Ο Gus Drax είναι ένας από του καλύτερους κιθαρίστες που υπάρχουν αυτή τη στιγμή στο παγκόσμιο μουσικό στερέωμα. Αν με ρωτάτε, θεωρώ πως έχει το natural μουσικό ταλέντο αλλά (όπως θα έλεγε και ο ίδιος νομίζω) αυτό δεν φτάνει για να σε φτάσει εκέι που μπορεί να ποθείς να φτάσεις και να εξελιχθείς ως μουσικός. Ο Gus Drax έχει δουλέψει και εξακολουθεί να δουλεύει πάρα πολύ σκληρά, με αφοσίωση, πειθαρχία, σεβασμό και τεράστια αγάπη για αυτό που κάνει, ώστε να καλλιεργεί και να εξελίσει συνεχώς αυτό το μουσικό του ταλέντο και να φτάσει αυτή τη στιγμή να είναι ένα από του καλύτερους κιθαρίστες παγκοσμίως.

Ξεκίνησε να ασχολείτε με την κιθάρα στα 14 του, κάποια χρόνια αργότερα έγινε μέλος των Biomechanical, το 2009 ένωσε τις δυνάμεις του με τους Black Fate και το 2010 έγινε συνιδρύτης στους πολυαγαπημένους Sunburst. Το 2016 μπήκε στην παρέα των Suicidal Angels, από τους οποίους αποχώρησε στις αρχές του 2025. Το πρώτο προσωπικό album του Gus Drax , In Search of Perfection, κυκλοφόρησε το 2010 και 16 χρόνια μέτα ήρθε επιτέλους η στιγμή που ο Gus μας ανακοινώνει την κυκλοφορία του δεύτερου προσωπικού του album που θα ακούει στο όνομα Theories of Imperfection  και θα κυκλοφορήσει στις 3 Απριλίου 2026 από την Theogonia Records.

Στα τύμπανα καθόλη την διάρκει του Theories of Imperfection θα ακούμε τον μοναδικό George Kollias (Nile, Royal Time Machine). Δηλαδή επεξεργάσου το λίγο: Gus Drax στην κιθάρα και Γιώργος Κόλλιας στα τύμπανα…και φαντάσου τι έχουν να ακούσουν τα αυτάκια σου. Οι εκπλήξεις όμως δεν σταματάνε εκεί αφού ο Andy James (Five Finger Death Punch) θα σολάρει στο Cosmic Shadow, ο John Koutselinis, καταξιωμένος μουσικός και βραβευμένος film score composer, έχει συνεργαστεί στα Sentio Ergo Sum, Nocturnal Waltz και Final Atonement  και ο Λευτέρης Πουλιού με το υπέροχο σαξόφωνο του συμμετέχει στο Ethereal Horizon.

Το πρώτο single και video clip από το Theories of Imperfection  δόθηκε στην δημοσιότητα πριν λίγες ώρες, ακούει στο όνομα Sentio Ergo Sum, ε και το μόνο σίγουρο είναι ότι δεν θα βρεις κανένα imperfection in it. Είναι ένας χείμαρρος μουσικής δεξιοτεχνίας, μελωδικότητας και συναισθήματος με ξεκάθαρο αέρα και άρωμα Gus Drax. Στο μπάσο βρίσκουμε τον Giorgos Charalampidis. Το βίντεο κλιπ είναι δια χειρός Bob Κατσιώνη και Αλέξανδρου Χαριτάκη.

Όπως γράφτηκε στην δημοσίευση της Theogonia Records: “Το Sentio Ergo Sum είναι το πρώτο κομμάτι από το πολυαναμενόμενο νέο σόλο άλμπουμ του Gus Drax, Theories of Imperfection. Gus Drax is one of the best guitarists currently on the global music scene. If you ask me, I think he has natural musical talent, but, as I think he himself would say, that’s not enough to get you where you want to be and develop as a musician. Gus Drax has worked and continues to work very hard, with dedication, discipline, respect, and enormous love for what he does, in order to cultivate and continuously develop his musical talent and become one of the best guitarists in the world.

He started playing guitar at the age of 14 and he joined Biomechanical a few years later. In 2009 he joined forces with Black Fate and in 2010 he co-founded our beloved Sunburst. In 2016, he joined Suicidal Angels, with which he parted ways in early 2025. Gus Drax‘s first solo album, In Search of Perfection, was released in 2010 and 16 years later Gus has finally announced the release of his second solo album, Theories of Imperfection, which will be released on April 3rd 2026, by Theogonia Records.

Throughout Theories of Imperfection we will hear the unique George Kollias (Nile, Royal Time Machine) on drums. So, think about it: Gus Drax on guitar and George Kollias on drums… and imagine what your ears are in for. But the surprises don’t stop there as Andy James (Five Finger Death Punch) will be featured and will be shredding on Cosmic Shadow, John Koutselinis, an acclaimed musician and award-winning film score composer has collaborated on Sentio Ergo Sum, Nocturnal Waltz και Final Atonement and Lefteris Pouliou with his wonderful saxophone, participates in Ethereal Horizon.

The first single and video clip from Theories of Imperfection was released a few hours ago. It is called Sentio Ergo Sum and one thing is certain: you will find no imperfection in it. It is a torrent of musical virtuosity, melody, and emotion with a distinct Gus Drax vibe and essence. Giorgos Charalampidis is on the bass and the video clip was directed and produced by Bob Katsionis and Alexander Haritakis.

As written in the publication by Theogonia Records : “Sentio Ergo Sum is the opening track from Gus Drax’s highly anticipated new solo album, Theories of Imperfection. Blending blistering guitar precision, dynamic orchestration, and powerful melodic storytelling, the song sets the tone for an album that pushes the boundaries of instrumental progressive metal. For the time being all we have to do is listen to Sentio Ergo Sum  on repeat and wait patiently to lose ourselves in all the other magical musical paths Gus Drax has in store of us in his Theories of Imperfection.

Η ηχογράφηση έγινε στο Red House Music Studio από τον Nick Grey ενώ το μοντάζ στα τύμπανα ανέλαβε ο Δευκαλίων Δήμος. Η εξαιρετική παραγωγή/μίξη έγινε από τον Steve Lado στο SL Studio και το υπέροχο artwork ανήκει στην Νάσια Στυλίδου (Decomposition). Αυτό που όμως μένει να δούμε είναι αν οι ORIA έχτισαν επάνω στο πολύ δυνατό θεμέλιο που δημιούργησαν το 2020 και πόσο τελικά πίεσαν τα μουσικά τους όρια. 

Το This Future Wants Us Dead είναι ένα εννοιολογικό άλμπουμ που εξελίσσεται σε ένα δυστοπικό μέλλον, που δεν φαντάζει και τόσο μακρινό, αφού οι ORIA αγγίζουν θέματα περιβαλλοντικής καταστροφής, τεχνολογικής κυριαρχίας και κοινωνικής απομόνωσης, τα οποία έχουν σπρώξει την ανθρωπότητα στο χείλος της κατάρρευσης.  

Με φωνητικά που ισορροπούν πολύ έξυπνα μεταξύ clean and harsh και μέσω αδυσώπητων riffs, περίπλοκων ρυθμών και κατατρεπτικών/μελαγχολικών μελωδιών, οι ORIA ζωγραφίζουν ένα σκοτεινό, επιθετικό και ενοχλητικά οικείο τοπίο και μας κάνουν κομμάτι  μιας ανυποχώρητης διαδικασίας κοινωνικής και προσωπικής αναζήτησης. Οργισμένο, μελαγχολικό, κινηματογραφικό, βαθιά εσωστρεφές και πάρα πολύ ευαίσθητο. Μουσική που προκαλεί και εμπνέει. Με το This Future Wants Us Dead οι ORIA μας αποδεικνύουν για ακόμα μια φορά πως τα όρια υπάρχουν για να τα πιέζουμε. ORIA first appeared in the metal music scene with their strong debut album Sublimation(s), in 2020. Few months ago they announced their signing to Theogonia Records and their long-anticipated sophomore album, This Future Wants Us Dead, which will be released on April 25th in CD digipack and digital format.

The recording was done at Red House Music Studio by Nick Grey while the drums were edited by Deucalion Dimos. The excellent production/mixing was done by Steve Lado at SL Studio and the wonderful artwork is by Nasia Stylidou (Decomposition). But what remains to be seen is whether ORIA built on the very strong foundation they created in 2020 and how much they actually pushed their musical limits. 

This Future Wants Us Dead, is a conceptual album set in a dystopian future that doesn’t seem so far away, as ORIA touch on issues of environmental destruction, technological domination and social isolation that have pushed humanity to the brink of collapse. 

With vocals that very intelligently fluctuate between clean and harsh and through relentless riffs, complex rhythms and devastating/melancholic melodies, ORIA paint a dark, aggressive and disturbingly familiar landscape and make us part of an unyielding process of social and personal search. Marching through the darkness of destruction and with only the hope for a better future as the only light, the human soul takes the lead in a struggle to endure, recreate and reclaim the future. 

ORIA have managed to make This Future Wants Us Dead so cinematic that it comes to life in front of you listening to it. Out of this world elements and cold, robotic rhythms create a sterile musical atmosphere that reminds you of the heavy soul void after the disaster…that internal numbness, exactly how you would imaging your first morning wake-up in a post-apocalyptic world. 

The flawless balance between the sophisticated complexity and sensitivity of the progressive elements and the raw heaviness of the album’s groove elements make the already fragile balance between collapse and survival even more vital, reminding us of our resilience and strength whilst keeping the warm sunshine of hope alive.

AMONGRUINS have been active ones again for good as it seems and they are preparing to release the successor of No Light which was released in 2016.

Their new, as yet untitled third album is expected to be released this summer via Theogonia Records. To pave the way, the band has released the first single/video clip for the track Wells Of War.

The video was directed by Tuomas Saukkonen of WOLFHEART and BEFORE THE DAWN.
