A teaser that Volbeat have started rehearsals has been uploaded on their Social Media accounts. More specifically, the band’s singer Michael Poulsen says that they have found their first rehearsal and they already have the first new song. There are no vocals yet as he is recovering from the surgery he had in October, as he told us in his interview, but he has already thought about it and as soon as he is completely well they will rehearse it. In a new interview with Sonic Perspectives collaborator Rodrigo Altaf, VOLBEAT frontman Michael Poulsen spoke about the band’s recent split with longtime guitarist Rob Caggiano. Rob‘s replacement for VOLBEAT‘s current tour is Flemming C. Lund of the Danish extreme metal outfit THE ARCANE ORDER. Michael said : “There’s a statement on the net [about the split with Rob], and I can’t go into too much details. But the thing was, three weeks before a tour, we suddenly became a three-piece. And, of course, for us, [we initially thought], ‘Let’s just go out as a three-piece. This is the situation we are in now.’ But at the end of the day, when we were sitting down and I was about to do the setlist, of course we became a little bit handicapped. So, there was different options to who we were going to give a call to help us out, but since I already worked with Flemming and I knew Flemming, I gave him a call, even though he said, ‘I have no idea how VOLBEAT sounds like.’ [Laughs] He’s only into death metal. So he said, ‘I just have to listen to a lot of VOLBEAT records, I guess.’ Of course he knew VOLBEAT — everybody knows VOLBEAT in Denmark — but he was not listening to VOLBEAT. So he said, ‘Give me a few days just to actually figure out what you guys are playing,’ beside the stuff that you hear on the radio. And he took up the challenge, and we made an agreement and he’s helping out VOLBEAT for this year.”

VOLBEAT played its first concert with Lund on June 10 at the Rockfest festival in Hyvinkää, Finland.

Just five days earlier, VOLBEAT announced that it had officially parted ways with Caggiano. No reason was given for the split, but the remaining bandmembers said that they wished their “brother Rob all the best with everything he does in the future.” They went on to thank Rob “for ten amazing years.”

After 10 years in the band, guitarist Rob Caggiano has left VOLBEAT. Without yet revealing the reasons that led him to this decision, the band chose to say goodbye and thank him for his contribution to the band’s progress over these 10 years, with a post on social media.

Specifically, the post reads:

“After ten incredible years we must sadly announce that VOLBEAT and Rob Caggiano have parted ways. During our time together we’ve traveled the world sharing great experiences and released four albums that we are immensely proud of, and we wouldn’t change a moment of it.

We wish our brother Rob all the best with everything he does in the future (we know it’s going to be great)! Filling those shoes on stage will be a herculean task, but our good friend Flemming C. Lund (THE ARCANE ORDER) will be jumping in to handle lead guitar on our 2023 shows.

Thank you to all of our incredible fans for their support, and more importantly, thank you to Rob for ten amazing years”.

According to their post, Rob Caggiano‘s interim replacement is Flemming C. Lund of THE ARCANE ORDER. Rob Caggiano, joined the ranks of VOLBEAT in 2013 after an also 10-year stint in ANTHRAX.

Στο Servant Of Mind οι VOLBEAT κάνουν επαναφορά στα στοιχεία που μας είχαν κάνει να τους ξεχωρίσουμε και κλείνουν το μάτι στους «σκληρούς» οπαδούς τους δηλώνοντας ξανά παρόντες! Θα βρεις μέσα συνθέσεις που θα σου θυμίσουν παλιότερα τραγούδια τους. Θα βρεις πάρα πολλές στιγμές που ο «μπαμπάς» των επιρροών του Michael Pulsen, James Hetfield, θα πλανάται πάνω από τον τρόπο που ερμηνεύει σε σημείο που κάποιος εξωτερικός παρατηρητής θα μπορούσε να αστειευτεί «καμιά φορά ακούγονται περισσότερο METALLICA απ’ τους METALLICA” (Say No More). Σίγουρα υπάρχουν οι στιγμές που θα πεις ο Elvis ζει αλλά και τα πιο punk πατήματα τους. Όμως σε σύνολο μιλάμε για ένα ισσοροπημένο, πολύ καλογραμμένο άλμπουμ, με ελάχιστες αδιάφορες στιγμές, κατά την προσωπική άποψη (Wait A Minute My Girl) και πολλά τραγούδια που εγγυόνται να σπάσουν τα άλατα και του πιο δύσπιστου αυχένα! Η παραγωγή είναι αψεγάδιαστη, η δομή τον τραγουδιών έξυπνη και πιασάρικη, οι κιθάρες ξυράφια και τα τύμπανα καταιγιστικά. Για τη φωνή τι να πούμε; Δεν υπάρχει δεύτερη τέτοια χροιά αυτή τη στιγμή στη σκηνή και ο τρόπος τοποθέτησης και ερμηνείας του Pulsen τουλάχιστον ιδιοφυής.

Οι VOLBEAT είναι μια μπάντα που έχει εντελώς δική της ταυτότητα και μπορεί να σε συγκινήσει ακόμη κι όταν νομίζεις ότι δε σ αρέσουν. Ναι είναι Metal Even Your Mom Would Like όπως έχουν γράψει πάνω σε μπλουζάκι τους αλλά εγώ μέτρησα σε ένα άλμπουμ με 18 τραγούδια συμπεριλαμβανομένων δυο εναλλακτικών εκδόσεων και της απίστευτης διασκευής στο Don’t Tread On Me τουλάχιστον 14 τραγούδια πάνω του καλού και κάποια που μπαίνουν στην ψυχή σου απ’ το πρώτο άκουσμα. Αν δεν είστε εξοικειωμένοι με το συγκρότημα αυτό το εξαιρετικό άλμπουμ είναι μια καλή αρχή και αφορμή για να ψάξετε όλη τη δισκογραφία τους. Λίγο πριν τη λήξη του 2021 οι VOLBEAT τριπλάρουν και μπαίνουν στα 5 καλύτερα άλμπουμ της χρονιάς! Δυναμώστε το!

I received some “friendly fire” from my close circle that I will be subjective when it comes to writing the review for the new VOLBEAT album entitled Servant Of Mind which was released on December 3^rd. I am not going to hide the fact I was really looking forward to the particular release as I am a huge fan of the band. Neither will I hide the fact I had some second thoughts about it since their previous release Rewind Replay Rebound was the “lightest” album of their discography. However, that doesn’t mean that it didn’t include songs that will remain classics and my personal favorites.

In Servant Of Mind, VOLBEAT bring back all the elements that made them stand out in the first place and they give a “salute” to their “heavier” fans by restating their place once more! You will definitely find songs that will remind you of older tracks of theirs. You will find moments when “Papa Het” influences of Michael Pulsen are hovering over the entire song, in the way Michael Pulsen, sings to the extent that an outside observer could make a joke like “sometimes they sound more METALLICA than METALLICA” (Say No More). There are definitely moments when the thought “The king is alive” (VOLBEAT) will cross your mind but also the punk influences they incorporate in their music. As an entity, Servant Of Mind is a well-balanced, very well written album, with very few insignificant moments (Wait A Minute My Girl) and many songs that are guaranteed to break the salts even in the stiffest neck! The production is impeccable, the structure of the songs is smart and catchy, the guitars are sharp like razorblades and the drumming relentless. As for the vocals what can I say? There is no other voice color neither skillful brilliance quite like Pulsen’s in the metal scene today.

VOLBEAT is a band with its entirely own identity and can move you even if you think you don’t like them. Yes they are Metal Even Your Mom Would Like as they write on a tshirt of theirs but in an album of 18 tracks, including two alternate versions and the amazing Don’t Tread On Me cover 14 songs well above good and a few of them capture your soul by the first spin. If you are not familiar with the band, this is an excellent album to start from and discover their discography. Just a little before 2021 is over VOLBEAT with a swift move, and a brilliant release make it to the year’s top 5! Turn it up!

Becoming is also a bit harsher from the band’s previous release Rewind Replay Rebound which came out in 2019 and elevated the band in extreme popularity and the thrashy parts makes us wonder… how the album is going to sound… Send us your thoughts!

Volbeat are the next to present their participation in Metallica’s Blacklist with their cover version of Don’t Tread On Me!

All profits from this song go to Metallica’s All Within My Hands Foundation and Børne Cancer Fonden Denmark. Metallica’s Black Album will come out on September 10th and all proceeds are going to go to charity for the All Within My Hands Foundation but also charities the 53 participating artists will choose.

Το τραγούδι είναι το 8^ο της μπάντας που κατακτά το Mainstream Rock Songs No. 1, προσπερνώντας συγκροτήματα όπως οι U2 για συγκρότημα εκτός Βόρειας Αμερικής από το 1981 που δημιουργήθηκε η συγκεκριμένη λίστα. Το πρώτο Νο 1 των VOLBEAT έγινε τον Ιούλιο του 2012 με το “Still Counting”.
