Ο χρόνος με πάει πίσω στο 2009, κάτι βέβαια το οποίο μου φαίνεται σαν χθες. Μόλις είχα τελειώσει την υπηρεσία μου στη μαμά πατρίδα και ξαναέβγαινα στον κόσμο ως πολίτης πια. Τότε η ηθοποιός Taylor Momsen αποφάσισε να δημιουργήσει τους THE PRETTY RECKLESS για να δώσει μια νέα στροφή στην καριέρα της, μακριά από την χλιδή του Hollywood και να δοκιμάσει την τύχη της στο δρόμο της μουσικής.
Το Other Worlds είναι στην ουσία ένα tribute άλμπουμ αφιερωμένο στον ήρωα της μπάντας, τον αδικοχαμένο Chris Cornell. Η μπάντα ήταν σε περιοδεία με τον Cornell την μέρα που πέθανε και ακούς σε όλο το άλμπουμ την επιρροή που τους άφησε ο χαμός του.
Το άλμπουμ δεν περιέχει νέα κομμάτια, προσπαθεί να αναδημιουργήσει πάνω σε υπάρχοντα τραγούδια καθώς η μπάντα ήθελε να πειραματιστεί με τον ήχο της. Ξεκινάμε με το Gets So High ένα όμορφο remix που σε καθοδηγεί το τι θα ακούσεις. Ακολουθεί το Loud Love μια όμορφη διασκευή του κλασσικού κομματιού του Chris Cornell The Keeper. Σε αυτό το κομμάτι καταλαβαίνεις έντονα και την ποιότητα στα φωνητικά της Momsen τα οποία είναι εξαιρετικά.
Επίσης, άλλο ένα highlight για μένα είναι η ακουστική έκδοση του Death By Rock N’ Roll το οποίο δίνει μια εξαιρετική δυναμική στο τραγούδι. Και αυτό είναι στην ουσία που κάνει το άλμπουμ. Σε περνάει από χαλαρό και μελωδικό τέμπο σε κάτι το πιο δυνατό.
Παρόλο λοιπόν που δεν έβγαλαν καινούρια τραγούδια, οι THE PRETTY RECKLESS καταφέρνουν να βγάλουν ένα άλμπουμ που αναδεικνύει το ταλέντο τους και ιδιαίτερα τα φωνητικά , και όχι μόνο τα εμφανισιακά, ταλέντα της Taylor Momsen. Εάν δεν γνωρίζεις τη δουλειά της μπάντας, αυτό το άλμπουμ είναι ένας καλός και έξυπνος τρόπος να ξεκινήσεις. Απολαύστε το….

Time takes me back to 2009, which of course seems like yesterday. I had just finished my service in the motherland and was re-entering the world as a citizen now. That’s when actress Taylor Momsen decided to form THE PRETTY RECKLESS to give her career a new turn away from the Hollywood opulence and try her luck on the music road.
Other Worlds is essentially a tribute album dedicated to the band’s hero, the late Chris Cornell. The band was on tour with Cornell the day he died and you can hear throughout the album the influence his loss left on them.
The album contains no new songs, it attempts to recreate on existing songs as the band wanted to experiment with their sound. We start off with Get So High a beautiful remix that guides what you listen to. This is followed by Loud Love a beautiful cover of Chris Cornell’s classic track The Keeper. In this track you can strongly understand the quality in Momsen‘s vocals which are excellent.
Also, another highlight for me is the acoustic version of Death By Rock N’ Roll which gives an excellent dynamic to the song. And that’s essentially what the album is all about. It takes you from a relaxed and melodic tempo to something more powerful. So even though they didn’t put out any new songs, THE PRETTY RECKLESS still manages to put out an album that showcases their talent and especially the vocal , and not just the vocal, talents of Taylor Momsen. If you’re not familiar with the band’s work, this album is a good and smart way to start. Enjoy….
