Το Σάββατο 14 Μαρτίου βρεθήκαμε στα Manos Backline Services, MB Studios για την επίσημη παρουσίαση του δίσκου των Battleroar με τίτλο “Petrichor“. Ευχαριστούμε θερμά το συγκρότημα για την πρόσκληση.
Βρεθήκαμε λοιπόν και ακούσαμε όλοι μαζί το νέο album των Battleroar που κυκλοφόρησε στις 24 Απριλίου από την No Remorse Records. Μετά από χαλαρές και ευχάριστες κουβέντες μεταξύ ημών και των υπόλοιπων καλεσμένων καθώς και της μπαντας, ξεκινήσαμε το ταξίδι μας στο “Petrichor”, μια πάρα πολύ καλή δουλειά της μπάντας που παραμένει πιστή στο epic metal ύφος και στο συναίσθημα της περιπέτειας.
Το album ανοίγει με το “The Last Mythkeeper”, μια εισαγωγή που θέτει ιδανικά το επικό και ατμοσφαιρικό ύφος του δίσκου και προετοιμάζει τον ακροατή για το ταξίδι που ακολουθεί.
Η συνέχεια έρχεται με το “The Missing Note”, ένα κομμάτι γεμάτο ατμόσφαιρα και παραμυθένια διάθεση, που σε βάζει αμέσως στον κόσμο του δίσκου. Τα δυναμικά φωνητικά, τα έντονα τύμπανα και τα καλοδουλεμένα riffs δημιουργούν από την αρχή ένα αίσθημα ανύψωσης και επικής περιπέτειας. Η μουσική και η ερμηνεία λειτουργούν απόλυτα μαζί, οδηγώντας σε μια εξαιρετική γέφυρα προς το τέλος.
Στο “Ate, Hybris, Nemesis” η διάθεση γίνεται πιο μελωδική και συναισθηματική. Το βιολί παίρνει πρωταγωνιστικό ρόλο δίπλα στην κιθάρα και τα πιο απαλά φωνητικά, ενώ τα ντραμς χτίζουν σταδιακά ένταση μέχρι το κομμάτι να ξεσπάσει δυναμικά. Τα riffs δένουν εξαιρετικά με τη μελαγχολική αίσθηση του βιολιού, δημιουργώντας μια όμορφη νοσταλγική ατμόσφαιρα.
Το “Legacy of Suffering (Flagellants)” ανεβάζει αισθητά την ένταση. Το βιολί συνεχίζει να οδηγεί τη μελωδία, αλλά πλέον η φωνή αποκτά πιο άγριο και επιβλητικό ύφος. Τα τύμπανα δίνουν τεράστια ενέργεια και το κομμάτι αποπνέει πυγμή και αποφασιστικότητα, σαν το σημείο όπου η ιστορία περνά από τη μελαγχολία στη σύγκρουση.
Στο “The Earth Remembers, The Rain Forgives” συναντάμε έναν πιο γρήγορο και περιπετειώδη χαρακτήρα. Τα ντραμς κυριαρχούν με γρήγορο ρυθμό, ενώ το βιολί κρατά μια πιο μελαγχολική γραμμή, δημιουργώντας πολύ όμορφη αντίθεση. Σε αρκετά σημεία οι δύο πλευρές “συναντιούνται”, αποτυπώνοντας ιδανικά το αίσθημα της μάχης και της εσωτερικής πάλης. Η κορύφωση του κομματιού είναι εξαιρετική, ενώ τα backing vocals δίνουν ακόμα περισσότερο όγκο.
Ακολουθεί το “What is Best in Life?”, που μοιάζει να ανοίγει ένα νέο, πιο συναισθηματικό κεφάλαιο στο album. Από την αρχή νιώθεις πως κάτι μεγάλο έρχεται. Οι συνεχείς εναλλαγές, τα δυναμικά φωνητικά και τα έντονα riffs κρατούν το ενδιαφέρον ασταμάτητα, ενώ η γέφυρα με το βιολί, το solo κιθάρας και το solo βιολιού είναι από τις πιο δυνατές στιγμές του δίσκου. Το φινάλε αφήνει μια πολύ όμορφη αίσθηση ολοκλήρωσης.
Το “Chaosbane” δίνει έντονα old-school epic metal vibes, θυμίζοντας την αισθητική των 90s. Η εισαγωγή με backing vocals και έντονες αλλαγές στα τύμπανα δημιουργεί αμέσως ατμόσφαιρα, ενώ συνολικά το κομμάτι αποπνέει μια αίσθηση απόγνωσης και αποφασιστικότητας, σαν η ιστορία να φτάνει σε κρίσιμο σημείο.
Στο “Wield the Myth” επιστρέφει έντονα το στοιχείο της περιπέτειας και της επιμονής. Το δυνατό riff της αρχής συνδυάζεται υπέροχα με το βιολί, δημιουργώντας μια αίσθηση συνέχισης του ταξιδιού παρά τις δυσκολίες. Τα ντραμς παίρνουν σταδιακά τη σκυτάλη και δίνουν ώθηση στο κομμάτι, ενώ τα φωνητικά λειτουργούν σχεδόν σαν κάλεσμα να συνεχίσεις μαζί τους τη μάχη.
Το bonus track “Storm Inside” λειτουργεί σαν ένα επικό κλείσιμο για τον δίσκο. Με έντονες εναλλαγές, θεατρικότητα και εξαιρετική συνεργασία ανάμεσα σε κιθάρα, βιολί και φωνή, ολοκληρώνει όμορφα την εμπειρία του album και αφήνει την αίσθηση ότι το ταξίδι συνεχίζεται ακόμα και μετά το τέλος του.
Το album μάς ταξιδεύει και μας κάνει να νιώθουμε σαν ιππότες και πολεμιστές μέσα σε επικές περιπέτειες. Ακολουθεί πιστά όλα εκείνα τα στοιχεία και τους αγαπημένους συνδυασμούς που συνθέτουν το epic metal ύφος. Ευχόμαστε στους Battleroar το “Petrichor” να είναι καλοτάξιδο!

On Saturday, March 14th, we attended the official presentation of Battleroar’s new album “Petrichor” at Manos Backline Services, MB Studios. We would like to warmly thank the band for the invitation.
Together with the rest of the guests and the band itself, we had the chance to listen to Battleroar’s new album, released on April 24th through No Remorse Records. After some relaxed and enjoyable conversations, we began our journey into “Petrichor”, a truly strong release that remains faithful to the epic metal spirit and the feeling of adventure.
The album opens with “The Last Mythkeeper”, an introduction that perfectly sets the epic and atmospheric tone of the record, preparing the listener for the journey ahead.
The journey truly begins with “The Missing Note”, a track filled with atmosphere and a fairytale-like feeling that immediately draws you into the world of the album. The dynamic vocals, powerful drums and well-crafted riffs create a sense of elevation and epic adventure right from the start. Music and performance work perfectly together, leading into an excellent bridge towards the end.
With “Ate, Hybris, Nemesis”, the mood becomes more melodic and emotional. The violin takes center stage alongside the guitar and softer vocal lines, while the drums gradually build tension until the song erupts dynamically. The riffs blend beautifully with the melancholic feeling of the violin, creating a nostalgic atmosphere.
“Legacy of Suffering (Flagellants)” raises the intensity significantly. The violin continues to guide the melody, but the vocals now take on a harsher and more commanding tone. The drums deliver tremendous energy, and the track radiates determination and strength, as if the story moves from melancholy into open conflict.
In “The Earth Remembers, The Rain Forgives”, we encounter a faster and more adventurous character. The drums dominate with an energetic pace, while the violin maintains a more melancholic line, creating a beautiful contrast. At several moments these two elements meet perfectly, capturing the feeling of battle and inner struggle. The climax of the song is outstanding, while the backing vocals add even more power and atmosphere.
Next comes “What is Best in Life?”, which feels like the opening of a new and more emotional chapter of the album. From the very beginning, you can sense that something significant is coming. The constant changes, dynamic vocals and strong riffs keep the listener fully engaged, while the bridge featuring both guitar and violin solos stands out as one of the album’s strongest moments. The finale leaves behind a powerful sense of completion.
“Chaosbane” delivers strong old-school epic metal vibes, reminiscent of the classic 90s atmosphere. The introduction with backing vocals and dramatic drum changes instantly creates tension, while the song as a whole carries a feeling of desperation and determination, as if the story has reached a crucial turning point.
With “Wield the Myth”, the themes of adventure and perseverance return strongly. The opening riff works beautifully together with the violin, creating the feeling of continuing the journey despite every hardship. The drums gradually take over and push the song forward, while the vocals almost feel like a call to arms, urging the listener to continue the battle alongside them.
The bonus track “Storm Inside” works as an epic closing chapter for the album. With dramatic transitions, theatrical atmosphere and excellent chemistry between guitar, violin and vocals, it completes the experience beautifully and leaves the impression that the journey continues even after the album ends.
“Petrichor” truly transports the listener into a world of epic adventures, making us feel like knights and warriors marching through legendary battles and journeys. It faithfully follows all the beloved elements and combinations that define the epic metal genre. We wish Battleroar and “Petrichor” the very best on its journey ahead!
