό ηχογραφηθεί και κυκλοφορήσει επίσημα, ο Mikael δήλωσε “Αποφασίσαμε να [δοκιμάσουμε λίγο το νερό], να δούμε αν ο κόσμος γουστάρει το νέο υλικό που γράφουμε. Όχι ότι είναι εξαιρετικά διαφορετικό, αλλά και πάλι… Και ήταν διασκεδαστικό να δοκιμάζουμε πράγματα και να βλέπουμε αν αρέσει στον κόσμο. Και φαίνεται να το γουστάρουν. Οπότε είμαστε πραγματικά ενθουσιασμένοι”.

THE HALO EFFECT, the new project featuring five former members of the Swedish metal band IN FLAMES — Jesper Strömblad (guitar),Daniel Svensson (drums),Peter Iwers (bass),Niclas Engelin (guitar) and Mikael Stanne (vocals) — recently completed mixing its sophomore album. In a new interview with Finland’s Chaoszine, Stanne stated about the upcoming LP: “It’s done, and it sounds awesome. But, yeah, we were [originally] supposed to do an EP [instead of a full-length album] — we had that kind of plan — but then we realized, ‘Ah, maybe not.’ So now we’re gonna release the album beginning of next year and starting with singles and that kind of stuff soon. So it’s really exciting, because we worked really hard just to fit into all of our schedules to make sure that the album was kind of done in time, and then we figured out like a release schedule and a release date and all that stuff. So it’s been — not stressful, but we did a lot during a short period of time, which ended up being fantastic just because it turned out a much more confident album, I think. It’s very focused and you can, you can probably tell — at least from the people that I’ve played it to — that whereas the first time was kind of, like, ‘Hey, let’s figure out what we wanna do,’ whereas this is kind of, like, ‘This is exactly what we wanna do.'”

He added: “So it’s, it’s gonna be interesting. I can’t wait to have people hear it because I’m incredibly proud of it.”

Asked if the second THE HALO EFFECT album is a “continuation” of “Days Of The Lost”, which came out last year, Stanne said: “Yeah, I think so. I think Niclas and Jesper were more confident in terms of their songwriting, where it’s, like, ‘Yeah, this is gonna work.’ And there are some cool experimentation on the album as well, but some of the songs are just like straight up, like there’s no questions. It’s just so easy and so to the point, you know. So it’s kind of fun when I get the demo version of a song, and I start thinking about lyrics and vocals, it’s, like, it just makes sense. I just know this by heart. It’s so easy. Which is — it is weird, but it’s just, like, it speaks to me in a way that where I go like, ‘Okay, I know exactly what to do and I can finish it in a matter of days.’ That’s sometimes how it feels. You just hear a song and you go, like, ‘Yep, I know this already. I know exactly what to do. And it’s gonna be great.”

THE HALO EFFECT debuted two brand new songs, “Become Surrender” and “The Defiant One”, during its February 2023 Swedish tour. Speaking to MoreCore.TV about the decision to perform new material before it is officially recorded and released, Mikael said: “We decided to [test the water a little bit], see if people are into the new stuff that we’re writing. Not that it’s super different, but still… And it’s been fun to kind of, yeah, try things out and see if people are into it. And they seem to be digging it. So we’re really excited.”

Purveyors of the legendary Gothenburg sound THE HALO EFFECT have presented us with a visualizer for the song ´Path Of Fierce Resistance´, which was previously released as a Japanese exclusive on the band’s globally acclaimed debut album Days Of The Lost, that was released in August 2022. Now, the ferocious track is finally being released to the rest of the world, before the band embarks on their first US headline run in May and gets back to the studio to work on their next full-length album.

Frontman Mikael Stanne comments:”Path Of Fierce Resistance” is a song we wrote for the Days of the Lost album but it only surfaced on the limited Japanese edition and it has been very close to us and having it here now for all to hear feels fantastic. The new album is in the works and we are incredibly excited about it, so consider this as something to keep you guys going until we unveil what is coming next.
The song is another Jesper and Niclas classic that features everything that we love doing together in this band. Lyrically it deals with unrealistic expectations and about how important it is to follow one’s own path and be adamant about it no matter what. We start our tour in the US on the 20th of May and we are beyond stoked to bring this band to America for the first time. Do not miss this!”

Τα πρώτα δείγματα δόθηκαν στις ζωντανές τους εμφανίσεις τον περασμένο Φεβρουάριο και όπως ήταν αναμενόμενο, δεν άργησαν να ξεκινήσουν να δουλεύουν πάνω στην νέα τους δισκογραφική δουλειά.

Το ξεκίνημα των ηχογραφήσεων γνωστοποίησε η ίδια η μπάντα δημοσιεύοντας φωτογραφίες μέσα από το studio μέσω του profile της στο instagram.

With their debut album being admittedly one of the best releases of the past year, THE HALO EFFECT, as it seems, are preparing the successor of Days Of The Lost.

The first samples were given at their live performances last February and as expected, it didn’t take long for them to start working on their new record.

The band themselves announced the start of the recording sessions by posting photos from inside the studio via their instagram profile.

Η μπάντα έχει ήδη αρχίσει να περιοδεύει και να παίζει ζωντανά σε καλοκαιρινά φεστιβάλ και ο κόσμος έχει αγκαλιάσει τα τραγούδια τους σαν να πρόκειται για μια καθιερωμένη μπάντα. Όπως σχολίασε ο Mikael στην εμφάνισή τους στο Wacken 2022 “Ποτέ άλλοτε μια μπάντα δεν είχε δημιουργήσει τόσο μεγάλο hype γύρω της για το ντεμπούτο της“.  Και σε μια εποχή που τα μέσα κοινωνικής δικτύωσης είναι τα κύρια εργαλεία για τη δημιουργία μιας viral τάσης οι THE HALO EFFECT είναι η πιο καυτή μπάντα στη metal σκηνή με το αγνό μελωδικό death metal που έχουν δημιουργήσει. Το είδος του death metal που αγαπούν οι οπαδοί στον Σουηδικό ήχο και που έλειπε για αρκετό καιρό.

Το Days Of The Lost που κυκλοφορεί τώρα από την Nuclear Blast είναι το άλμπουμ που μας έλειπε, το μελωδικό death metal που χρειαζόμασταν και ψάχναμε για πολύ καιρό. Όλα τα τραγούδια έχουν εθιστικά riffs και πιασάρικα hooks που κολλάνε στο μυαλό σου από την πρώτη φορά που τα ακούς, κάτι που ήταν αρκετά εμφανές όταν η μπάντα έπαιξε ζωντανά και το κοινό πήρε φωτιά σε τραγούδια που δεν είχε ξανακούσει! Είμαι παλιά οπαδός του metal και δεν θυμάμαι άλλη τέτοια περίπτωση! Οι στίχοι του Mikael Stanne είναι τόσο ειλικρινείς με τους οποίους μπορείς να ταυτιστείς απόλυτα και τα καθαρά φωνητικά του έχουν ένα χρώμα που διαφέρει από τα καθαρά φωνητικά των DARK TRANQUILLITY που τα κάνει πιο άμεσα. Ειλικρινά δεν μπορώ να πω ποια τραγούδια είναι καλύτερα, αλλά έχω αδυναμία στα Conditional, Gateways, The Needless End και In Broken Trust.

Το μόνο που μπορώ να πω για το Days Of The Lost είναι ότι είναι εξαιρετικό και ανακινεί τα βαθύτερα συναισθήματά σου, γεγονός που το καθιστά πολύτιμο. Πώς μπορούμε να μην το αποκαλέσουμε αριστούργημα;

Ever since November 2021 all of us who love IN FLAMES and DARK TRANQUILLITY have been struck by lightning. As the months passed and THE HALO EFFECT kept revealing more songs from their debut album Days Of The Lost, we just couldn’t wait for the release of the first album made by former IN FLAMES members, Jesper Strömblad, Niclas Engelin, Peter Iwers,  Daniel Svensson  and DARK TRANQUILLITY mastermind Mikael Stanne.

The band has already started touring and playing live in summer festivals and the crowds have been embracing their songs as if they are an established band. As Mikael commented in their appearance in Wacken 2022 “Never before has a band had such a huge hype built around it for its debut”.  And in a time when social media are the main tools to create a viral trend THE HALO EFFECT are the hottest talk in the metal scene with the pure melodic death metal they have created. The kind of death metal fans love in the Swedish sound and have been missing for quite a while.

Days Of The Lost out now on Nuclear Blast is the album we had been missing, the melodic death metal we needed and have been searching for a very long time. All songs have addictive riffs and catchy hooks that stick to your mind by the first time you listen to them which was quite obvious when the band played live and the crowd caught fire on songs they had never listened to before! I am a long-time fan of metal and I don’t remember any other case like that! Mikael Stanne’s lyrics are so sincere that you can totally relate to, and his clean vocals have a color that differs from the clean vocals in DARK TRANQUILLITY which makes them more direct. I honestly can’t say which songs are better but I have a soft spot for Conditional, Gateways, The Needless End and In Broken Trust.

All I can say about Days Of The Lost is that it’s brilliant and it stirs your deepest emotions which makes it precious. How can we keep from calling it a masterpiece?

Λίγο πριν ανέβουν στη σκηνή του θρυλικού Sweden Rock festival, η μπάντα αποκαλύπτει ακόμα ένα μελωδικό death metal διαμάντι, που οδηγεί στο πολυαναμενόμενο ντεμπούτο άλμπουμ τους “Days Of The Lost“, το οποίο θα κυκλοφορήσει στις 12 Αυγούστου μέσω της Nuclear Blast.

Ο frontman Mikael Stanne μιλάει για το κομμάτι: “Το “The Needless End” ασχολείται με την παραλυτική αδυναμία αντιμετώπισης αφηρημένων προβλημάτων. Θέματα που απλά φαίνονται πολύ μεγάλα ή ακατανόητα μένουν στο περιθώριο προκειμένου να ασχοληθούμε με πιο άμεσα αλλά λιγότερο σημαντικά ζητήματα. Καταλήγουμε κάπου όχι επειδή το θέλουμε αλλά επειδή δεν μπορέσαμε να καταλάβουμε τι έπρεπε να κάνουμε. Υπάρχει μια ένταση σε αυτό το τραγούδι και μια ανεβαστική μελωδία που νομίζω ότι ταιριάζει σε αυτή την ιδέα. Ανάμεσα σε όλο τον θυμό και την αγανάκτηση είναι επίσης ελπιδοφόρο και έχει ένα μεταδοτικό groove και ορμή.”

Three singles have been released so far by the new Gothenburg outfit THE HALO EFFECT and they have raised a lot of attention and praise in the media and fan world.

Just before hitting the stage at legendary Sweden Rock festival, the band yet reveals another melodic death metal gem,  leading up to their highly anticipated debut album “Days Of The Lost”, to be released on August 12^th via Nuclear Blast.

Frontman Mikael Stanne tells about the track: “The Needless End deals with the crippling inability to deal with abstract problems. Issues that just seem too huge or incomprehensible falls by the wayside in order to deal with more immediate but less important issues. We end up somewhere not because we want to but because we were unable to understand what we needed to do. There is an intensity to this song and a uplifting melody that I think suits this idea. Among all the anger and resentment it’s also hopeful and has an infectious groove and drive.”

The single comes along with a track video.

Ο frontman Mikael Stanne εξηγεί για το τραγούδι: Το “Days Of The Lost” έχει να κάνει με το να βρεις τη θέση σου στη ζωή, με το να μετατρέψεις το στίγμα του απόκληρου σε κάτι που σε ωθεί μπροστά. Γνωριστήκαμε όλοι στα μέσα της εφηβείας μας και όλοι προσπαθούσαμε να βρούμε κατεύθυνση, κίνητρο και νόημα. Ευτυχώς το βρήκαμε στη δημιουργικότητα και τη μουσική και μοιραστήκαμε αυτό το πάθος και φτιάξαμε κάτι από αυτό που παραμένει ένα ουσιαστικό μέρος του ποιοι είμαστε ως άτομα και ως μέρη ενός συνόλου. Έτσι, εδώ είμαστε εμείς που αναλογιζόμαστε το παρελθόν μας, ενώ παρακολουθούμε μια νέα γενιά να βρίσκει αργά αλλά σταθερά το δρόμο της. Έχει να κάνει με το να στέκεσαι όρθιος, να είσαι ο αληθινός σου εαυτός και να μην αφήνεις τίποτα να σταθεί εμπόδιο στο δρόμο σου. Οι επιλογές μας και τα μονοπάτια μας έχουν οδηγήσει σε όλων των ειδών τα πράγματα, αλλά δεν θα αλλάζαμε τίποτα”.

Το βίντεο γυρίστηκε μια κρύα μέρα του Ιανουαρίου σε μια ταράτσα σε μια τοποθεσία στο Γκέτεμποργκ που ονομάζεται “Ringön”, η οποία ήταν κάποτε βιομηχανική, αλλά σήμερα μετατρέπεται σε ένα δροσερό μέρος με όλες τις ζυθοποιίες, τα κλαμπ, τους χώρους και όλα τα δημιουργικά είδη δραστηριοτήτων. Τη σκηνοθεσία έχει αναλάβει ο Theo Gabay μαζί με τον συνεργάτη του Morgan Jensen, οι οποίοι είναι περισσότερο γνωστοί στη Σουηδία για τις κινηματογραφικές και τηλεοπτικές τους δουλειές.

THE HALO EFFECTis the biggest surprise in the metal scene in a long time. After making a big impression with their debut single “Shadowminds” and the follow up single “Feel What I Believe”, the band now announces their debut album for August 12^th and kicks off the pre-save phase with a third single and video for the album title track “Days Of The Lost”.

The band featuring guitar heroes & songwriting wizards Jesper Strömblad and Niclas Engelin (ex- IN FLAMES), singer Mikael Stanne (DARK TRANQUILITY), as well as former IN FLAMES members Peter Iwers and Daniel Svensson, presenting another masterclass in Swedish melodic death metal!

We all met in our mid teens and we were all trying to find direction, motivation and meaning. Thankfully we found it in creativity and music and we shared this passion and made something from it that remains an essential part of who we are as individuals and as parts of a whole. So this is us reflecting on our past, while watching a new generation slowly but surely find their path. It’s about standing up, being your true self and about not letting anything stand in your way. Our choices and our paths have led to all kinds of things but we wouldn’t change a thing.”

The video was shot on a cold day in January at a rooftop at a location in Gothenburg called “Ringön”, that used to be all industrial but nowadays turning into a cool place with all it´s breweries, clubs, venues and all creative sorts of activities. It is directed by Theo Gabay along with his sidekick Morgan Jensen, who are more known in Sweden for their movie and tv work.

Το “Feel what I Believe” είναι βασικά για το πώς νιώσαμε μεγαλώνοντας και ανακαλύπτοντας το ακραίο μέταλ στα τέλη της εφηβείας μας. Εμβαθύνουμε σε κάτι που ήταν ταυτόχρονα τρομακτικό και δελεαστικό. Και έχοντας αυτό ως μοναδικό επίκεντρο καθώς ξεκινήσαμε να παίζουμερ σα μπάντα και στην ουσία αποφάσισαμε ποιος θέλαμε να γίνουμε. Αυτή η αυτοπεποίθηση και η εστίαση σαν λέιζερ είναι αυτό που εξακολουθεί να μας συναρπάζει. Λατρεύουμε που αυτό άντεξε με κάποιο τρόπο με τα χρόνια. Βασικά είμαστε εμείς στα 19 που φωνάζουμε “Πώς δεν το καταλαβαίνεις αυτό;”. Ακόμα κι αν οι άνθρωποι γύρω μας δεν το κατάλαβαν εκείνη τη στιγμή, τουλάχιστον θα μπορούσαν να δουν το πάθος μας για αυτό και γι’ αυτό είναι αυτό το τραγούδι.

Το βίντεο θυμίζει επίσης τα βίντεο που είδαμε μεγαλώνοντας. Ένα μάτσο μακρυμάλληδες σε μια εγκαταλελειμμένη αποθήκη που παίζουν δυνατή μουσική προσπαθώντας να φαίνονται cool βασικά. Αυτό που κάναμε εδώ όμως είναι να το φέρουμε σε άλλο επίπεδο χάρη στον Theo Gabay και την καταπληκτική ομάδα του. Μου αρέσει που αιχμαλωτίζει την ατμόσφαιρα που παίζουμε και απολαμβάνουμε πραγματικά αυτό που κάνουμε. Επίσης φαίνεται εντυπωσιακό. Απολαμβάνω!”

Η αρχική σκέψη πίσω από το THE HALO EFFECT ήταν να επιστρέψουμε στις ρίζες και να εξερευνήσουμε τον κλασικό ήχο του Γκέτεμποργκ, και το συγκρότημα καταφέρνει ακριβώς αυτό. Η νέα τους άποψη για τον εμβληματικό ήχο είναι βέβαιο ότι θα αρέσει στους λάτρεις του κλασικού melodeath ήχου.

After gathering over 1 million plays combined for their debut single “Shadowminds”, 2021’s biggest surprise in the metal scene, strikes back  with another single & video. Combining their forces as songwriting geniuses and having the “Rifflords of Sweden” united once more, they deliver with the new hit single “Feel What I Believe” what fans were craving for for the past decade!

Jesper Strömblad of IN FLAMES (1990-2010), Mikael Stanne (DARK TRANQUILLITY),  Peter Iwers (IN FLAMES 1997-2016) , Daniel Svensson (IN FLAMES 1998-2015) and Niclas Engelin (IN FLAMES 1997-98/2011-) teamed up to shake up the Gothenburg scene!

The band comments on the song as follows:

“Feel what I believe” is basically about how it felt growing up and discovering extreme metal in our late teens. Delving into something that was both frightening and alluring at the same time. And having that as the sole focus as you started playing in a band and in essence decided who you wanted to be. That confidence and laser focus is what still fascinates me I love that this somehow endured over the years. This is basically us at 19 screaming “How don’t you understand this?”. And even if people around us didn’t get it at the time at least they could see our passion for it and that’s what this song is about.

The video is also reminiscent of the videos we saw growing up. A bunch of long haired people in an abandoned warehouse playing loud music while trying to look cool basically. What we did here though is bring it to another level thanks to Theo Gabay and his amazing team. I love that it captures the vibe of us playing and really enjoying what we do. Also it looks spectacular. Enjoy!”

The initial thought behind THE HALO EFFECT was to go back to the roots and explore the classic Gothenburg Sound, and the band manage just that. Their new take on the iconic sound is sure to appeal to fans of the classic melodeath sound.

A new melodic death metal band is on its way and it’s something every Dark Tranquillity and In Flames fan had been hoping for. First song comes out on November 9 and it’s called Shadow Minds!
